First for Mother

I'm a struggling Evangelical Protestant who hates the. cuckoldry of his denomination -- help me understand why I should convert

Second for Christ-chan

Finally.
Thank you, OP.

Well, unfortunately the Dutch water works are designed in such a way that Amsterdam the last part of the Western Netherlands to flood

Is Francis a legitimate pope? What will happen if he is more explicit about changing the rules on reception of the Eucharist by divorced and civilly remarried Catholics?

Stop beating it

>help me understand why I should convert
This could be a fairly long discussion to have. And I feel the best way to respond and explain why you should convert is by starting with the following statement than answering all further questions you put forth.

>You should convert to Catholicism because it is the original form of Christianity. The faith and practices that Jesus taught to his apostles to the closest it can be.
>Catholicism continues the ministry that the apostles were charged with through all this time.

I'm a bit tired, not the best reasoning so far. But the jist of it is there. And even before you may say what basis I have for the former, just look into the time-line of Christianity. Protestant branches came off 1500 years after Jesus died, changed biblical cannon, etc.

Any thoughts about the Young Pope?

I won't put in the ones about abortion because the Dogma is a little wrong.

If y'all want the 10 episodes can be binged since the blu-ray is already out.

Watch all 10 and make a constructive argument.

I found it quite profound, with critiques of the Church however, alot of the thoughts on mysticism and the entire mystery of the Church I found wonderful.

One such was Voiello, an oxymoron within himself.

>Has a lavish home
>Doesn't live in it, but rather takes care of a disabled boy at night

Any thoughts?

Because it is accurate.
There is a historic transition of doctrine from the early church through apostolic succession. Evangelicals would deny that apostolic succession in exchange for a focus on scripture alone. Because of this they separate from the traditions of the past and corrupt the faith as those denominations have done for centuries, to the point of massive socioeconomic destruction.

But beyond all of this, I suppose, is that they do not have with them the path to salvation. Their confusion has led them astray.

I'm in somewhat similar situation.

>Is Francis a legitimate pope?
Yes.
>What will happen if he is more explicit about changing the rules on reception of the Eucharist by divorced and civilly remarried Catholics?
Then he gets removed from his position. I believe if the pope says anything heretical that all the cardinals and the Church can give him the banhammer. I'm not sure if it has a specific term, but there is something in place that kicks him if he does say crazy shit like allowing Eucharist go to divorced (that are still fucking their new wife/husband instead of living like brother and sister)

Pray. Fall. Pray again and try harder each time you fall. Ask for the strength to overcome your lust as you do not have the strength yourself.

You stop seeking it.

>worship
>kings

user, please.

They split over the iconoclasm, so neither is older than the other. Both see each other as having split off from the own church. Of course, the orthodox Christians are wrong, because worshipping images is idolatry

Always Remember you are hated.
Always Remember you deserve it.

You've invaded my country and murdered and raped my people. Your pope has cheered this on from our borders. You will all pay for this.

How can Jesus be the messiah with so many prophecies unfulfilled?

reddit.com/r/Judaism/wiki/jesus

I deleted all my dating apps. And my kik and snapchat. It's tough but I'm becoming more serious about my faith (born and raised Catholic) but, haven't had put my heart into it

When did the Catholic Church invade the US exactly?

Don't Catholics also pray to shrines containing images though?

We don't know when prophecies will happen.
You can't say it wont be tomorrow just because it is today.

>Isn't orthodoxy older though?
No. But then again an Orthodox person would say that they are. The Orthodox split off from the Catholic Church in about 1024. However they still are very similar to the original Church.

>What makes Catholicism superior?
I believe it would be because the Catholic Church is continuing its apostolic succession from St. Peter himself.

You may be thinking this is just coming from a Catholic and is bias. I'll just point out here that I was an atheist and had no biases in selecting a denomination. I spent 6 months researching every branch of Christianity until I found the most accurate and true to its original form that I could.

most jews dont even agree what the actual prophecies are.

Theologically speaking, God is prayed to via the depicted saints, who act as a go-between for normal believers and God. Worshipping the actual images is strictly prohibited. Orthodox Christians believe the images (icons) possess godly powers themselves and the painting and worshipping are both done in a ritualistic manner. They believe this is allowed because of a loophole called 'acheieopoieta', which basically states that because God has sometimes made icons Himself, it is allowed to make and worship said images

Are there different sects of Catholicism?

