Americans will defend this

>$300,000 in student debt
>$450,000 by graduation
>Americans will defend this

Is there anyone that gets taken advantage of worse than Americans? Truly a nation of good goys.

>medical student
He's going to make that much in a year.

Nobody likes the current college financial system, but subsidized higher ed is "socialism" or "gibs" so tough break, guess we're screwed

Dont americans get a choice whether they want to take a student loan or get a student job to get that extra money? Or do a 450k$ student loan debt just pop up out of nowhere? If you spend 450k$ while studying you are doing it wrong buddy

Which fucking college did he go to that he racked up that much debt in undergrad!?

muh college shouldn't be free
muh capitalism
muh red white n blue world's greatest country

>someone forced them to take these loans and accept the terms

Oh wait

>person dumb enough to pull a 2.0 also has massive debt

Shocking

>2.0 semesters
>medical school

lmao

No. I'm eligible for loans but not eligible for the Pell Grant or the work-study program. And the government unsubsidized loan they offer me ONLY covers tuition.

uh no? hahaha

I had a job in college and still had to take loans. Granted they were small. But shit I wish that was an option

He has $290,000 debt because he had to pay for 5 years of college (because he was dumb) AND medical school. He will pay it back when he becomes a rich doctor, which he probably wont because he's dumb

Maybe college wouldn't be so expensive if they stopped bloating their administrations with diversity task force officers while the chancellor gives himself a raise

It shouldn't. Free college breeds marxists. There are too many feminist hyphenated american studies already. I only support free college if it also comes with banning anyone Jewish from being a professor.

work study, federal grants, etc. are all means-tested. Which means you have to be a certain degree of poor to receive them.

Doctors don't make that much anymore. He still has 1-2 years of residency after graduation. Most regular family doctors only make about 150k or so.

who stays in college for 12 years

> Free college breeds marxists.

There is nothing wrong with merit based subsidized college, if a kid is pulling 4.0 GPA in highschool but is to poor to afford a college education we should help them out.

This doesn't mean we should pay for the college education of every lazy nigger though,

His problem is that he needs to start doing payments now...what is reading comprehension

It's harder in America. The more financial struggle you have the harder it is to have time to study or have energy in your body to be able to focus.

No, that's what he COULD make in a year. You don't make bank right out of med school. Plus, If he doesn't have the money he'll have to drop out early to pay off his debt. He's pretty much fucked if he can't pay what he owes. This is why nobody likes the current college financial system he can't get go to a decent school and graduate in time before the debt collectors start calling.

Yeah, turning universities into public schools is going to work out just fine.

When i was doing my education, I lived in a small 1 room apartment. I took some student loan too, but I owe nowhere near 450k dollars, even though I was ok in most ways economically.
From my perspective it seems like the people who end up owing several hundred thousands of dollars have been spending too much for a student.

Mean salary for a Primary Care Physician is $200K, and its been trending upward

It comes down to easy money(loans) and schools using every penny and even more to justify raising tuition and in turn increasing the loans required. The cracks are starting to appear, give it a few more years for college enrollment to crash.

Merit based scholarships is a completely different matter from the government giving infinite money to a bunch of lazy kikes who want an easy job they can't get fired from and a three month vacation while they indoctrinate our children with marxist ideals.

Work study? Please explain. Can you not just go out and try to get a normal part time job to pay for your student housing or apartment? You are not suppose to live like a rich man while you are doing your education.

He pulled almost 300k of debt in undergrad.

He likely went to a private expensive ass school for like 50k a year. When a state school was a viable option.

>2nd year medical school
>almost 300k debt
how in the fucking world is this even possible
unless you spend 2.5k a week for 2 years straight on drugs and hookers

ITT: priveledged foreigners tell burgers they're stupid because they live in a country with a shit education system

Check it.
Public schooling in Australia?
No worries mate, don't have to pay a dime until you earn the national average payroll.
Even then, you only gotta pay 25%

>There is nothing wrong with merit based subsidized college, if a kid is pulling 4.0 GPA in highschool but is to poor to afford a college education we should help them out.

>This doesn't mean we should pay for the college education of every lazy nigger though,

But that's what happens every time. Literally. Every time.

While yes, $450k is absurd.
You simply have a better system than we do which I'm sure will change with your influx of new Austrians.

Most American universities are $3500 a semester AT LEAST. That's roughly $12,000 a year just for tuition and books.

If you have to take a loan out for living expenses you could easily reach $50-60k upon graduation.

Only blacks and illegals.

