>Donald Trump's incoming administration wasted no time setting as official policy the renegotiation of the NAFTA and the withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, expected moves that will send shock waves through the automotive industry.
>Until now, automakers and auto executives have been reluctant to publicly speak out about the potential consequences of renegotiating or pulling out of North American Free Trade Agreement because Trump's comments on the campaign trail were not official White House policy.
>But on Friday, shortly after Trump was sworn in, the administration pledged to negotiate "tough and fair" trade agreements with the goal of creating more U.S. jobs as one of its top policy issues posted on Whitehouse.gov.
>"This strategy starts by withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and making certain that any new trade deals are in the interests of American workers," the statement says. "President Trump is committed to renegotiating NAFTA. If our partners refuse a renegotiation that gives American workers a fair deal, then the President will give notice of the United States’ intent to withdraw from NAFTA."

Which will give control of pacific trade to the Chinese. They will show themselves to be a stabilizing regional power and people will accept them as the default leader of the region.

>Good job Trump, shrinking the American empire on your second day.
The North American "Free Trade" agreement was the destruction of protective tarrifs that put American workers in direct competition with third world slave labor, destroying our manufacturing sector by incentivising these companies moving to other nations, and paying cheap slave labor instead of american workers.
This has a cumulative effect of negatively impacting our foreign account deficit, and removing liquidity from the American economy.
tl;dr Fuck NAFTA.

Absolutely fucking this Even better, once the US withdraws from TPP, so will Japan and then the whole thing implodes. Xi Jinping is having an earth shattering orgasm right now.

Free trade enables us to exploit foreign labor, which is practically free. That is a good thing. We don't want their fake currency, we don't want to export our goods to them! We get real things, real goods, like iphones, for very little because of their low labor costs in china.
Wouldn't you love to have a housekeeper who cleaned your house for 50 cents a day? Free trade does practically the same thing, only with goods we use every day. Without free trade goods would be 10-1000% more expensive.

Most analysis showed that the TTP would be beneficial for the economy. The IP law stuff was totally fucked, but the agreement was a move to contain China by entering into trade pacts with all the countries around it. Now China can swoop in and expand their sphere of influence.
