Catalan independence is a very recent phenomenon with little to no historical backing.
The only instances where Catalans would be considered "independent" would be:
a) during the Civil war literally a couple weeks before they all got anally raped by Nationalist badassing.
b) Aragon, a kingdom which is NOT catalan, and to which "Catalonia" was a county of. Yes a rich and influencial one, but still. The Kingdom of Aragon. (Aragonese is also one of the most based and nationalist regions of Spain, which doesnt make sense).
Catalans are trying to spread their cancer but ended with less than 1% of the vote in Valencia area, and the balear islands could not give a single fuck.
The new age of Catalonian independence was initiated by a (((gentleman))) named Jordi Puyol. At the time and until recently he was praised as the God Emperor of Catalonia. Truth is he is a thief like all Catalans. EVERY single construction or project in Catalonia, would have 3-5% of the cost go directly to his family cartel thing he set up.
Eventually somewhere in the 80s, Spanish govt. started investigated "where the fuck is the money going", so he passed the "Estatut", with the support of the sell-out cuck liberals to get to power, granting Catalonia "special status".
From this moment on the diverged the Catalan education system into a "historically corrected" version. Which is where 30-40 years later we have people so blindly indoctrinated to believe they are special (from a region where close to 50% of the population is non-Catalan).
Unlike the rest of Spain, they were not taught about how Spain found America and made it its bitch. No, they learned how awful Spain was (keep in mind Columbus was financed and backed mostly by Aragonese/Catalans), and their atrocities which we super-cool PC catalans had nothing to do with. Basically a we-wuz-kangz edition of Spain.
Now to the recent Catalan lies.
Catalans and their slogan of "Espanya ens roba" is a myth. Thinking themselves to be the economic powerhouse of Spain. Truth is only the city of Madrid, not the region, creates three times the GDP of entire Catalonia to begin with.
Secondly, Catalans claiming that they are being used as a piggy bank for Spain, lie. On average every tax-paying Spaniard has to pay nearly 1000 € a year to support these goys and their cultural bubble, along with false economic stability (all being subsidized by Spain).
Worst part is that this money Spaniards put into these god-forgetten rats, well what is it used for?
Recently I found myself taking part in a trip with some friends to Barcelona, where we took the "official" (Catalan indoctrination approved) tour. 2 hours of tour. 15 mins at the beginning selling us the independence story, at this point I was interested because I had never heard of this bullshit that this lib-tard whore was saying (keep in mind I engaged in sceptic mode the second she told us about the "Refugees welcome" banner on the town hall and how they are Europeans who are open and went to help). So I did my own research. Back to the story. EVERY single site we visited had a story about how bad Spain was, taking for example the jail. She told us about how the Spanish tortured and violated the rights of Jews and Muslims in these rooms. etc.
Spanish tax-payer money goes so that they can spread their propaganda, and live in their "European city" (which in 1992 was completely remodelled using exclusively Spanish tax-payer money to look nice). Now these sons of whores go around boasting about this artificially beautiful city as if they built it themselves and Spain is taking advantage of them.
It's the same in the UK - the English are a fucking sinking ship - oops I mean they've already sunk, and they're a dead-weight pulling us Scots down with them.
Muslim flooded cities, literally 30% brown population, and probably 20% other foreigners, and the Scottish industries have to subsidise every fucking region of these pathetic scroungers who can't even defend their communities.

Aragon was ruled by catalans during almost 300 years. You could consider this 300 years of an independent nation with catalan culture as primary. Also there're the catalan constitutions, the consulate of the sea and other documents that prove this importance of the culture during that period. You are right saying catalonia is now an economic shithole, but still I think every culture has it's right to a nation, nothing more. Otherwise you shouldn't complain about the moors and other vile creatures.
