Why is it nearly impossible to parody the alt-right?
I believe it is difficult to parody the alt-right because it is already hidden behind multiple layers of irony. While the alt-right has serious beliefs and values, they also are hidden behind a parody of themselves.
While the alt-right believes in white nationalism and fighting against the anti-white agenda, they also know that being a "white nationalist" in itself is fucking ridiculous and it is associated with many hilarious caricatures and stereotypes.
For example, if a SJW tries to make fun of the alt-right for believing in "white genocide", it is ineffective because we already know it sounds fucking absurd. We believe that it is real, but we know it also sounds fucking absurd. We think that white nationalism is funny ourselves, and we probably softened ourselves up to the idea of it through jokes. We layer our true beliefs with multiple layers of irony, never taking it completely seriously. This is where the SJW differs from the alt-righter. SJWs do not understand that they sound like pussies, cucks and retards. They whole-heartedly believe that they are rational, intelligent, and interesting people who just want to "save the world" from injustice. They are shocked when they are mocked because the thought never crosses their minds that they might be absurd.
Another example is this video of a Sam Hyde parody (posted below). It is a pathetic attempt to make fun of Sam Hyde's persona. It falls on it's face because Sam Hyde is already making fun of himself while he's making fun of you. Sam Hyde's goal through comedy is not necessarily winning you over, but instead entertaining himself. He has shitty facial hair, a weird haircut, goofy clothes, obnoxious mannerisms, an obnoxious laugh, and he knows it. He's entertaining himself first, and entertaining his audience second. He is not actually hiding anything, so there is no uncomfortable truth that the parody can point out. He is wrapped in so many layers of irony that he has stripped away anything that could be made fun of. He's making fun of himself for making fun of himself while he makes fun of you.
You can't parody a logical response to liberal Jew subversion.
Carson Bennett
Its totally possible its just that you have to be smart or funny. You cant coast by on jon stewart platitudes and declare yourself a genius

Jon Stewart's downfall is lack of irony and self-awareness in his persona.
He wants you to believe that he is the intellectual superior to Fox News. If Jon Stewart showed that he recognized that he is doing nothing but making funny faces at the camera, and that he doesn't give a fuck, and fuck you for not liking his one-trick pony funny faces, he would be 500x more likable.
James White
They can't parody us because that would be like picking on a mentally retared person
Sebastian Johnson
>stopped reading >can't read
I said it SOUNDS absurd. We already know that, and we're already joking about it before you can even attack us on it. We're 3 steps ahead of any criticism of the subject.
Jackson Price
Sam wouldn't be shit without his layered irony. He only has a few genuinely funny videos that don't use irony as a crutch. He's also a lefty, but under age Sup Forums users will plug up their ears and start screaming muh reddit post muh reddit post over on over. The saddest part of it all is that Sam is making fun of you Sup Forums autists and your social skills are so lacking that you think he is le based alt-right man.
Liam Foster
>example, if a SJW tries to make fun of the alt-right for believing in "white genocide", it is ineffective because we already know it sounds fucking absurd. We believe that it is real, but we know it also sounds fucking absurd.
You won't allow yourself to accept that things like genocide are the logical conclusion of your line of thinking. You hide yourself behind layers of euphemism that mask the absolute unspeakable horror of crimes perpetrated by those who founded the ideology you represent because you cannot allow yourself to accept that you are an evil or immoral person. Authoritarian, fascistic tendencies are the sign of a weak mind incapable of accepting differences and working through issues via democratic means.

jon stewart is liked by the majority of people. I'm sure he was never really concerned with appealing to NEET weebs posting in a right wing echo chamber online
a better example would be Amy Schumer or Lena Dunham
Brandon Wright
To parody the alt-right, you need to be the opposite, deadly serious.
you can't parody the alt right because you have no beliefs. you're all just trying to be edgy because you're too pathetic and soulless to have anyone or anything to actually care about.
Nathan Young
parody/satire is the only way to subtly redpill. cant just go on tv going full 14/88
Nathaniel Ramirez
If Sam were on that level of irony, he would be a comedy god.
I don't think he's a left. He's stated he believes in conservative values for society, and that post-modern nihilism (in so many words) has destroyed society. He's just not a neo-con faggot.
The irony is the comedy. He's parodying things that are transparently fake and weak in identity. He goes to TedTalk and speaks in metaphorical gibberish that almost resemble a real TedTalk if you just tweaked a few things. Same with Rutgers.
Matthew Davis
> Trying to parody something made up. Practice something similarly imagunary, like a yeti.
Justin Williams
Jon Stewart is entertainment for the easily entertained masses.
He is not intellectually stimulating on any level.
Carter Anderson
The alt-right has a pretty clear platform.
>return to conservative values >return to normal gender roles >reject neo-cuckservatives >white nationalism/civil nationalism (for alt-lite) >reject post-modern nihlistic morality
Jace Roberts
The Left has fancy words that differentiate the concept of parody, satire, and irony. The Alt-right has used these tools for subversion, but ultimately, once exposed will become ineffective. Meanwhile, such tools will be used against the Alt-Right. Subversion leads to polarization, but I believe the chaos is good. You may feel the upswing of the pendulum, but you also most contemplate gravity's momentum.
Jonathan Sullivan

