Interviewer: Okay, can you expand on that a little bit more, why you think the 60s were really stupid?
FZ: Well it was a type of merchandising. Americans have this hideous weakness, they have this desire to be these OK fun guys and gals, and they haven't come to terms with the reality of the situation. We are NOT created equal. Some people can do carpentry, some can do Mathematics, some are brain surgeons and some people are winos and that's the way it is. And we're not all the same. And this concept of one world and everything blended and smoothed out to this mediocre norm that everyone downgrades themselves to be is stupid. And the 60's was merchandised to the public at large. My pet theory about the 60s is, there's a sinister plot behind it... [..] it's just the lessons learned in the 60s about merchandising stupidity on a large scale to the American public has been used over and over again since that time.
"Let's not be too rough on our own ignorance; it's what makes America great! "
>FZ: The '60s was really stupid. >The '60s was >was
He's a fucking idiot, for one thing.
Mason Ross
>He is >IS
Okay kid. Zappa was based. Full-stop.
Leo Carter
the only people who nitpick about grammar or little mishaps like that are faggot English majors on Reddit. Go fuck yourself
Jaxson Turner
Literal genius who saw through the bullshit.
Brody Martin
>"My pet theory about the 60s is, there's a sinister plot behind it..." yeah it's called Marxism and we're still today dealing with the bs that started then
Colton Green
Is anyone really going to argue that Zappa wasn't a genius? I have never heard anyone even try to refute that point before. Even lefties who worship the 60s as some sort of Garden of Eden analogue.
Luke Rodriguez
>little mishaps
Not knowing how to speak is a bit more than a 'little mishap,' you cuck.
Thomas Ward
He's just a huge self-indulgent degenerate who spawned a whole clan of leftards with retarded names. Even a broken clock can be right twice a day.
His music can be interesting but if it was erased from history, no great loss.
Aaron Richardson
Did Frank capitalize "mathematics" in his speech? Like, did he say "capital-M Mathematics"?
Kayden Phillips
Cuck is not the appropriate term here you dumb fuck, since you are the cuck here, ignoring the main point to nitpick like a fucking limp wristed faggot.
You have to go back.
Jace Gomez
Actually, he was. He was pretty libertarian too
Mason Gray
>His music can be interesting but if it was erased from history, no great loss.
Oversimplification of the century. Zappa was hugely influential from a musical perspective. You wipe out Zappa, you must then wipe out every artist influenced by Zappa. This removes a huge amount of material from the collective musical catalogue.
Try to at least consider the implications of what you are saying before you say it.
Xavier Anderson
Frank Zappa is a musician. If you listen to what he says about anything besides music, you are experiencing the phenomenon known as cognitive apotheosis. Cognitive apotheosis is a form of hero worship, in which people place unwarranted importance on the opinions of people because they are famous, whether or not the opinion relates to why the person is famous.
Welcome to the 2010's - the Cognitive Apotheosis Decade!
Joshua Watson
No. I typed this out quickly from the MOFO project. Thought it was as relevant as ever to today
John Perez
Bob Dylan is best 60's goy
Gavin Reyes
Except he's the only one to talk shit about the 60s and give excellent points why it sucked. It is obviously very notable. Stop nitpicking like a faggot
Colton Diaz
>he talks like the people on tv
autists usually dont develop their own way of speaking
Nathan Powell
IMHO he is pretty good. Look up his testimony to congress. A little bit of a wackjob though in the same vein as Steve Jobs.
John James
I have literally only heard of Zappa for his quotes and think they're great
>Every socialistic type of government… produces bad art, produces social inertia, produces really unhappy people, and it's more repressive than any other kind of government.
> I like to watch the news, because I don't like people very much and when you watch the news... if you ever had an idea that people were really terrible, you could watch the news and know that you're right.
>The more boring a child is, the more the parents, when showing off the child, receive adulation for being good parents — because they have a tame child-creature in their house.
>Oversimplification of the century. Zappa was hugely influential from a musical perspective >You wipe out Zappa, you must then wipe out every artist influenced by Zappa. I like some rock and roll influenced music but wiping out the entire movement would've been the best choice for our society.
Jose Myers
Go the fuck back
A cultural icon speaking about cultural issues is completely appropriate. Should people be looking to some fucking (((author))) or (((journalist))) to sum up the fucking cultural zeitgeist of the 60's? You're a pedantic fucking idiot. Go back.
