Education doesn't reflect iq. I'm doing my medical doctorate right now and I'm only a little above average.

Becoming prominent in these fields requires more than education. Many of these people graduated college before 16. You have to also be creative and innovative enough to contribute widely to the discipline and make significant breakthrough in understand of your selected sub field.

Well there are multiple reasons I think.

One is that they usually have high specific knowledge in their area of expertise which is not usually not economics and overestimate their own ability and man's ability in general to have the knowledge necessary to efficiently centrally plan the economy.

There is also more generally that intellectuals would not have much financial security for their obscure intellectual pursuits on the free market so intellectuals favor a government which subsidizes them and they trade their support for this security.

Finally, I think its also the case that intellectuals, especially in disciplines outside economics, find socialism to be a nice idea just based on surface thinking because its nice to imagine things as cooperative.

Yet you still have no tangible evidence that high iq people are attracted to leftism.

Highly intelligent people are more likely to have the ability to fool themselves into intellectualizing certain disbehavior rather than addressing it in kind. It's why our biased leftist academia attracts so many of them; it seems far more intelligent to them to believe that all these demographic problems are due to something more complex than the alternative which is provided to them (that certain demographics are dumb, period).

There is really no data for Communists being smarter than anybody, but there is data which proves that the elite of Nazi Germany were among some of the most intelligent men in the world. Ashkenazi Jews are known to have some of the highest IQs in the world, and many of them were Communist (as Jews are obsessed with the idea of "humanism"). Most intelligent people nowadays tend to sit around the middle, though. It just so happens that nowadays, the middle tends to be leftist.

Because the strongest and arguably only reliable correlative to IQ is advancement in the western academic gambit / system. These places have been and still are cradles for theoretical postulation rather than anything grounded in the reality of everyday people.