how could anyone be against these things (sans white nationalism)

Leftists will never catch up to our worldview to be able to mock us.
By the time they've created an idea of what we are to mock, we've already built another layer of irony.
For example, they try to mock us by making memes showing us as Nazis in Nazi Germany. That doesn't work, because that's already a joke to us. Nazis were a joke in the first place. You can't parody something that was never even serious in the first place.
If they try to mock our concern with shifting demographics and our vision to rebuild a white Roman Empire, it won't fucking matter. That was a joke in the first place, even though we seriously want that.
If SJWs were to use this method on us, they would mask and parody themselves as angry feminazi's. When we try to make fun of them for being irrational brainwashed feminist retards, it wouldn't work, because that was already their joke in the first place.
Instead, when we make fun of them for being ugly sweaty vegan feminists with arm-pit hair, they just reply by going "NO SHUT UP I LOVE MY BODY SO WHAT???"
Aaron Foster
>white nationalism It isn't even white nationalism but don't invade with people you then politicize THEN push things like affirmative action and erase European culture.

But sam is le based alt-right man, right??? Be sure to reply to me with the hilarious reddit post sam wrote the proves he's based right wing man. (No way in hell could he be in character when he wrote that n-no way)
Logan Watson

Samuel Mitchell
This is exactly what I'm talking about.
In his "date me politics and fashion" video, he is making fun of the type of person you might imagine in your head when you are reading an article from "The Right Stuff".
The writer of "The Right Stuff" openly jokes about his own material, saying that it is bordering between LARPING and reality.
When SJW faggots find out about white nationalism, they're going to say "SWEATY BASEMENT BIGOTS WRITING ARTICLES", and we are just going to shrug our shoulders and say "Yeah that's the fucking joke you idiot", while still moving ahead with our white nationalist platform.
>tfw too smart to get parodied
Wyatt Turner
lol you're clueless. Sam was a trump nut and is definitely a white nationalist who rips on kikes all the time which is why they pulled his show.
Pay attention.
Hudson Hill
My personal theory: people come off as defensive, which is feminine and weak, and comedy is offensive. It is a form of attack (at a weakness, hypocrisy, flaw, etc).
Retaliation against alt-right just seems like butthurt wrapped up in a tissue of a "joke" and people can instinctively detect this.
Connor Bailey
>tfw no qt nazi imouto
Elijah Cooper
That's because leftist's entire ideology is post-modern nihilism. Truth is subjective, therefor there are no standards. Anything is art. Anything is acceptable.
There are no real rules or laws, only ideas that man created. Homosexuality? Fine. Beastiality? Fine.
With this ideology, nothing is really off limits to them. They will never stop.
Thomas Williams
Sam is too many layers of irony deep to know where he stands on anything. I get the impression he doesn't actually care about anything and his entire life is just moving from character to character like some kind of hideous Tom Cruise.
Leo Moore
Got kicked from shitty altright facebook kek pages for parodying the alt right so there's still plenty of alt right snowflakes

