Universities are not a scam at all if you go to an Oxbridge / LSE / Ivy League tier institution. They signal a lot to employers, the graduates get high salaries, being in university is a better life than being in a mind numbing high school graduate job, people look down on you if you don't have a degree. Most graduate jobs don't require particular degrees. The art history major at Princeton can become an investment banker. The art history major at michigan state university can't.
I don't personally judge people on the nature of their work. But if you can't admit that women / society look down on you and the pay is shit compared to white collar work (when even graduates at Google and Facebook get 100+k on day one) then stop being deluded.
