F A S H W A V E GENERAL GET COMFY 1/2 //Foreword// >More than just a collage of the nostalgic aesthetic belonged to the millennial generation, Fashwave also operates to force classicism free of the post-modernist stranglehold that academic progressives have maintained over it, for a nearly a century. We would be mistaken to claim that the antiquated speculative nature of Fashwave betrays the aesthetic as a thing only predicated on nostalgia. While it might be considered a collage of sorts, stitched together from pieces of 80s and 90s pop-culture; VHS tapes, video game soundtracks, neo-noir landscapes, neon, lasers, synthesizers, streaking brake lights and 8-bit arpeggios—Fashwave only operates modally to subvert the mainstream progressive agenda by way of nostalgic cues to the otherwise uninterested.
>The real strength and fascination of the aesthetic lies in its ability to draw a parallel between what we might call 'anachronistic futurisms;' what ideals were once held for tomorrow and have since fallen either out of favor, out of fashion, or out of plausibility—and icons of western art now so unpopular in mainstream and acceptable media. Anachronistic Futurisms are dreams sublimated into memories.
>By carefully conflating these two ideas we might touch on the birth of a new mannerism: anachronism becomes the mode by which the canons of western thought and artistic enterprise suddenly and altogether vault over the rhetorical barriers that have been set in place by post-modernism, and manned tirelessly by the drones of academia, to re-establish itself as a countercultural force.
>So it was that Piranesi’s Veduta di Roma series painted an image of Rome so fantastical that Goethe himself—a fan of Piranesi’s work—exclaimed his consuming disappointment upon first visiting the city, for it was less impressive than Piranesi’s drawings had led him to dream.

I was thinking about some text but don't have a good idea, maybe >chaos was the law of nature, order was the dream of man or >embrace your culture I want this image to like show aesthetics of traditional art and architecture that is a part of our culture in opposition to modern art. So brighter colours should also work here. As for the quote if you got any on your mind beside those two you can put it if you think that it will work better
Juan Brown

Could some user who's good with music skills mix some German classical composers with krautrock and synthwave from the 70s/80s the way vaporwave mixes 90s/80s pop with anime shit and infomercials? Sonically I think this could be an interesting new genre.

>search for "vaporwave" on google >use that a only reference >"Look mom, I created a #wave" I hope these are a meme that flew over my head, honestly.

That's great user, keep working. But I would suggest you to look for more references, you have any "classic" designer of movement that you like? It's always a good idea to look at the masters.
Try to go beyond pretty pictures with "retro" filters. Ironically, that's what killed vaporwave.

Just my 2 cents: I think this phrase would be better with an image of a war-torn african village (or something similar) on the top and this image on the bottom.
Aaron Adams
nothing in particular, what would you recommend?
Oliver Watson
hey im pretty sure this is called new retro wave
Nathaniel Williams
This is sooo good.
Jose Evans
>I dont like it therefore its not good
Fucking neck yourself achmed

The use of typography is kinda shy in your work. Look for classic/modern swiss design, I think it might help.
Remember, your are trying to communicate. The message should be loud and clear, then focus on aesthetics.
