There was a period of a year where I got really interested in and followed NK a few years ago. I used a lot of sources like NKnews KCNA and some south korean plus some more I dont remember and also following some blogs and twitters and shit.
I started of kinda hating North Korea then I got sympathic towards them they hate then love then hate it really introduced to this whole media cannot be trusted thing.
At the end of the year I really was not much more certain about the country than at the beginning.
My view of NK would be that its a poor commie country but where markets carry a lot of the economy as well, tho they are not. Its not just that they are commie country that makes shit so bad but also sanctions and fucking mountains everywhere leaving little farmland.
Would not trust anything at all regarding labor camps or oppression and shit, just know its a dictator and some bad stuff probably happens.
Appart from the commie stuff culture is probably more conservative which may be to pols preferance, like gays not legal and modern media are restricted to what gets smuggled and a what tiny bits the kim lets through.
