How do we fix American Education System?

How do we fix American Education System?

school choice

let the awful public school system rot

In 4th grade I had a question on my math test that said "If a coin is tossed 20 times and it lands on heads all 20 times, is the next flip more likely heads?" I answered yes, because if you get 20 flips in a row it probably isn't a fair coin. Dumbass teacher marked me wrong. I'm currently studying math for my phd.

Stop paying your 35% and demand more of your taxes go to education as opposed to millitary spending

By getting rid of teachers unions and allowing parents to chose where their kids go to school.

Get rid of common core and set a cap for how much textbooks can cost as well.

>implying throwing more money at a shitty school system will fix it

Maybe Marty´s pizza was XXL King size?

this. my hometown of philly keeps on dumping money into the school system like there's no fucking tomorrow but yet they still suck major cock.

By stating both pizza are same size beforehand you dumb fuck.

>How do we fix American Education System?

hello Portugal

if that pic is real (seriously skeptical) that is a very stupid teacher.

THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE

this isn't real

Philly area here. It pisses me off how badly Philly squanders its tax money. The new soda tax especially pissed me off.

I agree, this question was stupid

>Studies Maths PHD

>Get crippling debt

Nice maths logic fag

DUDE

200K A YEAR

STARTING

LMAO

you're not guaranteed that you fucking nigger.

You still have to get the job in the first place, and remember, you're here forever

>soda tax
I thought Yankees were the fathers of freedom? Wtf?
Cascadians confirmed new real Americans

Make school a privilege, not a right again. As in allow schools to expel people, and deny service to retards (they ain't learning shit anyways). If you could just kick out the niggers and beaners that cause problems all day and turn school into a fucking zoo, the quality of teachers would improve immediately. Maybe even allow corporal punishment again.

I'd go teach, my dad would probably love teaching a class or two during retirement. But nobody wants to deal with the fucking animals in there when you have ZERO power to force them to respect your authoritah.

nothing is real, until you read it in the ny times

>Inb4 more money

The problem isn't school, is the students. Even the shittiest school can teach if the students were to put a bit of effort.

green marker....hmmmm

They've been preaching "muh funding" for decades, it does nothing

the y axis on there is meaningless

see

>just throw money at it until it fixes itself
and that's why your education system is shit

Also, grad school is free

Segregation.

Reinstate it.

No it's still 1/2 chance

>msnbc
>abc
>bbc
>great news sources
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Is this an outline of goatse?

This is retarded and 100% good goy

>Doesn't specialize and seek paid internships and companies during school
You're doing it wrong if you don't already have a job lined up at least a year before graduating.

You're correct, but you missed the point of the question. Sure, it could be a trick coin, or it could just be a very unlikely state you found yourself in. Assuming no trickery, it's just as likely to flop next time.

(.5)^20 = 9.53674316e-7

Not a fair coin

>a year before graduating.

Bitch if you dont have a signed contract, you dont have shit.

You'll learn

>stop paying your taxes, that'll show 'em
the best protests always come from prison cells

The probability of that happening is 9,5x10^-7. It's infinitely more probable that the coin is not fair.

You can't tell it's not a fair coin even if you had 1000 heads

>NPR great news source
>NYT great news source
>WaPo great news source
>AP great news source
>NBC great news source
>Slate great news source
it's like you tried to put the fakest news possible in the most trustworthy bubbles.
>it says CNN is better than nothing too

Kinda my thought. No mention of how big each pizza was. If one drank 4/6 of a gallon and the other 5/6 of a quart, the first would still be a greater volume.

Philly here. It's used to feed the monkeys

stealth rare

Make EGA,SGA, and FGA mandatory reading for all students.

You're wrong but I don't think you're intelligent enough to realize why

Rich counties/cities siphon most of the money set aside for education. And that goes for most places in the world as well.

Oh dear

>nbc
>bbc
>wapo
>not biased

Good one

and yet it's entirely possible that it IS a fair coin, and you're in the berenstain universe. Math questions don't always have to be based on reality, the point is can you into basic probability. You sound like the type who spent a lot of time in detention because the teacher was wrong and you just HAD to correct them, even when you weren't right, either.

can't unsee

Like the guy who died by taking an asteroid in his head. But it happened

how many heads in a row before you get suspicious that it's not a fair coin?

million-to-one chances happen all the time. It's your stubborn idiocy that prevents you from understanding that nothing except your own lack of faith is keeping a coin from landing on the same side 20 times. Unlikely, yes, but it's also unlikely that ribonucleic acids would coalesce into self-replicating DNA, and yet here we are.

Reminds me of the poor guy that killed 61 qurupekos and still didn't get a flintstone. Fucking desire sensor.

Still, the chance of it being a fair coin is negligible. Enough to dismiss it.

