Round 3, I've spent almost 6 hours talking in these threads.
Good night Wolf, have a good sleep. Thanks for starting all these threads, and chat to ya next week!
I'm driving my siblings somewhere so I'll join you all in 20 mins or so.
God Bless you all!

How would one go about finding a good traditional Catholic church to attend mass? I've come to terms that I've never lost faith in God, it was the Catholic church that I've lost faith in.

Thanks for the new thread, really didn't want to wait until next Sunday for a new one.
There's so many different denominations in Christianity and it confuses me. Surely God can't mean a million different things when he says one thing. Have you got any material I can read that highlights the key difference between the different types of Christianity?

How do protestant denominations come to an understanding of the truth when they disagree about their intepretation of the Bible?
Andrew Ramirez
r/atheism pls go We don't like Evangelicals either so stop acting like we're them.
The most common method is looking for a place with a Latin Mass but I'm sure there's a way to google traditionalist subdivisions in your area.
Noah Rivera
I like how I can tell which guy was the "I'll rek all the proddies" guy in the last thread and which guy was the Protestant just by watching them post. Talk about predestination - These two will wind up clashing with each other no matter what.

"This food we call the Eucharist, of which no one is allowed to partake except one who believes that the things we teach are true, and has received the washing for forgiveness of sins and for rebirth, and who lives as Christ handed down to us. For we do not receive these things as common bread or common drink; but as Jesus Christ our Savior being incarnate by God's Word took flesh and blood for our salvation, so also we have been taught that the food consecrated by the Word of prayer which comes from him, from which our flesh and blood are nourished by transformation, is the flesh and blood of that incarnate Jesus."
"First Apology", Ch. 66, inter A.D. 148-155.

Cyril would strongly rebuke you for using that term to glorify Mary The essentials are the trinity and the 5 solas If it's non-Trinitarian it's not Protestant, if it doesn't have the 5 solas it's not Protestant.

Yeah, but Christ was a physical entity. So saying that God is wholly separate from the physical world is nonsense.

and Free Will, 20 (426-427):
This question, then, seems to me to be by no means capable of solution, unless we understand that even those good works of ours, which are recompensed with eternal life, belong to the grace of God, because of what is said by the Lord Jesus: "Without me ye can do nothing." Jn. 15:5... We are framed, therefore, that is, formed and created, "in the good works which" we have not ourselves prepared, but "God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." It follows, then, dearly beloved, beyond all doubt, that as your good life is nothing else than God's grace, so also the eternal life which is the recompense of a good life is the grace of God; moreover it is given gratuitously, even as that is given gratuitously to which it is given. But that to which it is given is solely and simply grace; this therefore is also that which is given to it, because it is its reward;-grace is for grace, as if remuneration for righteousness; in order that it may be true, because it is true, that God "shall reward every man according to his works."(Mt. 16:27). Come again? So now you are saying that Christ commanded us to worship wheat? That would indeed be idolatry, my friend; therefore, you are in fact proving the case for the Real Presence.
>Of thanks
And? Melchizedek was a sacerdotal priest who also offered wheat and wine too.
>What miracle?
The multiplication of loaves:
>11 Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had GIVEN THANKS, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted.

Cyril supports veneration of saints and says "Christ said indicating (the bread and wine): 'This is My Body,' and "This is My Blood," in order that you might not judge what you see to be a mere figure. The offerings, by the hidden power of God Almighty, are changed into Christ's Body and Blood, and by receiving these we come to share in the life-giving and sanctifying efficacy of Christ."

I believe the doctrinal position is that God created all and is separate from His creation in substance but yet constantly sustains and maintains all of creation and so is closely connected to it all. It is proper to say that because of this relationship between God and creation that we can see reflection of God's will through reality itself.
I'm a bit tired so that's probably worded poorly but I hope you get me.

I consider myself fairly moderate on the whole Pope Francis debate so I'll have a go at this.
I believe that Pope Francis is neither good nor bad, probably leaning bad but not because of himself. I believe that what he is doing is very Christian and so far (as long as you read what he actual says and how he stands) hes stayed true to the Catholic faith. However many people are quite conservative and would prefer more vocal opposition against things like Islam. And others against Francis are stupid and don't bother to read what he says, or are LARPing and don't understand that it is true we should be more welcoming to Gays to the Church. That does not mean we accept homosexual behaviour or encourage or even tolerate it, it just means we shouldn't tell Gay people to fuck off just cause they're tempted for cock. But others just ignore that part of Christianity.
As to why I say he may be leaning bad. There are many groups and people disenfranchised so to say with the Church at the moment believing its falling to modernism. Due to the way that Francis portrays himself, they feel that its falling away from its roots. Whereas a more conservative pope would comfort them and bring more disenfranchised people in. Potentially even Sedevancasits or whatever they're called.

It doesn't matter how many times you claim we worship her. We don't. Your argument is literally based on a rejection to admit a provable fact.

Denominations for the most part really aren't as divided as some might lead you to believe. Its more of a personalization thing than a "I'm the only one that's right" type of thing, at least that's how I always saw it. Imo except for some outstanding examples (methodists think homosexuality isn't sodomy[it is]), the only divisions that really matter are between Catholics, Orthodoxes, Traditionalist Protestants, and Progressive Protestants. Most denominations will welcome you even if you outright proclaim that you do not consider yourself a member of that sect anyway.
Christopher Gray
Been going to mass for six weeks now and meeting with a catholic professor for lunch once a week. Was an atheist for ten years or so.
Catholicism is way different to what I expected it to be. The sacramental worldview makes a lot more sense to me than evangelical Protestantism ever did. I'm getting pretty close to pulling the trigger and joining an RCIA group.