Frank was an incredible musician and composer. Largely influential in the prog rock/fusion genre's. He is also the most prolific artist of all time, which means that although he may have been "self indulgent" as user above says, he certainly worked extremely hard. Did not drown himself in drugs and alcohol like other musicians of his time. Challenged the government in a non-hippy manner. I will agree his kids names are retarded though. All in all BASED
Robert Richardson
have you ever met someone so smug about being so wrong?
the term "was" is grammatically correct in this situation. "60s" as a term refers to the decade and the related socio-political culture of that time era. It is not referring to a number of years. Rather, it is referring to the collection of years and specifically its societal change.
ergo you're the fucking idiot and frank zappa, PhD, was right.
Dylan Butler
OP fucked up. That's not how he worded it. Look it up. I'm not doing it for you. You don't deserve it.
Ayden Cook
>Bob Dylan >goy
kek, you baitin', ma nigga? His name is Robert fucking Zimmerman
Jaxson Hughes
>he got it from the toilet seat
Nathaniel Sanchez
Zappa was definitely redpilled, his father designed chemical weapons at the edgewood arsenal
zappa hated hippies and was pretty right wing but I don't know if we can look up to someone so closely associated with Ollie North
Cooper Sullivan
What did Bob Dylan say that was based?
Jeremiah Nguyen
so based he was parodying the 60's DURING THE 60's
Literally nothing. And he played at an Obama event in like 2012. Also he's a fucking Jew. Fuck (((Zimmerman)))
Caleb Phillips
Your post is an attack on the person rather than an argument, which in itself is a logical fallacy. Accepting what he said without any scrutiny would be cognitive apotheosis, there's nothing wrong with listening to what he said and judging his argument by its own merits.
Basically, you completely missed the point.
Josiah Johnson
I saw him at the NEC Birmingham in 1988 and the official tour t-shirts were £30, programs for £15.
He was based and rich
Leo Reyes
Daily reminder
Beefheart>>>Zappa
Parker Powell
Albert Hammond Jr. is based though
Kayden Davis
Only fags believe this.
Brayden Campbell
wasn't beefheart a cuck?
Kevin Smith
Always loved Zappa. Not a lot of people care for his music compared to other artists of the era because it was actually great compositions. I do like Hendrix and The Dead and all that hippy dippy shit but I'm not retarded. I love how all these Nu-Hippies think conservative people cant listen to that kidn fo music. Ann Coulter is a big Dead Head and I have seen her at a RatDog show once. Frank was an arse but that's why he was lovely. No one put more time into their craft than Frank. Not to mention the huge number of great musicians he mentored in the Mothers that went on to become quite successful by themselves. You Cant Do That On Stage Anymore!
Noah Miller
He willingly became a goy for us. He's the second coming of Christ, user. And he trolled his faggy hippie fans in the 60's by going electric and supporting Barry Goldwater.
Justin Bailey
Fuck yes he was.
Blake Myers
Retard. He opposed degenerate hippy culture. He made an entire album that parodied the Beatles. To give you an idea listen to the song 'Flakes'. The guy was allegedly never even a fan of weed. He was just a whacky mother fucker with an odd sense of humor and loads of talent but back then the right wing painted him like an insane druggie hippy icon much like the left today paints people who don't suck black cock as racists. 'Trouble every day' is a great example of race relations and the conflicts of the civil rights era. Learn your history before you make another shitty comment you stupid fucking faggot
Adrian Anderson
He was a deep thinker
Something this world needs a lot more of so we can all get along
Jason Allen
He was a smug faggot and got cancer because he himself was cancerous.
Couple of good albums however, I enjoy joes garage.
Luis Rogers
same was with Jim Morrison whose dad started Vietnam war
I bet Morrison was just as right.wing
John Price
Him and Beefheart were beyond based "Case of the punks, right from the start"
Brody Jackson
You obviously never listened to Zappa. He didn't just make music and then spout off all his beliefs which is what your post implies. He inserted his beliefs into his music with top tier satire. Hell, the first song I ever heard was 'I'm The Slime' and I was instantly drawn in by the lyricism. Go listen for yourself, faggot. Based pole telling it like it is
Josiah Evans
>lived alpha lifestyle with beautiful women throwing themselves at him even before he was famous >changes his name to distance himself from being an ethnic jew >relentlessly trolls hippies >become serious about bible studies and then converted to Christianity >his recordings are real takes of him and his band playing, no post-production effects or even overdubbed vocals >criticized Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts for being too overproduced and commercial. Decides to release John Wesley Harding with 0 marketing as a response >Intentionally plays terrible live performances when invited to Presidential events, the Grammys, etc >Made fun of and cucked hippies (seriously the dude cucked 100's of hippies and they were so pathetic they actually came to be ok with it.) >literally gives no fucks >is a better songwriter than Zappa
Ryder Flores
>zappa in the light, with a grave facial expression >beefheart in the dark, with a joyous facial expression
