Probably along the lines of:
>Oh fuck, we can't sell to the government if we don't produce here

>yfw it was just a big publicity stunt

It was in a sense. Trump had talked about them during the campaign so he absolutely had to do something here. This could have gone on completely behind the scenes but it was made public to show him following through on a campaign promise. He did the right thing regardless.

He gave them a lot, they are the beneficiary here in this deal. But it needed to be done to set an example. For other big companies they won't get that kind of sweet deal.

The funny thing is that this is nothing new. States and cities provide incentives all the time to lure or retain businesses. Here in Cincinnati, they tried to keep Chiquita from relocating several years ago. Cinci failed and they relocated to Charlotte. They ended up moving their headquarters again anyway because they got an even better deal. Sanders is an idiot.

>For other big companies they won't get that kind of sweet deal.
ow do you know? Obama started with GM and then rolled with other companies (in green tech and stuff).

Because when obongo leafs Trump will have other tools at his disposal.

Trumps first step strategy is simply this: punish severely or reward extremely. It works because it conditions people, companies, media to do as you say even when you lack obvious leverage.

>He gave them a lot

They already get the same stuff he sweetened it a bit further

Trump wanted some political points asap. This deal was fucking terrible to b h

I can literally feel America getting greater.

>from Cincinnati
>Cinci
get your shit straight, everyone from the 'nati knows it's Cincy.

Really though, is it the president's role to rule the economy with an iron fist?

You're right there. Not sure why I typed it out that way. I wouldn't say this is ruling over anything though. This is one small facet of the economy and he's letting businesses know that if you want to take jobs out of this country there is a price to pay. If you stay we will try and find a way to meet you in the middle and reward you with some incentives to make up for the loss in higher salaries that you'll have to pay to remain here.

Because Monsanto and biotech doesn't own Carrier. Pay to play.

>$700 a year for 10 years per job saved
>terrible

Pick one.

'We do feel forgotten': About 1,300 Carrier employees will still lose their jobs, despite Trump's deal

hm.. really makes your nog jog

Obama saves the us auto industry. Republicans don't even remember.

It's obviously not ideal. The alternative was for every job to leave. Some workers are happy today while others will be looking for new jobs soon. Regardless, Trump has changed the perception about relocating businesses outside this country. It will be a more difficult decision at the very least, going forward.

Yep, can't wait to make America great again by bailing out every company to incentivise them to only do business domestically.

This is a great strategy that is absolutely sustainable and won't lead to massive inflation or anything.

It seems a bit rich to criticise Trump for not saving every single job when

>a) 2,300 jobs were going to be lost before Trump got involved, now half of them won't be

>b) he's not even president yet

Is that why detroit is a shell of its former self?

Indiana's a wooded shithole too

You can walk safely through Indiana as long as you avoid a few choice locations that ironically look similar to detroit and are filled with the same kind of people.

>this idiot Trump is going to give us a great deal if we just give him some good PR and tell the country we're keeping a handful of jobs in the country

How was it terrible?

>$700 per job saved per year
>Carrier to invest $16 million in plant
>average wage of Carrier jobs $42,000
>tax paid by employed worker exceeds tax break to company by order of magnitude
>not even getting into the additional costs caused by unemployed people (welfare, social costs, drug addiction, retraining etc)

The deal is pretty amazing desu

He did well and exactly in a way that was expected of him.
I hope he keeps using his power in this way.

>For other big companies they won't get that kind of sweet deal.

If they don't get this kind of sweet deal they'll just close.

I say cancel any US patents companies hold if they continue outsourcing.

>delusional

It goes down from here kiddo.

Hey CTR, I thought Hillary gave the last of her money to Jill "Scamming the libtards" Stein... what are you still doing here?

We're paid up until the end of the year.

No

Until it is assured that Trump will be president he doesn't have the kind of negociating power to threaten companies with tax barriers.

Not losing all of the jobs is pretty impressive, if he can get every company to let go only half of its employees, America will be on the way too greatness.

>Obama gave GM a loan
>saves millions of jobs
>Trump aka Pence gives them plenty of tax breaks
>save a few hundred jobs

People really just eat up anything, don't they.

But Pence is the governor of Indiana?

Great US, now the manufacturing building will be taken over by the Germans or the Chinese.

He needed to save all 2300 jobs.
Saving only half he comes across as a bit if a cuck.
Carrier knew this and had the upper hand in negotiations.

Both sides benefitted. It doesn't matter how much carrier "got", because Indiana didn't lose anything.

Yes, and Trump said that this deal was negotiated by Pence, with his help.

>Until it is assured
What are you flapping your socialist cockhole about? It IS assured.

One is the President for years beforehand, the other literally hasn't started the job yet and is already succeeding.

2300 jobs are at carrier, there would be additional outside losses as a result of closing up shop.

I hear the need for shills for female dictators is a tight market... good luck to you!
