Sup Forums on History

Hey Sup Forums,
I am currently studying History at my University, and I wondered if learning History, not just your own History but History in general could be concidered Redpilled.

>Inb4 STEM-Memes

Whilst we all usually make a ton of jokes on how we're all gonna be cab Drivers at some point, many of my fellow students tend to have pretty good Jobs afterwards, and if everything fails you can still become a teacher and redpill the youth.

Also id like to know if someone here actually has studied a similar subject and could provide me with some information or if all of you actually fell for the STEM Meme.

Plus any help with learning Latin is appreaciated.

Its important to take back the institutions from leftists and that means getting jobs in university teaching positions and hiring like minds. Also writing red pilled popular history books.

For example in the us the main resource on Hitler is Rise and fall of the third Reich by William Shirer. Its the one that originated lampshades

History is a hobby, not a career. But if you can at least help take back academia from the left, then godspeed my brother.

T. German pride enthusiast

Didnt even know that to be quite honest.

Ive always loved History and the main goal of me studying it is to reverse this Leftist corruption of said History. Maybe ill become a professor at some point, but ill see about that.
Point is, in German Schools History usually revolves around self-loathing and how bad we are and how everything is connected to Hitler, instead of putting emphasis on the achievements our nation has made to mankind.

History is written by the victors. That means that not everything in the history books is true. Case in point they made the nazis the most evil beings to ever exist ever when ther were not.

Sure would love too.
Nearly all Social Study Courses, like German or Archaelogy, Gender Studies (of course) are gigantic Leftist Tumors.
AMA regarding History btw. If I had to make a sacrifice to educate myself then my fellow Sup Forumsacks should also profit.

Happy to give some advice user but first of all, know you won't be speaking the language of the Caesars, you'll be speaking a slowly modernised version of Latin over the centuries. Know that, there's only around 150 people in the world who can speak Latin (even modernised) fluently and most live within Vatican City and also be prepared for the very weird rules & pronunciation's. Latin has some very strange pronunciations, which are hard to overcome for a native English speaker, especially since the alphabet is so recognisable.
Check out this forum, it helped me a great deal latindiscussion.com/forum/

Here is a guide to grammar in Latin (very helpful) also: kcs.org.uk/sites/default/files/Latin Grammar Guide.pdf

But to give you an idea of how complicated the rules to Latin are (best description I've found), 1. Once a subordinate clause or phrase is begun, it must be
completed before the rest of the sentence can proceed.
2. When one subordinate construction embraces another, the embraced one must be completed before the embracing one can
proceed.
3. A Main Clause must be completed before another Main Clause can
start.

Okay, serious question then: who were the best fascist philosophers? What material did the fascist governments of the day found their ideology upon?

God Bless you, user.
May you be blessed with eternal Tea and Crumpets for your help.

Ive had a Latin course over the first semester but sadly didnt really take a lot from it.
I passed both Exams of the Course, but here I stand not really knowing much about it.
Currently my courses focus on medieval history (VERY interesting) and thus a lot of the Texts are in medieval Latin (basically Latin with a few different words).
Again, thanks. Will check out both sources and hopefully it will help!

Shirer was fucking based and conservative as fuck, what are you talking about?

HIs book depicts Hitler as a man that used "progressive" measure in the name of the common good and wealth redistribution, a narrative that goes against everything left.

>studying History at a University
>not reading primary sources for 1000 times cheaper

i hate you.

Im not an expert, so dont take my Word for Gold.

Many fascists (as far as I know) founded their ideology on modern Philosophers like Nietzsche, but also referred to some from antiquity like Plato for example. Platos Ideal of a State was de facto a National Socialist State where those of the purest Genetics would be the Leaders of the Land, those who were Strong, but not smart the Soldiers and everyone else would basically serve them or be killed at birth if they were too inferior.

On top of that Facism heavily revolved around the notion that the strongest and best are ment to lead and to survive and thus the goal of the State should be nothing different.

Not every Country has a broken Education System like the US.
I pay 260 Bucks every 6 Months in Tuition with access to some of the oldest Sources and Literature in German History.

This is the one people always mention on /lit/ when people want to learn Latin

OP
What jobs do people you know who graduated history do afterwards?

