>the God Emperor will fix this

Can we merge this thread with comfy buildings?

...

...

I could maybe understand having like...a modern but tasteful piece on it, or something that looks like it could match the style. But that...thing, looks like it was lazily bolted onto the side of the building.

...

This is cityplanning.

>arch

modernists hate him

Is there any such thing as 'good' modern architecture Sup Forums?

...

This is kinda neat

Cant wait until these atrocities are getting torn down in favour of recreations / more palatable design

Modernisim is dead for a reason , and they hate arches because they don't look good

It depends. We're really in the "SEEING WHAT STICKS" phase, and this is really the only time in history that land and capital is widespread enough to try truly awful designs that can stand.

I'd argue that good modern architecture is that which utilizes its surroundings well, but at that point the design isn't so much the beauty of the building, but rather the surroundings.

>neo-gothic with a hint of Rome

Why is the imperium so based?

>military planning

looks like they are trying to build the tower of babel

...

i like it, looks comfy

>Still clinging to obsolete buildings instead of freeing space for housing
Literal autism

(((art)) in one of the most prestigious universities in the workd

It was supposed to mimic the mesa of the surrounding landscape I believe

...

Right! Those old castles could be converted into refugee camps!

I just hate the outside of the houses with modern architecture, I don't mind the inside (sometimes) and cities (usually skyscrapers as seen in pic related). Not that that I hate the architecture been posted here.

>beauty can become obsolete

There is no such thing as a half Jew.

Comfy af

Interior's are really the strength of modern design.

Forgot pic

...

Highly underrated and true

However I think the most recent designs that have begun to bring back more traditional elements in or imanration and scale to design are moving in the right direction

It looks like there's a tumour coming out of each of the buildings.

how would a classical airport look like?

archdaily.com/7952/klein-bottle-house-mcbride-charles-ryan

this looks pretty comfy desu

Well, it's really become apparent to a lot of designers and real estate owners that modernist designs that are jarring don't particularly move well, or age well.

Likewise, cities that have a lot of local pride will step in to simply prevent jarring buildings from being built, or simply pass laws limiting how buildings can be built. Height limits are rather popular or, like in Jerusalem, material limits are in place.

Likewise, there needs to be effective use of color to actually make a place look livable. Nature also greatly helps.

kek'd :3

Castles were built from money that has been acquired unrightfully to begin with. So that's just fine

>There is no such thing as a half Jew.
i just tried to integrate and name myself aacording to Nuremberg laws. My father is of goyish decent

Then I'll tell you to deport all the Asian immigrants

It looks like what happens when the textures in a game bug out

It's interesting. I like that it's a public kind of resource building but if some company had a fucked up weirdo building like that i would judge them for it.

Then you're Jewish. There is no half Jew.

It must feel shitty not being able to play some football there without losing the ball all the time.

I dunno, price paid for aesthetics.

Attaching this old thing to this new thing was terrible.
But the old thing was delightful and so was the new thing.

Modern architecture is awesome and you're a faggot OP

>Jewish Business News

>American reading comprehension

That's fucking disgusting.

Thoughts on the marina bay sands?

Modernist architecture is passe anyway.
Even postmodernism is passe.

We're like beyond beyond modernism right now. Postmodernism already returned to quoted style.

So, this is quite late to criticise modernism after post-modernism already did it a lot better than a bunch of pseudonazis.

You're a kike to the point kikes accept you as a kike.

>BUT GERMANY NEVER SPECIFIED WHICH PARENT HAD TO BE JEWISH!

Stop trying to kike your way out of being a kike.

Fugg off.

give us something to criticize then! and better be the jews. or chinks

>Rome Total War cities

Something like, Templehof Airport?

Can we please just give modernism a new name at this point? Something can't be modern forever.

Shit architecture?

But not all shit architecture is modern.

>>BUT GERMANY NEVER SPECIFIED WHICH PARENT HAD TO BE JEWISH!
At least the Nazis didn't :^)

>Stop trying to kike your way out of being a kike.
I don't. But according to Nazi legislature I'm not fully Jewish :/\)

>I'm actually half a monster
>even though all the other monster's accept me as one of them

kike pls go.

But all modren architecture is shit.

Oh my god that video's real, I feel sick. I can't watch this.

That piece of trash in the 2nd half of your image... Wow so nice and modern. Looks like when a jew tries to make "art", ends up being an abstract piece of shit.

wheres the architrave?
wheres the greek/roman column?
wheres the pediment?
wheres the triglyph?
wheres the Frieze?
wheres the crepidoma?