I owed 20K because I got scholarships. Total cost of my education was about $100K. I went to a top 25 university. Your mileage will vary in America: Some universities comparable to mine can cost upwards of $200K for 4 years

>be me
>no financial aid in my 20s cause I had a good job and parents made too much

>now in my mid 30s
>get laid off and start looking at college
>qualify cause I don't make as much

They reward you for being poor.

Work-study is a job that you work for the university but they help work around your schedule so you have time to study and take exams. They also pay a little more I think.

>2.0 average

College is a meme. Average or stupid people will not become smarter by going to college. They will only become life-long debt slaves to kikes.

Yes but when I worked, this was only enough to pay for living expenses. I did not make enough to pay my college costs. Therefore, I had to take loans

Work study is usually done in partnership with the uni and for credits (usually padding). The point is to get real world experience and not have it be a waste of school time.

Also, America isn't Europe. I've spoken with Germans and they receive $500 a month and their rent is only $400 for their own one bedroom apartment. You would be lucky to find a room for rent for less than $500 here. A 1 bedroom apartment is easily $900-$1200 a month. Try affording that while going to school full time.

We definitely have irresponsible people here but the system is also incredibly fucked up and we're being taken advantage of hard.

Best advice I can give is to get your degrees and then flee your country if you have that much debt. It's the only real option you have, and it isn't all too uncommon. There are many people who have got their Phd's in America who fled to other countries to avoid repaying their student debt. This occured mostly when inflation was going through the roof and thus interest rates on those student debts as well. Meaning that some of the population got into so much debt that they couldn't ever hope to pay it back anymore.

If he were a minority he wouldn't have to pay a dime

>60k loan debt for aerospace engineering degree
>making 67k out of college with a promotion to 80k after a year
>loans will be paid in three years or so
Yeah debt sucks but it's easily manageable if you pick a useful degree and don't fuck up and switch majors like he did

well I'm not average or stupid, I got my ~~~LIBERAL ARTS DEGREE~~~, paid back my loan, and make a good living.

College being a meme is a meme. Furthering your education is a positive thing. Knowledge and education for its own sake is positive for yourself and for society. Even if you become a blue-collar worker, I would rather have every blue collar worker be educated in liberal arts. Preferably for free

>be me
>live in louisiana
>graduate high school with solid grades, do well on the ACT
>get TOPS (100% scholarship to university)
>graduate
>the year after I graduate, TOPS loses funding
>mfw graduated debt free and got a $60k/year job right after

Fucking morons. I did 4yrs in the army and after 4yrs at University of Washington I had zero debt and 14grand in the bank from not being a retard with my VA money lol. How fucking stupid can people get?

It really only fucks over people who drop out. My wife owes about as much as she makes in a year and has options that basically just allow her to throw a few dollars at it eveey month until she dies. I make a living wage working at a warehouse. We both know our countries economy is unstable but what choice do we have but to go to work?

only the rich or those who have exceptional merit and can earn scholarships should attend college. Fuck everyone else, they deserve debt.

Lets say you spend 12k dollars for just going to the school and things related. then if we assume 50k dollars and not 60k, you got 38k dollars left. 38k dollars, divided by 12 months is around 3100 dollars a month, which is waaay too much, 3100 dollars a month is way more than people earn in "normal" starter jobs over here and we have it good with wages in general. So we can conclude that if you rack up 50k dollars in student loan a year, you are living waaaaaaay above what you should. This is fact, life is hard.

you went to college for free you dipshit, don't lecture anyone else on debt

>He's going to make that much in a year.
lmao hello underage kid. No he will not make that much in a year, unless he specializes in open heart or neurosurgery. He might make 250,000 after 20 years in the field

>unless you spend 2.5k a week for 2 years straight on drugs and hookers
Exactly. And since he's whoring himself on leddit, that's probably what really happened

this is what happens when you accept no financial aid at all
what kind of stupid shit liberal accumulates 300k in debt

Mean Primary Care salary is $200K, he has 290K in debt. Nurse I think theres a bedpan that needs changing

What the fuck are you talking about idiot?

You cant take out an unlimited amount of money each year. The government only loans you the minimal amount to cover tuition. Anytl other loans you want will be private loans and they are compounded interest loans so your debt will literally double within a matter of just several years.

900$ is what you would spent a whole month here

I think these weak people are just too stupid and naive on life to understand that they are not suppose to live like a working man while they are studying.

There comes a point where the amount of debt becomes so great, the lender is at the mercy of the debtor.

This guy has reached that point. If I were him, I'd just give the lender a giant fuck you and walk away.

