Galileo basically was being an ass and trying to force people to believe his theory without realizing the reason the Church had kept all their theories was because there were YEARS of extensive testing and study to ground them and make them hold water. They were perfectly willing to accept heliocentrism if so long as Galileo was willing to put it through the same testing and studying the various accepted theories had gone through.