You're not smart enough to educate yourself, idiot. That's why you're not even smart enough to get into college, which is a severe insult.

Depends.
One of the older ones is right now teaching Medicine History to Medicine First Semesters at the University Clinic here in Bonn.
Several went into Journalism and usually wind up a bit further away from the mainstream media. Teachers are also among them. And last but not least:
A friend of my Father wrote a book about a WW2 Plane and has made quite a lot of cash with it. He is currently residing in a Villa in Vienna, he even founded a local politcal Party together with my father. Though to my knowledge he didnt study history.
TL;DR: You can get mighty cash with History, if you have a knick for writing or know how to sell it.

History is literally time 5 most red-pilled things you can study, Kraut-cuck. Don't worry about what anyone says. History or philosophy - often the two are taught at the same time. You'll be fine.

Im literally studying both.
The purpose of this thread is also to encourage all Sup Forumsacks to take a good look at History.
You cannot break leftist Narratives without knowledge to do so.

Don't mention it user and good luck too, because Latin is a bitch.
Information officer, academic librarians, heritage manager, museum related jobs, teaching, etc. It's not particularly difficult to make a career out of. Well, it's as difficult as making a career out of any subject related to that field.

I am like 6 months away from my masters.

make sure to pour your heart into papers. Everything you do there is to gather vitamin B, everything else doesnt matter. You need a network if you want to be successful
and if you get really lucky and get offered to be published before you have a PHD, take the offer

Im studying history and philosophy at the moment, its honestly very eye opening. It puts everything into perspective and you can see the big picture in everything, its actually kind of scary.

Im in my 3rd Semester.
So far Ive had a bit of trouble of finding in, slacked a lot, met new people, ditched some bitchy ones etc. I even joined the student Council.
Im probably gonna get a grip and really pour my heart and soul into it, especially since my Performance so far was rather average, and below what I could possibly achieve.

Thanks as well btw

I had like a 1.3 in my bachelors as overall grade, aim for something around that. I dont think grades before the 3rd term matter for the final grade. so its definitely not too late.

Dont realize halfway through that youre crazy, that happened to me and my career is basically dead cause I lost my network.
if you need a Korrekturleser (for consistency and Inhalt) feel free to drop an emailadress or something.

A decent understanding or at least an attempt of learning history is quintessential to being redpilled.

People who support this new age crap assume that up until the 20th century people have been profoundly stupid and amoral concerning politics and such.

The blue pill is seeing ones self as a god and not caring for the future consequences, the red pill is admitting we are not perfect and history is not some line where culture, politics and peace only increase.

>People who support this new age crap assume that up until the 20th century people have been profoundly stupid and amoral
This. I won't stop until normies stop using the phrase "Dark Ages" and movies like Ironclad aren't made any more.

youtube.com/watch?v=m0zYZhJXELQ

Im currently at 2.7 I think, that is only taking into account the Einführungsprüfungen. They usually dont count that much so there is still room to git gud.
Id like a Korrekturleser very much. I rarely use my Email Adress and since this is Sup Forums Imma create a new one real quick.
Or if you have anything that I could contact you on just dump it in the meantime.
My first Hausarbeiten will probably be in February, so I wont be a bother.

1)The most redpilled~Psalms 34:8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. 2)I don't know anything really about latin, but Hebrew has a really interesting things going on.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_Hebrew Maybe study alittle basic linguistics firs for your latin learning. It gives you a base to stand on . t.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistics

Good Idea, might do that.

You obviously have a head start, so aim high my dude.

sent

good night

Will do my dude, and thank you too!

Whilst my interest in the Medieval Times had been average at best in the Past, I fully agree with you as of right now.
People who call the Medieval Ages "Dark", are simply uneducated in the sense that they probably just dont know any better

My field is the late Roman Republic & the beginning of the Prinicipate (approximately 100 BC to 70-75 AD) but yes, medieval stereotypes frustrate me beyond no end.