They'll never be able to collect, and he'll never be able to pay. Since they were both so irresponsible up to this point, it seems that a little more irresponsibility would be the best way to bring this ride to an end.

Whenever people get easy access to credit for specific reasons those things will skyrocket in price

Housing, education, brand new vehicles, etc

What do you mean for the whole month? For all your bills for everything ?

I just did some simple maths for you, if you dont understand it, this might be why you owe several hundred thousand dollars for student loans.

I thought Danish uni is 100% free

you will get that much debt if you go to pretty much ANY private university without scholarships. Even shitty 3rd tier schools can cost $40k+ per year, not including living expenses.

I know tons of people that went to schools like Columbia, Northwestern, etc and paid full price, plus financed their cost of living in an expensive ass city via loans. After 5 years (typical, because they had to do a semester abroad and screwed up their degree progression) you are easily looking at a quarter mil in the hole.

I always tell kids that they should only self-fund to go to a high end expensive university if their parents are sitting on incredible amounts of wealth and can cover it. Absolutely NOBODY should pay to go to anything under a 2nd tier school, as well. It's fucking criminal to see derpy ass garbage colleges charging what they do for what is in effect a useless degree.

Also, as as side note, most doctors are god awful with money. They are very entitled and think they deserve everything - two BMWs, the 5000sq ft suburban house, the $40k wedding to that other doctor they met in med school that they will divorce in five years, etc. If money and luxury is the goal, medicine is a terrible career path. They make like $80/hr on average. That isn't very much given the cost of entry.

>Get told how much your college will be before you sign the paper work to make it official.
>You make a conscious decision to agree to this.
>What the fuck, why is it so expensive!

I go and buy a house, I dont complain about the price after the fact.

ban student loans

problem solved.

Kek what.

>Went to community college for free
>Immediately got a well paying job after finishing
These student loan fags will never cease to make me laugh.

If you pay 7k in a year, how can you spend 5k on books alone? I thought American universities were 9k per semester (thus for a 4 year degree 72k just on tuition cost). And then of course living expenses which could easily be another 40k right? Pretty easy to get 100k+ in debt it seems, even if you have a low paid partime job you maybe would earn 30k with that over 4 years then you'd still be 82k in debt right?

Netherlands has a good system though. You either do a 4 year degree that is more orientated on practical scientific theory or a 3 year degree orientated on the theoretical side. The theoretical STEM 3 year degrees are significantly harder than 4 year degrees, average time upon completing the 3 year degree is 4 years and 7 months, for the 4 year courses 4 years and 4 months.

It is 2k / year to study in the new system, in the old system you would've gotten 2k / year for 4 years. You also have free public travel, and its easy to reach any university within an hour with trains in most locations of the Netherlands. So you also don't really have to go live on your own. If you however do live on your own, the average student debt for those people is 27k euro. Which in my opinion is quite a huge load, that's like a year of work with an above median pay job. I think it's better to not get into debt that big, it's better to take 5 years for your degree with no debt than 4 years with 30k debt.

he prob went to an expensive lib arts college and took out loans like a dumbass

unless you're going to a top undergrad, you should probably transfer to your state flagship public school if you want to do med school

i will be for about 11

PhD in applied mathematics, though, and STEM research means getting paid ~30K a year to go to school, not paying 30K a year

Awarding scholarship or paying part of student loans is a great way for the government to steer people towards careers that are needed, and away from those that are not.

For example, the government could make a contract to pay back 50% of the student loans for people who successfully graduate with a medical or IT degree and similar degrees that have a high demand and are useful.
And absolutely zero government help for those who want to learn liberal arts, women's studies, sociology and so on.

The school in itself is "free", we pay taxes all our lifes, and so did our parents, so not exactly free, but burgers love the word free. Living is more expensive over here. With that said, we got a nice system for education indeed, so nice that most young muslim immigrants is abusing it for the gibs.

its called interest faggot. if they dont get their cut just for lending you the money to begin with and it was just a 1 for 1 why do it?

If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Is it really that hard to understand?

That's what you get when you bite the bait of "free education", you get fucking expensive as fuck education

Its a shame that parents never taught their kids how to tell bill collectors to fuck off.

university isn't for poor white american folk
when will you people learn?

soo...that webm.. they ded right?

Dont you guys have cheaper universities? or performance incentives? or bursaries?

I know the amounts arnt comparable, but I got a degree at a good one in SA for at $200 per subject, averaging about $2000 a year, and because my average was good enough I got $1000 back at the end of each year. Plus a company gave me a bursary and paid the $2000 each year, plus $3000 more for living expenses, So in total I actually made $4000 a year for studying, of which I spent $3000 and saved $1000 each year

You guys have a messed up system.

