Anyway, after the university refused to side with Peterson, they offered him the chance to debate the matter. Mary Dyson was one of the opponents. As you'd expect from a women's studies professor, she offered no real arguments, and basically just insinuated that Peterson is abusing students by not using their pronouns.

It's not that simple. Colleges are a business first and foremost. All the completely useless courses they offer are for people who are too stupid to pass a STEM curriculum. Think of it as a salad entree at a steak house. It's so the college can lower the bar and still get people's money.
These throw away courses will never go away. They are the bread and butter of modern US universities. And - believe me - these universities DON'T GIVE A FUCK about the actual education the students are getting. (with the exception of top-tier schools like Harvard/Stanford/MIT/etc)