That's exactly the point.
The teacher needs to be fired.

The chance of it being heads on the 21st time would be 1/(2^21), so you were wrong

If you were really doing a maths PhD you would know that

Didn't realize pol was this statistically illiterate

I would trust Infowars before most of that other shit.
Breitbart is really the only decent source I've seen as of late.

THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

By that logic you should use the Martingale system to always beat the Casino at Roulette.

Because so long as it never goes red 20 times you'll only ever win, right?

The CEO of nyt is a pedoscum buttlicker who covered up Jimmy Savile crimes against children on the BBC

One guy in billions of humans who lived. It was bound to happen eventually. If you toss a coin 20 times and it always fall head you have a good reason to be mad.

I remember that cap, holy shit.

I thought I had it bad with 20+ Lucent Narga with no moonshard, that's a completely different level though.

What kind of fucktarded math question is that? What is the right answer even supposed to be, what the teacher wrote in?

>question talks about eating pizza
>everyone knows pizza is made to play domino on

Can't fix stupidity.

This. I fucking hate teachers with IQs < 90. And there are a LOT of them. Pisses me off so much.

reread what I wrote
you're completely missing the point

This
And if it goes 10 red and you're ruined just whine to the director and tell him it's tricked

Education majors are always the party girls

Is the No Child Left Behind system true?
Do you actually take classes with the mentally handicapped? Is it common?

the first non retard leaf

>4th grade
>be one of those kids that got private math lessons because school was too easy
>always wanted to show that i knew material from several grades higher
>math question about the area of square with side length 2cm
>put answer (2cm)^2
>TECHNICALLY CORRECT
>marked wrong
>argue with the teacher for half an hour after class after it got graded
>eventually he admits i'm technically right
>still dont get the points on the test
>still aced every math class through high school
>currently on the edge of dropping out of university honours math program due to lack of work ethic and crippling drug addiction

I was still right

Trick flip. It's possible to practice enough to keep the speed and height of your flip the same, and change the outcome based on the height of your catch.

>If you were really doing a maths PhD you would know that
Not necessarily. You have to have a certain...feel...for probability which is different from the feel you get for, say, analysis. But, you're probably right.

>tfw no time to play MH because of exams and DQ7 finally arriving

>tfw faulty L on 3DS

Well what's your point?

My understanding is that you're completely negating unlikely scenario's.

even at 1e-7 chances it's still not 0.

Also, if I gave a class of 100 people 1 coin each, and told them to all flip until they get 20 heads in a row, can you calculate how many tries before eventually one of them gets it?

(a math major should be able to do this)

fake

He's trying to straw man

There is no such thing as statistical probability. Everything is 50/50. It either is or isn't. Math is for retards.

...how is that not right?

besides the inferior metric system, of course.

Then the probability stops being 0,5 tho.

this was the kids point

>There is no such thing as statistical probability

nigga wat

You should have stated out both situations, since there is no perfect answer

>Kinda my thought.

that was the kids thought too.

you missed the point of quizzing 4th graders, or anyone really.

Get rid of it. Smart people will educate their own kids, and smart rich people will pay for tutors. Idiots never had a chance to begin with, so might as well cut our losses.

the correct answer was 4cm^2

If you have infinitely many trials, yes the extremely unlikely can happen, but if you have one trial and the results are extreme, statistical significance (rejecting the null hypothesis of a fair coin) is reasonable.

>tfw have literally only played 3U because 3DS triggers are half-broken and I don't want to be on the tiny screen anyway

Fucking hell Capcom, just bite the bullet and give me another one on a home console. Maybe Switch will get one, that would be nice.

Also good luck on exams user, mine finished on Monday.

the answer is 2E-4 m^2

This. All these mainstream news sources were universally wrong about Trump.

yeah do what this shill said and then when society gets worse just blame someone who looks different than you

Moreover, according to quantic physics, everything is, until you watch the outcome
So the coin is head and tail at first
And after it is head

you definitely need a heavy case of autism to study math post 18yo

It's rarely a teacher problem, most students just don't try.
Education is seen as a chore, instead of an opportunity.
As with most american issues, good parenting would solve it.

Thanks.

Man that's crazy.

I gotta read up on that Quantic Physics you speak of muhammad.

2/3 chance. Goat goat car.

I'm not sure most parents care.

Soon after my kid's class started this year, the teacher put four in an advanced literacy group: featuring tougher reading, spelling, and vocabulary.

She wrote home to parents and explained that she started the group based on initial assessments, but she'd welcome and support any other student if they and their parents wanted to give it a try. No one moved up, and so I assume there was no interest.

I've volunteered to help out in the class a couple of times, and the kids are easily bright enough to handle the more interesting material. I think that most parents have low expectations for their own children.