The nigga has been in school since 2004.......LOL. I went through 1st-12th and am in my second year of University in the time hes been in college. How do you goof all the time away?

Dunno about the UK but in Britain he'd have to bankrupt by default. It is not that bad anymore though and you get it wiped clean. Maybe a 10-15year setback compared to other people in terms of credit rating. He'll almost never get a mortgage though.

If he has 300K in debt, his parents are probably doctors too.

>1 POST BY THIS ID

I knew plenty of people like this in college. Taking massive loans, visiting Europe on them, never working summers.

Even OP dissent believe this story, our he'd stick around. I went to college, pulled modest loans, and worked full time.
Fuck anyone who won't do the same. You built that bed, now lie in it.

The housing bubble in Spain happened because people were retarded asking loans of 120-150% of the value of the house they wanted to buy. Then they couldn't pay the loan, got evicted and blamed the government

At the end of the day, you are just a sheep faggot if you dont learn a craft and make that your job. Get good at a craft, and the money will flow. Seems like americans are just too entitled, think they can live like their baby boomer parents while they are studying, who is this entitled, apparently many young americans

His post said ER doctors make 240k.

There's 3 semesters in a year.

Fall $3500
Spring $3500
Summer $3500
Figure at least $300-$500 for books per semester
>Inb4 hurr download them
You can't anymore, they use an electronic verification system

can someone explain why, if you're supposedly smart enough to be a med student, you'd choose to go to a private university for 8 years without scholarships, and instead take out a loan for every dime they're charging?

if anyone is wondering apparently one ded and one survive.

You really don't see a problem with somebody who has the potential to get further ahead in life than his wallet can take him? I don't understand how you can be supportive of a system that wants to rape you in the ass legally and without mercy because they felt like making you pay up.

My medical school is 44k a year and is apparently a bit on the cheap side for private school

Thats life. Making 200k After residency is easily achievable in primary care. 300k and up if you specialize

People bitch about how much a doctor makes, but i will have to pay roughly $800 in interest a month after i graduate which is insane off of a residents base salary of 45k. Physicians deserve to be financially compensated

Yet if you lost that money at a casino you would be laughed at and rightfully so, college is a con, most people shouldn't go, especially if they are going to take a meme course like liberal arts or feminist studies.

Firstly, those numbers are far larger than most people, which is about 60k. Still a lot more than it should, and it's because all the government grants allows colleges to ask for more, get fat with inflated admin positions (which are where most of the cost increases are).

except they will never do that when the medical degree because as of right know they KNOW that each graduate will pay back the loan with interest over the next 30 years. and the demand is so high for doctors they don't NEED to push people in that direction. Acceptance rates are already ~5% for medical school.

The point of collapse is loans are so large that the doctor dies before he can even pay back what he borrowed without interest.

Op here

Just reading your faggots responses along with all the Euro peons who get a billion free handouts and pay $30 euros a semester trying to educate is on how to afford college

>mfw 27 and broke so government paid for everything

Kicking ass at school too so I'll be getting scholarships after this

>have no marketable skills
>let me get a half a million dollar loan to pay for college because I just might amount to something one day

This is basically the equivalent of someone selling all their possessions, getting a second mortgage and spending the night at the casino because there might be a chance you will win.

How do these people don't see the flaws in their logic? Why do they subject themselves to what can basically be called a journey to slavery? Why don't they learn a valuable trade instead, something that will benefit them for the rest of their life and ensures you will always be able to make money with your skills.

This is one of the worst of Schlomo's scams, and you are an idiot if you participate. Never gamble with money you don't have.

Father was in the military so I got my school almost completely paid off for free, 120 credits in all for free. I'm even in pharmacy school and it applies to me

>medical student
>going to be making easy 100k+/yr
>payments will be easy unless the kid is retarded and tries to live like a king
>doesnt understand how to deffer loans while in school
>isnt being paid in residence like a retard

>The physicians who contributed to this data were, on average, between 20 and 30 years removed from medical school. These salaries do not begin until a decade or so after the doctor graduates from college

Nothing personal kid, but your reading comprehension is shit.

Most of these figures are heavily skewed by doctors who own their practice. A med student fresh out of residency isn't going to make anywhere close to that.

Trump is going to pull out of NATO so no more free college for you Yuros or Russia will take over.

Forgot books, since were a third word country that only costs me $20 per book, so about $100 a year