Mason Lee

Tyler Moore

Jeremiah Perry

Thomas Hernandez
>difference between attacking somebody pretending to be joking, and joking as a form of attack
That is true. My theory is that it is impossible to do both to the alt-right because we've already made the joke. This actually links back to Sup Forums in general. Sup Forums used this exact same logic.
Nobody ever made fun of Sup Forums in their glory days, because Sup Forums didn't even take itself seriously enough to be made fun of. Yet Sup Forums still made people look like fucking idiots
>they have over 9,000 penises, and they're coming for you - Oprah >haha stupid fucking over-dramatic naive bitch. You'll act dramatic over anything, fuck you
Sup Forums could parody things, but it could never be parodied.
Nicholas Thomas
I would agree on almost every point. For decades the Left's subversive cultural movement has been based on satire and irony. Now the Right has gained that weapon for itself and we are using it far more effectively than our counterparts.
Something you will notice is that barring moderation and strict enforcement of leftist ideas, every space on the internet gradually shifts to the Right now. It takes active censorship in order to stop a site from shifting to the Right. But active censorship is clumsy and obvious, and it creates discontent.
As the Left grows more desperate and hamfisted in its moderation of its controlled spaces, the so-called Alt-Right expands as a nebulous anti-organization of trolls, misfits and disgruntled ideologues. The Alt-Right, even if you do not agree with its supposed principles, becomes a system of asymmetrical warfare against perceived oppressors.
Anyone with an interest in doing so can take up the panoply of the Alt-Right and troll the living shit out of lefties with impunity so long as they remain anonymous--which is easy--and in doing so force the Left to crack down harder, which creates more discontent and thus more potential fighters.
In essence we're looking at the failure of American Anti-Terrorist policy applied to the internet. Every action to defeat the Alt-Right expands it, and because the only place to retreat to for these people are ideological hotboxes like Sup Forums, TRS, Stormfront, etc, such new fighters naturally radicalize over time.
This machine is now unstoppable, the Left has no analogue for this because they did their job too well. The radicalization of these people is not reversable through any mechanism the Left possesses.
This also could not have happened at a worse time. The age of the internet was supposed to be the Age of the Left, but they've fucked it up. Now the internet is their enemy where it was supposed to be a superweapon in their employ.
Isaiah Wright
There are morons who legitimately believe Sam isn't right wing. Saw some people who were claiming his "cop killer" skit was railing the criminal justice system and that it wasn't in any way a commentary on white guilt.
Brandon Sanders
too much irony and you go full.hipster. You must have something to unironically support.
Brayden Bell
> not understanding that sam makes fun of these ideas in a way that only forces you to think about them and thus spreading the message
if you watch his KSTV project and his Rutgers presentation it becomes extremely clear that he's pro-white and that he detests postmodernist nonsense.
in his KSTV he talks about dating a feminist for 6 years in a few episodes and you can tell he genuinely thinks of them as regretful and dark days.
Brody King
Right, they nailed all of the shit that is already a joke.
>ugly >facial hair >blowing his nose >drinking out of a fucking gallon water container ever 10 seconds >talking about alpha/beat >lifting
All of that shit is a joke to him already. They're making fun of the joke, and we're saying "THAT'S the joke you fucking idiots!!"
It's the exact same method of logic when people attack Donald Trump's hair. They said "It's a comb over!" or "He's an orange cheeto!" He knows both of these things. That's the joke. He's stated he does it on purpose. Making fun of the joke only makes the joker look stupid
Julian Morales
>soulless Wow really makes me think.
Asher Morris
because it's an impotent ideology and all of the true-blue (no pun intended) power-hungry sociopaths have moved on to the softer, greener pastures of modern liberalism
Kayden Fisher
It's not difficult at all. You get into character by acting literally autistic and white nationalist. Then you call everything which could remotely compromise the act as degenerate or something like that. You go full autistic and you're 2/3 of the way there.
Leo Lopez
the memes have gone too far guys.
Robert Johnson
That's the beauty of the alt-right. It does have something to support, but it doesn't take itself seriously. It's actually an incredible phenomenon.
Alt-right is a tent of different ideologies, some of which oppose each other. It does not matter though because all of it is linked with a common enemy (liberals), the right to free speech, and layers of irony (for some of the alt-right figures).
Landon Stewart
I've thought about this pattern ever since I joined the onine antifeminist wave 6-7 years ago...
I always looked at is as the information age will crush any ideology that doesn't hold up when the data on outcomes and results of the ideology are readily available via a google search.
Nicholas Edwards
This is literally the meme that made me think of this in the first place.
Irony is one of Sup Forums's greatest weapons. It's something that other sub-cultures DO NOT HAVE.
Adam Mitchell
But that doesn't make any sense either you retard, because parodying Nihilists is fucking easy, it's what smuggie memes are all about. People who hold no coherent beliefs and are just contrarian are easy to make fun of.
The problem here is that what the Alt-Right believes has already been lambasted so utterly that it sounds like parody material to begin with, so making fun of it in conventional terms only serves to bring attention to it.
White nationalism is a belief. Caring about white people is caring about someone. Caring about western civilization is caring about something. If anything the so-called Alt-Right believes in things far more intensely than any other major political movement at this time, it's just that the things they believe in have become sort of sacred anti-cows. The idea of unironically advocating white nationalism is unthinkable, and you cannot parody something that is unthinkable, you can only describe it clumsily and hope that that's funny.
And it is, but not in the way intended. The Left parodies Republican as hating niggers and spics. Well Alt-Righters actually DO hate niggers and spics, so if you just call them racist you aren't actually parodying anything.
Gavin Thompson
>We layer our true beliefs with multiple layers of irony, never taking it completely seriously.