This user is sorta right about Latin, but if you do the right course you'll be reading Caesar and Tacitus like a champ in a year. With no productive skills to learn you can just power through the grammar in a short while especially if you have autism powers, since it's a very regular and logical language. Just don't be a fag and skimp on learning your goddamn vocabulary.
Now-Latin and Church Latin are faggotry - avoid. If they try and tell you that C is pronounced CH, walk the fuck away.
t. Latin teacher since 2000

Oh of course you can read the classics. Why else would you learn Latin? Good luck with spoken Latin though.

Neo-Latin. Fuck.
Also, -I recommend Oxford Latin Course and Reading Latin. The first is intended for kids, but it's still reasonably rigorous and has baby-Latin for you practise on before they sic Tacitus and his constant eliding of words on you.

classical Latin* rather

What got me was how great Roman names are pronounced in Latin. It's sort of like a kick in the balls when you learn Caesar was actually "Kaiser" and Cicero was, what? Cheech-ero I think the pronunciation is.

History is clearly the most red pilled field of study. It is so because it vindicates no ideology and will offend any inflexible sensibility, is resistant to interpretation yet improves your interpretation of all human events.

Look for old history books. Books that were published 50+ years ago. Compare with what is taught today.

Do you mean history was better or worse then? Because old historian methods leads to people (even today, I see it on Sup Forums all the time) thinking a few orgies destroyed Rome because "muh degenerancy" - a theory mostly propagated by Edward Gibbon, an 18th century historian who was discredited when methods for determining real history became more solid as opposed to guessing & coming to a "logical" conclusion aka the old way.

Going back to Rome and orgies, whenever you hear somebody say "Rome fell because " you can be almost 100% sure they got it, even if not directly, from a historian prior to the 20th century. They created these shitty myths. History is never that simple.

It's a pretty redpilled carrer. You're going to have to read a lot and work on your verbal skills. Knowing more than just one language could also be useful. I've seen a lot of redpilled historian Sup Forumsacks too, if you enjoy it go for it. It will give you a good advance for politics and a good field for a clear foresight.

Very interesting! I personally find the Age of Late Antiquity most interesting.
The Fall of Rome.
Sadly, I dont know that much about the fall of the Roman Republic.

An old book said that someday airplanes would be able to cross the ocean. It supposed that floating refueling stations would be used. It was just interesting.

>Point is, in German Schools History usually revolves around self-loathing and how bad we are and how everything is connected to Hitler, instead of putting emphasis on the achievements our nation has made to mankind.
Dont forget your people destroyed rome too. I would say germans at one time were like muslims in europe and america.

Personally when I started this Thread I didnt think id have such interesting conversations and this amount of people actually interested in the subjects.

The "Rome fell because of ______ " thing is also quite prominent here.
People have told me the following things have singlehandedly destroyed Rome:
>Christianity
>Germans (lmao)
>Degeneracy
>Civil War
>Interbreeding with Non-Romans thus making the Romans basically extinct
>Plagues

In the End it was probably a hefty mixture of all of them. Still, I personally like to theorise around the Impact of Christianity on Rome a lot. When Constantine legalized it in the Early 4th Century it quickly became the cause of many religious disputes (Arianism for example) which in return caused Rome to weaken.
What do you think?

>Rome
>Destroyed singlehandidly by Germanic Hordes

Also
>Huns
>Germans

We saw the crumbeling, pathetic shadow of its former Glory and concquered it, whilst also preserving many of its achievements.
We were far below them on a cultural level, but still, Rome was dying, we mearly split the corpse I'd say.

Thanks!

Figures a german would get an 88...

Also yeah rome was ripe for taking due to degeneracy, laziness and insane leaders that didnt really care about the people.

I think there's no concrete answer but the Edict of Caracalla is probably as close as we can get to a point where Rome begin to decline in power, when citizenship was offered to everybody within the boundaries of the empire. But there were social and cultural factors that pre-date the fall of the Republic that could've arguably contributed.

Oh, and of course without a doubt, the system of having multiple leaders with no defined boundaries, and no shared power (such as in the case of the two Triumvirates, which even with established boundaries still fell apart within a decade.)

