Democracy is the best form of gubbermint

Prove me wrong, stormfags.

>california
>9 electoral votes
Post an actual map and then i'll debate you.

democracy is in itself not a form of government
it's just an aspect of it

so you're a fucking idiot and you need to read up on the terms you use

Democracy is mob rules. You can vote parts of your nation into extinction for your own good or vote into enslaving part of the population if you want to.

Republic is what protects against that.

2 wolves and 1 sheep deciding what's for dinner

It's obviously an old political cartoon, retard.

>all democracies are unconstitutional absolute direct democracies

fucking christ

Freedom and democracy are incompatible

The poor retards will continuously vote themselves more gibs

Does a constitution matter?

That was OPs premise - You can readinto it if you like, but based on the question we are talking about pure democracy.

Pure democracy is not ideal.

The larger a country, the more differences and thus oppression of the other, but the stronger it is as a nation (in terms of military power, not unity).

As always this shit is a trade off.

Based on the OP, he was trying to imply califags have no power with their popular vote, when in fact, they have too much.

a constitution can prevent mob rule

>florida isn't the wang

0/10

it's a historical map, fellow burger, from 1896

>cali only had 9 votes in 1896
>now it has 55

jesus fucking christ

How so? Do constitutions prevent laws being passed that violate those constitutions in places like the US?

No, the cartoon is discussing New England having too much power. Based on the population densities, it's probably from the very late 19th century.

Democracy is flawed solely because it lets complete retards and degenerates vote. You just need to turn 18 and you finally have the power to influence your country's future. Voting rights isn't tied to your merits or decency as a human being.

Only people indigenous to the country, have an education, have a family and have jobs should be allowed to vote. Immigrants, drop-outs, singlefags, and neets shouldn't get voting rights.

for the most part, yes

what do you think the senate and supreme court are for?

Free men will always prevail over you soft city people. You keep on telling yourself you are golden while you people support having fiat currency, while people moving west were looking to escape the large state back east which blunted free market trading. You call it a fly over country, I call it a free man's place of home. And free men who trade will be richer and more golden than socialist city types.

What does the cartoon even mean

They've done great for a while, until Obama & Bush came along and went to war, spied on its citizens & did all manner of unconstitutional shit.

It's also telling that constitutionalists like Ron Paul were seen as looney.

That piece of paper has failed long term.

Democracy is basically mob rule and always descends into despotism. Effectively most people are idiots and a republic better ensures for the well being of its people.

most unconstitutional acts are because the original constitution had some strange wording at times
it also didn't account for computer/information technology, which is a pretty difficult topic to discuss in law when you're talking about privacy etc

well written, clear constitutions work best. vague constitutions are too open to interpretation

Is slavery right because 99% say they want to enslave 1%?

If you do it too "well written" (read: specific) it will just go out of date faster because rather than it being broad reaching people will just pick apart the specific wordings that don't include new areas of life 50/100 years from now.

I think long term anything that resembles representative Democracy will fail, with/without a constitution.

>non-americans discussing constitutions

pathetic, you all have baby constitutions

Anytime the populus has to vote, it's in favour of the politicians. They're the ones who decide the votes. This divides the people, and gives the media more traction in influencing everyone.

And they used it because they think nobody cares about california's vote, when in reality, they have too much power.

Shit, Texas and Florida have fewer votes too. What are they trying to say by that?

wow, NJ is the asshole

I hated the whole "we republic we won" shit meme that gave Trump the presidency, but they have a point.

People have a right to form tribes / unions / associations at any level of their choosing. Our Founding Fathers (tm) decided that the possibility of hysteria of the masses could be a thing, and that certain regions could assemble themselves to be all-powerful over all other regions in a country. The balance of an electoral college that was a combination of population and region was seen as a compromise that could work. And so far it has worked.

The UNITED STATES is a collective of 50 united regions that choose to be together based on each of them having a vote as peers, but not necessarily equal. But they all have a vote. It's not the UN where every country has the same power, but it's not democracy where every person has the same power. It's a compromise.

Trump, too, shall pass.