10/10 analysis, I think these next 4 years are going to cause a massive shift. Sup Forums is actually becoming mainstream, can you imagine hundreds of thousands of normies coming here getting inundated with race realism infographs
2017 is shaping up to be a good one
Oliver Young
I think that the alt-right (and Sup Forums in general) has the perspective that NOTHING completely matters.
For example, if Hillary had won, all we would be doing is meming and trolling right now. None of us would be crying, protesting, or any of that retarded faggot shit (like the left is doing). Because we have this perspective that life is just a game, and ultimately laughter and maybe chaos are the most important things.
Alt-right values fall under this idea.
For example, Richard Spencer's mission staetment is that he wants to send all non-whites back to their home countries, create a white ethno state, and rebuild the Roman Empire. THE ROMAN EMPIRE.
Okay, I'm fucking laughing out loud just typing that out right now. That's fucking absurd, but I am 100% behind it. Let's do it, even if it is absolutely absurd.
Even if I spent my life striving to "rebuild the roman empire" and failed, it wouldn't matter. Because it's fucking hilarious. It's offensive, absurd, over-the-top, and productive all at the same time.
Jackson Williams

Most succinct and correct post in the thread. The alt-right can't be parodied because it doesn't take itself seriously enough. Same with Sam Hyde. You have to be autistic to think he isn't right wing, he's just willing to make fun of himself, too.
Ryder Stewart

Jonathan Cook
Because in our post-modernist society w everything sacred has been degraded and broken down by critical theory nobody is allowed to show real, genuine emotion. Caring too hard about something is incredibly unfashionable. I would imagine that many of us are deeply disturbed at these issues but if you were to actually speak like that you'd just get laughed at. Irony is both a cover and a coping mechanism to keep from going insane.
Daniel Bailey

I think thats what i liked when i saw the show. He was so obtrusive in his scetches the bastard looked in character but out of place.
It was like antianticomedy.
Austin Ward
The problem with Bernie is that his "revolution" wasn't absurd or funny, it was just weak and gay.
Bernie and all of his supporters were fake as fuck. It was just a big virtue-signal fest. They want to lock arms and sing "imagine" by John Lennon together and then pay 60% in income taxes.
If you told them this, they wouldn't laugh and say "yeah that's the joke, faggot". They would say "NO U SHUT UP RACIST". They suck, they're low IQ, they're fake and gay. They're hiding something, that's why they can be parodied SO EASILY.
Richard Spencer's Roman empire means working hard to achieve human greatness.
Charles Long
Anti-comedy is his thing. He just wants a reaction. If he'd been born 20 years earlier and couldn't make it as a radio shock jock he'd just be the guy that's always starting bar fights.
Christopher Cook
This is 100% true. Another problem is that nobody actually cares about anything, so when they try to rise up and pretend to care about something, it just sounds like weak virtue signaling.
That's why Trump was appealing. Because he said "Hey, fuck all this shit. This shit just sucks. Let's be great again". People want to be great, they don't want to live in a post-modern nihilistic hellscape.
They want objective standards of greatness. They want to achieve amazing things, like building cathedrals, landing on the moon ect. ect.
Carter Hernandez

More like things that do have worth are scorned and replaced with things that matter for nothing. It's simply pointing out that the emperor has no clothes. Nobody is going to die for the free market. Nobody will die for transgender children. Standing simply for "tolerance" is actually the opposite of having any values. You would by definition bend to anybody. In a world that stands for absolutely nothing, out of chaos something new can take shape. You would die and sacrifice for the glory of Rome. over analysis and virtuesignaling is why the left is so splintered. If we make a mountain over every ant-hole, we will only further divide ourselves like with this """alt-right""" bullshit.
