ITT: War stories passed on in your family
>my uncle was in the US air force 2001-2009
>worked as mechanic on planes
>story about how he got caught in the middle of an ambush
>held off kebab heroically
>he livd happily evr aftur duh end
That was the story, but recently after a party, he got a little tipsy and told me the TRUE story..
>be him
>kebab in the area, not even terrorists, just shady guy near hangar
>friends start firing randomly into city
>he keeps working, they fire off a shot every once in a while

>grandpa as young man goes to forest
>finds bunch of rotting soviet skellingtons
>takes their skulls home
>bleaches the skulls
>inserts electronics inside skulls
>turns the skulls into lamps

All I know is what is on this peice of paper. Grandma cried because she missed him. Grandma is with him now.

>grandfather was from Ukraine
>WWII
>Soviets wanted to kill Ukrainians
>him and his famuly escape to Germany, eventually to America
>tfw as a result Grandfather hates Jews because he feels they fucked up his country

>stabbed a maori with a bayonet
>the end

so the jews werent lieing about the lampshades after all

I'm sorry, user.

My great grandad fought in the British army in WW1. A bomb went off next to him which completely buried him. His friend then dug him out. I don't have family that fought in WW2.

Just remembered another one

>grandpa finds lots of soviet and nazi stuff from forests and fields after war
>finds SS totenkopf cockade
>makes a ring out of it
>20 years later
>grandpa gives it to my dad
>uncle steals it from dad, sells it for beer money

My grandpa is an engineer and he was very interested in electronics since a very young age. He had to leave the lamps behind after the ruskies took over Karjala, but only because his other didn't want him to drag those things with him.
I wish I had those lamps, they would be very morbid but cool decorative elements.

>Grandpa's brother was a dirty Jap
>WW2
>Enrolled in army
>Joined 442 battalion
>Killed in Anzio, Italy.
>He is on local monument in capitol district

fast forward to present

>grandson tries to turn in pedo
>pedo is part of network preying on kids in Waikiki tourist district
>cops try to frame and murder grandson
>laugh about how they are going to do whatever they want and no one will stop them
>fail
>fail again
>and again
>...
>Years pass
>Grandson gets evidence against Honolulu PD, courts and snitch network
>they stop laughing and start yelling "terrorist"
>they can't keep story straight, except for this part -
>He must be a criminal because he owns a gun
>HE MUST BE A TERRORIST AND EVERYTHING WE DID TO HIM IS JUSTIFIED BECAUSE HE LEGALLY OWNS A GUN WE MADE HIM ILLEGALLY JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO GET.
>oh yeah, he mentioned the U.S. Constitution in a positive manner in his private communications we illegally intercepted.

Gob bless.

my great-grandpa got stabbed by a jew in WW2

Sincerest respects, user. RIP.

>Soviets wanted to kill Ukrainians

We still want it

*his mother

Goddamn.

>be grandfather
>build concentration camps over night
>gas 6 million jews
>invest all of the reichs money to build lampshades with their skins
>everyone starving
>not enough coins to win the war
>dont give a fuck because i got millions of lampshades

>be me
>find a stash of rifle ammo at grandma's
>be told great grandfather was assasinated by the reds because he was a pacifist
>be told grandfather became a requete
>history behind bullets skipped

You are super-duper Finnish, user.

That's metal af

Dad fought in Vietnam, drafted at 18
Vietnamese women constantly tried to fuck our guys
>tfw they put razors in their pussies to fuck up our guys and send them home
>tfw my dad kicked bitches in the face from his top bunk when he's trying to sleep

He also watched 5 of his closest buddies get shot and die. He was in some rough stuff

I remember my father always telling this story growing up.
>Be my father
>Grew up in buttfuck no where Vermont
>Family always called him Lee
>Little brother who was apparently a genius painter dies in fire.
>Skip ahead many years.
>Father out in Vietnom.
>Got to be on point during a patrol.
>Starts heading into a clearing and hears from nowhere "Lee get down!"
>Father looks around, no one there.
>Continues on.
>Hears it again but louder "Lee get down!"
>Drops to the ground as ambush goes off.
>Manages to get out alive after the ambush, he guesses, waited for him to pass and the main patrol to show up.
Guess the family watches over us in death but a neat story.

That's funny - my Jewish great-grandfather stabbed a Bulgarian in WW II.

>all males of my family died fighting for Austrians in austro-french war of 1792
>great great grandfather died for Austrians in 1914 on Galicia
>All brothers of my grandfather (from mother's side) were hunted down and killed by partisans in WW2 for being chetniks
>great grandfather was shot by a German officer who took our house during occupation, luckily he lived
there's no fun in being a Serb

Grandpa bombed Nazi's, got shot down, captured and held prisoner for 6 months then liberated. Came home, married his sweetheart, had 8 beautiful kids and lived a long happy life in the greatest nation on Earth.

True American hero.

Just thinking that too.

>be 18, liberate Dachau
>kill nazis
>speak Polish well and a little German so you get in charge of a group of SS prisoners of war
>get along well with them, give them access to a machine shop
>let them go out to find booze at night
>know they'll come back because if Slavs catch them they're shot
>keep in touch with some of the SS prisoners by letter. Help one get to Scotland.

Respects.

Hey user, you may already have this, but in the Princeton Newspaper archives, there is a .pdf file of a June 30, 1945 paper listing your grandfather as a casualty at Okinawa. Just, ya know, if you're interested.