We have saying here that goes like: "Justful oil always rises to the top" i.e. Punishment for evil doers (or evil places) will come sooner or later. But it will come eventually. One can only live good life in Christ and wait for it.

But if you can't stand it, Poland was and still is open for people of good will. We even havelittle depression on north so you can easily acclimate. Only requirement is to embrace fullines of polish culture (and you even can keep Dutch customs for you and your children)
>USA still can't explain why he worships the Supreme Court like a kings

>I deleted all my dating apps. And my kik and snapchat. It's tough but I'm becoming more serious about my faith (born and raised Catholic) but, haven't had put my heart into it
Good to hear user, keep it up and persevere. Just keep fighting the urge to masturbate. Cut off all forms of imagery that may provoke you. If you start thinking of sexual things try cancel it out; like try picture the Holy Spirit or Christ having nails driven into his wrists into the cross, He endured that to save us. Think of whatever you can to get your mind off lustful thoughts. And don't give up even if you fail.

Effectively this.

No. Catholics do not pray to shrines.

the Jewish messiah could not appear later than 200AD. So either the messiah already appered before, or judaism was always full of shit from the beginning, there's no escaping from that.
Jews have had throughout history lots of people claiming to be the messiah, and they even believed some of the. All those messiahs failed of course, most of them in their life converted either to islam or to christianity itself

Yep, whenever you pray to a saint, you're praying for him or her to intercede on your behalf to talk to God.

I wouldn't say so. Moreso just orders/denominations like Jesuits, Franciscans, Dominicans etc. They're like specialties that focus their efforts on a particular thing within the church

A-a-a-anyone? I typed it all out for you guys haha

>Are there different sects of Catholicism?
There are no different sects of Catholicism. There are people called sedevacantists however that deny the legitimacy of the papacy. However they are not considered Catholic but instead are labeled heretics.

Touche

Nope, Orthodoxy arised from Constantinoplan nationalism. Its patriarchate is leftover from an usurpation of the Petrine office, which is why they made the myth that Andrew was bishop there when there isnt any contemporary proof of it in Apostolic writings (most sources are apocryphal)

I really don't like how she calls Jesus her buddy. The Master of the universe shouldn't be called a buddy.

No, but there are different rites.

>the Jewish messiah could not appear later than 200AD
Proofs?

And when was Jesus supposed to come back and fulfill the messianic prophecies? Before some of those standing among him tasted death? Before 'this' generation passed?

This best not be popery.

Sorry user will have a look at the clips shortly. I've been avoiding it as from some of the reviews I've read or things I've heard about it; that it makes a lot of modernist, negative views of the Church. I tend to avoid that sort of stuff as it tends to grind my gears.

kekism is the truth

youtube.com/watch?v=zMGZtkMS3sQ

Lately I feel very close to deciding.. I went to Catholic schools despite being protestant and the priests and brothers were some of the most wise and godly mentors I ever had, and I have often felt the tugging at my heart but having been raised in my denomination I was conditioned to be aversed to Catholicism..

I'm conflicted.. If any of you could pray for me, for full clarity in making my decision, I would be thankful. I just want to live in the Lord's light and peace.

True, this is most obvious in the Ave Maria, where Mary is literally asked to pray for the sins of the one who prays

>Sancta Maria, mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus

kekism is a a joke that got stale.

Are there any sins you can't come back from and be forgiven ?

With already understood, the claim of the site tends to be fairly weak.

Much of these claims rest on the idea that Jesus' time has passed and so could not be the messiah when Christians believe Jesus is still around and resurrected. Further, they also completely ignore the idea of the World to Come in Christian theology and Heaven itself.

There are no different sects. There are people who trend towards different views of the church they are part of that have names (under the umbrella Traditionalist Catholics) and there are two rites (different systems of church customs) called the Latin Rite (or Roman Rite) and Eastern Rite.

Yes it has some critiques and lots of bad language and nudity, but the entire progression of the season from something dark and gritty to something hopeful is what I loved about it. In the US, they're doing a review episode by episode so you won't get the whole progression. I binge'd it from start to finish, and its beautiful. Really good metaphors and shows that priests and nuns are humans and have lapses in faith like any human. But in the end there is forgiveness and not rigidity in the church.

