may2015.com/featured/a-history-of-every-general-election-since-1945-in-12-graphs/ >No election was more important than 2001, often ignored by history. Nothing seemed to change. Labour lost just six seats, and the Tories won just one. But Blair had quietly lost 3 million voters. >Turnout had collapsed. In the fifteen elections from 1945 to 1997, turnout was always above 70 per cent. It had technically fallen to a post-war low of 71 per cent in 1997, but it had been at 72 per cent four times before (1945, 1970, October 1974, 1983) before recovering at the next election. >Then in 2001 it fell to 59 per cent. Labour’s vote share only fell from 43 to 41 per cent, but it had lost a fifth of its voters. Fewer people voted in 2001 than had at any election since 1945, even though there were now 11 million more eligible voters.

The nation he craves is dead and Christianity is the only thing with some semblance of permanency he can cling to. He needs to realise there's a time and a place for it and that some time you have to actually defend it - and I don't mean by "debating" some atheist university student on its value.

LARPing, shitposts, tripfag drama and, if you are lucky, some political discussion(better wait until NEET hours for that though).
The Senate still has to vote him in, which isn't necessarily going to happen.
Rex, like Trump, has no government experience, but he has been with Exxon for a long time, and knows many powerful people around the world. Trump said that he likes Tillerson because he knows so much about how the world works. The establishment is weary because Tillerson has been relatively close to Putin in the past. Indeed he has been awarded some medal by the Russian state before.
The altright academics will, I think, be quite okay with this choice. BBut like I said, the Senate still has to vote to accept Tillerson.

we're not going to take this country back we have to build a new one, a new socialist state which cares about each and every national comrade
>He has neither money nor does he have a name, he has behind him not a single newspaper, he has no party. He has everything against him, yet he wants to fight for everything. He wants to fight against the employers, he wants to fight against the proletarians, he wants to fight against the current democratic state and against the autonomous regions, he wants to fight against the religions, he wants to fight against the organized society as we have today, the society of the capital and the trade unions, there is absolutley nothing against which this man would not fight. He wants to build a new state, a new society and has absolutley no one behind him. Only a madman would untertake this task, to go out alone and declare war on a whole majority in all areas.
>It was not easy this fight, and yet gradually the success began to show, against the gagging methods as well as the methods of ridicule, mockery and against the lies and slanders then finally against the violence. The young movement began to win through, you have all expeirianced this.
>They joined one by one and then you have all had the inner feeling: we will win this fight for power in Germany anyway, it may be difficult but what speaks well for us is the reason, it is the realization that the current state can not be maintained much longer, that it is only a matter of time until it breaks either way, it is also the feeling of the need for a revaluation of the many ideas. In the end there was also - i would say - a mystical belief in the immortality of our people - a people that would have been destroyed by the continuation of the given state.

>Why did this happen? A mix of factors
1. A sort of hopeless foreknowledge that god himself couldn't stop Blair winning again stirring up huge apathy amongst everyone 2. Blair had taken Labour from "The guys on 'your' side" to "Wanks in suits" in record time. The sheer speed of that utter disillusionment is often overlooked (though in some parts of England it obviously took longer to filter down.) but it's perhaps one of the most impressive things - Blair didn't succeed in making Labour look competent in the long term, but he did succeed in making it slick and soulless. 3. Blair essentially won on Tory apathy instead of Tories switching allegiance. 4. The rush to feel the force of history behind you as you kick out a stagnant Conservative government wasn't really there as it was in 1997. 1997 was a "battle" for the county just like 1992 - but in 1992 it was a fair fight whereas 1997 was essentially the token battle the Conservatives had to march into with a smile while knowing nearly all of them would fall. 2001 by comparison wasn't even a revolt against the New Labour hegemony.
What's interesting is that Blair was somewhat afraid of the apathy that was occurring - at least in his book - but seems to have thought he handled it well at the time. In reality the country has yet to recover (save for the Brexit vote.) from what he did, and the Labour party probably never will.
Brayden Ramirez
We need a crash unfortunately, that's the only way people will be able to express themselves again (because jobs, infrastructure and multicult policing will have gone through the floor). On the topic of Christmas, I'm really fucking fed up with how commercialised and sickeningly "nice" it's become. Christmas to me has always primarily been a religious celebration, not the celebration of hedonism it is now. I really wish it could become more religious, but it won't because we're no longer a religious society in the slightest. An utter damnation.

>"give the government more taxes for gibs" Except that Ed Miliband was promising to cut welfare too.
Labour are an absolute state, but don't assume they're actually left-wing at any point after 1997. (Right now they sort of vaguely should be, but right now they're not a coherent political entity at all, they're infighting to a degree that makes the second Spanish Republic look united.)
If Corbyn gets a proper purge in, then they might be lefty. At the moment, using the most recent trends from the party, they're neoliberal globalists who'd throw the poor under the bus all the same.
Don't forget: Labour rolled out JSA instead of going back to the pre-1996 benefits regime Tony Blair's "New Deal" set about moves towards partial workfare among other nonsense. New Labour created Work Capacity Assessments (to try and use a points system to cheat people out of disability benefit on numerical grounds instead of adopting a more common-sense approach.) in 2007 or so.
There's a reason the only thing a Blairite can bleat when cornered is "MUH-INIMUM WAGE! MUH-INIMUM WAGE!"
Benjamin Gomez
>tolled everyone that May was just pandering and wasn't going to do any of the things in the speech >tolled everyone that May was going to bring the snoopers charter in >Tolled everyone that the Tories will not let us leave the EU properly >Tolled everyone immigration will not be lowered under the Tories

Except the combination of the old Pagan winter festivals with the Christian celebration of the birth of Christ made Christmas unique among religious celebrations. There's a reason why Christmas has always been more celebrated than Easter, despite Easter being more important.