I also found the complete lack of self awareness astounishing.
Like how in the second half of the 5th Century the Romans fought Civil Wars over an Empire that was basically non existent at this point, killed of each other over a Throne that reigned over nothing. And when Romulus Augustulus (I think that was him) finally came out as victor, Odoaker swept in and kicked him out.
I think what both the Roman and the Byzantine Empire had in common is that throughout their history they failed to set their priorities straight. You dont start a civil war when Vandals are overtaking your richest Province.
You dont send your army home to destroy pictures of Apostels when the Turks are invading your land.

Lmao just noticed.
Basically the Leaders beating their skulls in while their Empire was being conquered around them. There were literally Generals who would rather see Rome lose all its territory then to have one of their Rivals in Charge. Insane.

I think many notable figures in Rome, citizens and probably even slaves well enough off to understand politics had self awareness, but the empires boundaries were such a size, with 4 different rulers (under Diocletian's Dominate) that one man attempting to unifying Rome (as Octavian and arguably Julius Caesar did 400 years earlier) was an impossibility. The political climate was different too. Didn't Rome have two Senates by the 5th Century?

In 395 Rome seperated into the Eastern and Western Roman Empire with the Death of Theodosius I. between his two Sons
Both Parts were now Governed by one Augustus, which was nothing uncommon as under Diocletian there had already been 4 different Rulers (Two Augustus, Two Caesars).
Whilst originally nothing special, as the dominant mentality back then was still that the Empire was unified, the Western Roman Empire was extremly overstreched, whilst Eastern Rome was doing fine for now. With the Huns harrassing Roman Borders since 375 and several Foederati Tribes which Theodosius had lost to roaming on Roman Soil the West was facing with a very dire situation. But instead of organizing the Troops and unifying and thus defending the Borders for decades the Western Armies turned on each other, leaving Huns and other Germanic Tribes to establish Kingdoms freely (Visigoths, Vandals, Ostrogoths just to name a few). This lead to several DISASTROUS habbening like the conquering of Carthage and the Province of Africa by the Vandals nearly without a fight (because the Legions were off bashing in each others skulls), and guess what they found there? The Lions Share of the ROMAN FLEET, ungarded, unused and ready to set sail which prompted the Vandals to harass Roman Trade and even sack Rome itself at one Point. When finally Aetius, one of the more powerful Generals defeated Attila the Hun at the Battle of the Katalaunian Fields 452. At this point it was already too late and said battle cost western Rome maybe its last military manpower.
Eastern Rome in the meantime had their fair share of fighting with the Sassanids in the East, and only helped Western Rome occasionally, placing their own gains and superiority over the integrety of half the Empire.

Not sure if you knew any of this, but if not, youre welcome!

Thank you, and no! I genuinely didn't know most of that, and even though I studied the reign of Dicoletian, wasn't aware that the rulers were two Caesars/two Augustus. I understand why Rome split into East & West, and I can't think of another logical conclusion given the sheer work with ancient technology it would've been to run an empire so vast. Even communicating would be difficult. But I know militarily it was a mistake, and they would inevitably collapse or compete with each other. If Rome, while united under one banner, was constantly embroiled in civil wars with each other (bar the Pax Romana of course) then an East and West Rome would have no chance of co-existence.

I know Diocletian died a lonely and depressed old man though, and was forced to watch his entire system fall infront of his eyes.

Diocletian was probably one of the last truly great Leaders of the Roman Empire.
His System of Two Leaders (called Augusti) and Two Sub-Leaders (Called Caesari) held together an Empire that nearly collapsed during the 3rd Century. His Word still counted a lot even after he had resigned from his position.
Id invite you over for said Tea and Crumpets I promised, as I really enjoy talking to you, but i got a Uni-Course in about an hour. (Its about the Age of the "Small Kings" during the late Medieval Ages). If you want to stay in contact just use the Email Adress above.
Cheerio, Friend!

Studying history is Gods work user. Just do us and yourself a favor and (also) read history books that were written before 1968.

Degeneracy did destroy Rome just as it will the current West.

Mate, my Uni literally has books from the Age of the Kaiser about History. Im set.

Friend, I'll save your email definitely. And likewise, it's been nice talking.

Again, you can proceed with your Disneyfication of history all you want but that won't make it fact.

What "degeneracy" particularly? Religious orgies existed throughout the Republic too and the Romans never defined homosexuality if that will be your next answer. They used dominant/passive roles.