The young pope is really good at being subversive, whether willingly or not. Like the scene about the priests being cowards. Sorrentino makes them out to be cowards that escape love which is complete bullshit and it's actually the opposite, priests are the most corageous because they give up on easy, cheap, attainable love to exclusively see the ultimate, most hidden, most infinite form of love (the one that comes from God).
Or take pic related for example. It was aesthetic as fuck, and made you think of the uninterrupted succession of the Church, of its wealth of knowledge and wisdom.....and then what happens? Sorrentino shits all over it, he makes those popes sound dumb and even makes them say "more than God believe in yourself" which is absolutely anti-christian and diabolical.
I could go on forever. Fact is, the Young Pope is good if you leave out its bullshit and only look at it from catholic fanboy goggles, and if you ignore the fact that it very subtly tells you that catholicism is shit.

Are there any orders that are considered "uncucked"?

>I was conditioned to be aversed to Catholicism.
Many are, is there any thoughts in particular that you hold against Catholicism that we can help you out with? Whether it be prayers of intercession, real presence of the Eucharist, etc?

>I'm conflicted.. If any of you could pray for me, for full clarity in making my decision
Will definitely include you in my prayers brother.

I'm afraid to get baptized because I'm afraid my interest in Catholicism is only a phase.

I'm a person who has always gone in phases. I used to play guitar 8 hours a day, then I got really into lifting weights, then I got into atheism, then I got into video games, etc. now I'm really into the Catholic Church. I spend all day on forums, reading, talking to priests, etc. I feel good when I go to mass and the church makes sense to me, but I fear that by getting baptized I'm making a promise I won't keep. It's driving me nuts.

Haven't been to church in forever. Should I start going again?

>tfw always too hungover/busy

He probably mean Hispanics. Maybe even Irish. Or maybe even Poles since they were on literally second ship that landed in British colonies (I cannot ensure that they were Catholic tho, it was 1609).
But it was thier fault, when you make shittone of anticatholic propaganda it is like electromagnets to faithful.
No.
There are rites (how liturgy is done) like Roman-Catholicism, Greco-Catholicism, Assyrian-Catholicism (we have all of them if my memory is right), religious orders (dominicans, jesuits, franciscans) and in church organisations. But they all part of one, unitarian church.
There are various quasi-Catholic sects though, like sedevacantists and other "old-catholics". Or mariavites. Or rosicrucians even. But calling it catholics is like calling Arizona part of British Isles.

>Are there any sins you can't come back from and be forgiven ?
There is but one. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. I'll just copy paste a good response to explain this nicely.
"blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, is any sin that a person clings to by continually resisting the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. Keep in mind that there is not one specific sin that is unforgivable, such as lying, stealing or murder, but rather a perpetual hardening of the heart and willfully sinning against God and man (1 Timothy 4:2; Titus 1:15). In Acts 7:51, Stephen says the following to the Pharisees, "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” In a nutshell the unpardonable sin is any sin that a person doesn’t want to give up, confess, or even ask forgiveness for and additionally doesn’t want to hear any more about it from the Holy Spirit.

Any sin mankind wants pardon for is forgivable, however, if we turn our backs on the voice of the Holy Spirit we begin to silence His convictions and eventually we cannot hear His convicting power. This effectively blocks the working of God in our lives because we have reached a point where we are unable respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. "

May have to look into it still. I do enjoy my Catholic series. Despite the only other one I know was The Exorcist series. Did it well.

>Proofs?
many rabbis have admitted it

>And when was Jesus supposed to come back and fulfill the messianic prophecies?
at the end of times

> Before some of those standing among him tasted death? Before 'this' generation passed?
Jesus there was referring to the Jews, who did taste death during that generation.

Always good to have you, user.

Memes are always fun, user.

All you cannot be forgiven for is not wishing for forgiveness. This is what is called the blasphemy of the holy spirit.

Of course, I see the critiques. Same with Voiello's hypocrisy in living lavishly, but never spending time in his home, but rather caring for Girolamo. Or Voiello falling in love with Sister Mary.

I did like the fact they pointed out the thoughts on sainthood and miracles. Where you ask help from God before asking help from humans themselves.

It is a good piece for debate imo. Was it quite popular in italy? Any reviews by catholic sources?

Am i welcomed here? I like orthodox Easter and Christmas

I like to look at clips from it time to time. I don't have time for watching whole thing sadly. "Knock Knock" speech was Deus Vult/10 tho.

Thanks for the answers, really cleared it up

It's a win-win situation: when you start going to church on sundays, you will have to stop the degeneracy of boozing on saturday nights, so you are absolved of two sins in one go.

Just booze on fridays and through carnaval like a good Christian does.

>100% secular humanism
>87% unitarian universalism
>87% non-theist

All are welcome, this is a thread of Christ.

