What are your thoughts on this book?.

why do you care what retarded teenagers think

Most accurate dystopia. Our world is a mix of that, along with Atlas Shrugged and especially Camp of the Saints.

They forced me to read it in School some years ago, I didn't even finish it

Should I read it again?

Was ok. 1984 was better.

>le big brother commie dictatorship XD

Brave New World is 10x better than Orwell's big book of socialist scare stories.

It's surprisingly poorly written. Overall shitty writing, 80s movie tier projection of the future and bad story. 1984 by comparison is very well written with a good story.

Since it seems that the inescapable comparison is to the later 1984, it's worth noting that as actual prognostication BNW has happened and the world of 1984 evaporated with Stalin's death.*

Revisited was interesting.

As a teenager I preferred 1984 but having just reread both last year I think that Brave New World comes out on top. Huxley just has this humor in his tone of voice that makes for a much better read than 1984. The latter feels so edgy and a little bit too serious in its prose.

That being said, I loved how only the protagonists ever saw anything wrong with their society. Everyone else was perfectly content with how things were; exactly like how people are in the present. Can't believe someone predicted that so perfectly in the 30's.

BNV is a lot more realistic desu. And it's probably where we're going.

Both 1984 and BNV are dehumanized societies. But terror and madness isn't a very effective way of controlling people.

Hedonism could make people very predictable and controllable though. And arguably happy, in some ways (even though pleasure and happiness can be pretty different). In BNV human interactions are mostly without any depth (be that emotional or spiritual). Everything is very superficial. Everyone is conditioned from birth to give in to their lust and be interchangeable. People don't have any tolerance for someone who doesn't conform. This kind of society coupled with mass surveillance could be stable.