Yes, Potato Italy, but if you were to call the Great Mosque of Djenné shit architecture, it wouldn't make sense because if modern architecture=shit architecture then architecture that is not modern =/= shit architecture.

The term needs to apply to this specific scenario of shit architecture.

Well modernism included many sub-currents represented by various architects:
Le Corbusier's style, Bauhaus, International style (kind of like the UN building), Mies van der Rohe's minimalism, Soviet constructivism, Art deco (like American art deco skyscrapers style), Philip Johnson, Oscar Niemeyer etc.

Some modernist architecture is actually nice, in fact, the best modernist architects did quality architecture. It's the followers which spawned monstrosities around the world.

Also, don't forget, very often it's the clients which dictate the style, so people with a lot of money and bad taste also decided how many houses/buildings were made.

Pic related: Lenin mausoleum, an example of horrible Soviet modernism.

...

That looks a lot better inside.

I think the play on the similarity with the Babel tower might be on purpose.

The other Germans won't accept me and shout curses on me, although I'm thouroughly Prussian and ALL of of my family has been for centuries
I still don't get why a lot of people are still opposing me. i didn't do any wrong except for excessive shitposting once in a while

i came back from palermo the other week and fuck me if that isnt one of most beautiful cities ive ever seen. all those old buildings are beautiful you can really sense the history. it feels like youre in another world. took a historical tour just me and a friend found all these hidden places there it was just a really good experience.

then i came back to london and i felt like shit. london has got t be the ugliest city on earth and i never even noticed before. all these ugly modern buildings just look like lego blocks and are ugly as sin.

wish we kept the old victorian london aesthetic that would have been cool

I love windows like this

fucking when?

Lisbon is even better.

i wonder what it'd look like if someone 9/11'd it

i will go one day

...

of course
extreme socialists run the schools
everything they produce blows
this is why I use free software
freebsd rocks with icewm and firefox with ublock
and csutom tab width
:)
problem architecture should solve:
reduce to 1$ a square foot big far apart lwo maint houses with good insulation CHEAPER aND BETTER!
mass produce!!
lower price and better product
capitalism!
always works!

that has worrisome implications

Thanks Mr. Wiseau

this type of architecture looks good in modern cities full of tall bulidings beacuse the buildings complment each other.

but when you have legoish short/squatty/formless buldings like this one amongst older buildings in historical cities then it just looks ugly and ruins the cityscape

That monstrosity is even worse in person. I've been there.

The wonderful world of Frank Gehry, who also created these feverish abominations Behold! An art museum...

yuck
gross
i quite like that one actually looks kind of art-deco
vom

There's lots of good modernist design. The problem is that usually only the best of certain styles and eras get preserved, and we haven't had enough time for modernism's mistakes and mediocrities to vanish from history.

if there was a terrorist group who went around blowing up these ugly things i would actually join. whoever gets blown up inside gets blown up inside

Wouldn't it just be a horrible thing if someone blew up the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle?

That looks like Australian ant hills...

I got the idea from a crystal cave in an N64 game

It is. They believe they will win over God.

...and in another beautiful evocation of Australiana, Frank Gehry's Hotel Marqués de Riscal looks like a post-nuclear Mad Max-inspired shanty town.

I don't know how I feel about Moscow

fucking horrible. i mean i get that it's the museum of Pop Culture so it's got to be a bit quirky and non-traditional but this formless, playdough-mush style is so cliche and lazy now anyway.

It's as if the building was about to be sucked into a black hole, and then froze

Shanghai 2.0 in the making

enough now!

This contemporary work of art gives its observer the impression of viewing poorly optimised megatextures - a striking commentary on the alienation of modern society, where the individual often feels he has drifted "outside the map."

That's a nice picture of Stockholm

I actually like this one. If we replace modernist skyscrapers with something, this would certainly be tolerable.

>"[...] really makes you think."

REEEEEEEEEEE

Here we see another marvel of architecture as a tool with which we can not only reflect our condition, but alter it. Gehry (formerly Goldberg) has been lauded for creating the first building capable of immediately inducing clinical depression.

fuck yeah

This one is not all bad. But there is so much going on. If the right gray block kept the style of the left it would be ok.

Gehry was on the Simpsons, which made it clear how he gets his inspiration