Make Catholicism Orthodox Again

I don't think it sounds good just to go to be absolved of sins though. You have to have it in your heart and soul to go. Don't make a chore of it.

>I'm afraid to get baptized because I'm afraid my interest in Catholicism is only a phase.
You're being called into the faith user. Don't turn away from it out of fear. If you get baptized and then fell away from it then you would be an atheist again wouldn't you? So there would be nothing to lose? But after getting baptized you will be much more receptive to God and grow in faith and love for him.
>As for the promise aspect
Many people fall after their baptism. But Christ is ever loving and ever forgiving. If you fall and repent you will be picked up brought back to him. Thats why he implemented the sacrament of reconciliation in the Church. Not only are you sins forgiven but you grow from it as well.

>Haven't been to church in forever. Should I start going again?
Yes. Come on user, its the body and blood of Christ being offered for your salvation. Being hungover/busy is no excuse. This holidays most of my mass has been hungover, just work on drinking less and drinking more water before sleep.
>Yesterdays mass I woke up at 7am after 2 nights of drinking out camping and drove an hour and a half through the country to get home to take a shower to go to mass
You can do it user, its well worth it.

Always glad to be part of these threads Wolfie. Second favorite part of the week at the moment, after mass of course.

didnt the othadox stuff start over someone getting excommunicated?

*make Orthodoxy Catholic again
ftfy

>tfw born and raised Catholic

You overdo things and burn yourself out, it seems.
If you mind me examining yoy, in what way are you "into" the Catholic Church?

The word you're looking for is Potpourri.

Cathodox union when?

That's the fun thing about it: you can both feel good and be absolved of sins

That's the whole idea behind it, I think. Living well feels good and feeling good means living well.

>many rabbis have admitted it
Proofs?

>Jesus there was referring to the Jews, who did taste death during that generation.
>Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

But nothing happened

God is a loving father. He is all-powerful, justful, crude even but he IS Love. I don't find having Philia towards God (while, of course having Agape too) to be wrong.

im not a beleiver but damm you guys have a knack for architecture

>Am i welcomed here? I like orthodox Easter and Christmas
Of course you're welcome user. Any questions we can help answer about Christianity/Catholicism?

Lucky bastard.
>tfw only been able to have the holy Eucharist for about 8 months

Idk, it feels disrespectful to me.

SOON

>But nothing happened
do you know what happened in 70AD, user? Only 40 years later?

Orthodoxy isn't older, they are the same age. The Orthodox are in political schism over Petrine authority.

Theologically Latin Catholic and Eastern Catholic are equals. Every Orthodox church is represented by a Catholic Sui Juris Church.

when dumb ass white protties started going fag and taking birth control

>go to Catholic General
>ask if you should go to church

The grace from the sacrament is plainly good for you and if you have this much shit going on during a Sunday morning perhaps going to it could better discipline yourself.
I mean no offense in saying this, user, but this reads like: "Should I keep doing what I'm doing or should I better myself."

I went to mass as a joke and found that the church wasn't what I expected it to be. It was beautiful and my first experience with a real religious mystery. I've found that the church is open to people from all walks of life, who have their own doubts and concerns and even beliefs in many matters. So I talked to a catholic friend, who hooked me up with a catholic professor, who gave me books to read, and suddenly I'm here in catholic general every week. It has all made a lot of sense to me so far. It's constantly on my mind...same way my previous phases and hobbies have been.

1596
Intentions is what matters in case of presumably or unintentional wrongdoing. I really doubt that drawfag who did this had bad intentions towards God.
>Proofs?
Didn't last High Priest (and I mean, absolutely last, with no successors of Aaron left) died in 160 AD?

Honestly, the only thing I need is to know the Holy Spirit is with you.

Everyone is welcome here, we will just disagree with your views often. Feel free to challenge us just as we will challenge you.

The western Church started calling their ruler an emperor. The eastern Church didn't like that and closed down all Latin Masses in the east. The western Church did the same and they split. Everything else was just fuel for the flames.

Well, not just someone, the Eastern and Western parts of the church excommunicated each other wholesale in 1054. Formally this was over various theological disagreements, but in practice it may have been more of a secular power struggle between the (former) Eastern and Western Roman Empires. The Catholic and Orthodox regions in Europe still correspond with the two parts of the Roman Empire as they used to be, sans the parts conquered by muslims and the Reformation, of course

Also basically what says

No. You're either in communion or your not.

Knock Knock was brilliant

Actually, it seems autism is more inclined to atheism.