>Be my great grandfather in WWII, Pacific theater
>Be on ship in middle of the ocean

>Get out alive and intact
>Nek minnit everyone is puking everywhere

>grandfather was in kriegsmarine
>worked as a torpedo mechanic
>captured as pow in 1941
>could speak 4 languages so his job was translator
>returns to hometown of berlin in 1946
>everyone he knew was dead
>moved to Canada

Great-grandfather was an intel officer in the 8th army, was in a convoy of trucks in Italy bringing locals back to their homes after clearing some luigis from a town, then the italian army mortared the convoy and a shell landed behind a truck full of civilians killing them but the driver in the cabin didn't realise until they reached the town and found the civilians were dead

>dad was in the Air Force in Vietnam.
>worked at a supplying depot out of harm's way
>only lost two cargo planes while he was there
>one crashed upon landing
>the other dad ran into with a forklift

Don't race forklifts around the warehouse, kids.

Lel
You deserve it

ha

Thanks user and apparently.
Family Crest says we fought in three crusades.

>grandfather moving through the burmese jungle looking for japs
>jap blocks his path
>unsheaths his katana

>decapitates the jap with knife

>ww2
>great grandfather

>One of the first 500 to sign up in his state
>Ended up getting caught in an explosion in ~1916

>Was 24 at the time
>At one point doctors went to call the priest in to perform final duties
>Great-grandfather was having none of that
>"Bugger the Padre"
>Slowly recovered
>Met my great-grandmother in hospital (she was his nurse)
>Suffered from phantom limbs, described it as feeling like getting stabbed in the ankle repeatedly
>Smoked like a chimney up until a heart attack at age 64

3 of my great aunts where fighting in the undergroud polish resistance group Polska Walcząca.
A group of SS troops stationed at my grandma's house for a few months during the time germany was pushing east.

>has never eaten pretzels since
Also

Last one
>Navy Seals inside Iraq looking for Spuds
>can't get a request through for a resupply over comms
>Dad picks up traffic and gets them through
>is awarded another medal

*Scuds

>Great-grandfather was rich farmer in Silesia
>National-Socialist (I think) so gets to be overseer of town/area
>At the end of war Ivan arrives
>he gets notified and warns everyone so they can flee
>gets caught later because of that
>has to witness how remaining women and their children get shot etc.
>Gulag
>After some time he and some mates realise they will die there anyway so might as well die while trying to flee
>everyone gets shot except for him
>walk all the way back from Russia to Germany
>eventually find family in Germany

>never sees his homeland of Silesia or town again

my family never tells me much about him and the ones who did are dead now,
probably because he was an ebil nazi bigot
>pic related (I think that's his)

Holy shit, what a badass

>My father was a sergeant in the military
>Some condecoration and shit in some small base
>Suddenly nasty guerrilla in a motorcicle throws a grenade near him.
>Nothing happened to him
>The one in his left, dies.
Well,He doesn't talk too much about army, he says that things are really hard and fucked up inside.

>They finally find him but he was so depleated they barely recognized him

>pacific theater
>run the nips out of tinian, saipan
>commanding general of invasion of okinawa
>on mcarthur's staff for Tokyo
>seizes nips ancient katana

My dad was a POG in the NVA in the Vietnam War. So I've got no stories :(

>Grandfather served as a medic for the US
>Convoy driving single file through a narrow street in Italy in 1943 or 44
>little boy drops ball or something and runs into street

My grandfather

> be simple farmer

> make a deal with your ss cousin after war to sell them
> war ends
> cousin takes the medals and disappears with them
> continue farming and take 16 year old loli for wife
> die decades later in car crash

The start of that was literally "the band played waltzing Matilda"
youtube.com/watch?v=nW3o9HqqgIA

beautiful.

Grandpas Uncle was an Admiral in the Italian navy durring WW2
He used his fleet to basically just take loot out of Greece

>I guess he was a good sniper.

I wouldn't bet on it user
viet snipers were opportunists, vultures
probably took him out when he went for a shit or something

Was your grandad a genius?

nah bong, just live here. Would be weird for a dutchfag to have a Blutorden wouldn't it?

what movie?

My dad told me in Vietnam he yelled at some black soldiers to get down and they just started dancing

The Way Back?

imdb.com/title/tt1023114/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_26

My great grandfather was a German pilot in ww1. He said his missions were literally to take a burlap sac with 20 hand grenades and fly low enough to drop them in trenches. He defected to America and fought for the aef in 1917 lel.

larping faggot

>Great grandfather joins The Gordon Highlanders.
>WW2.
>Italy.
>The yanks in control at the time decided to stop instead of pushing or some shit. (Never explained this part)
>Ambush.
>Everything going to shit.
>He gets hit by a friendly motor shell who happen to also be yanks.
>Survives.
>Wound gets gangrene.
>Somehow he only needed to cut off the foot and not the whole leg as they thought at the time.
He did end up with a slight hate for Americans after that.

Also my other Great Grandfather served in WW2 but we never hear anything.
The family on my mums side has served in the Gordon Highlanders since the battle of Waterloo. Uncle ruined that streak and now the detachment is no longer.

RIP
Fuck you leaf, his ancestors fought for the good guys.

>Be a farmer in rural spain in 1936
>One day some gentlemen in uniform come visiting all homes
>Either you join, or """"""""take a walk""""" with them to never be seen again
>Great-grandfather joins because he has a family and he is not stupid

>Comes back from the war absolutely hating war and weapons
>Nobody in his house is allowed to play with toy guns
>Doesnt tell any tale about his time in the war
>Proceeds to create a p big family and do allright during the famine

Funily enough he hated animals
The famine was fucked up and stray animals were so hungry they got into homes to steal food.

I heard he made a cat walk the plank with a broom from a third floor window

Shouldnt have begged us to get in your shitty war then

>Great great grandfather survived both Balkan wars but died in WW1 due to disease
>Great grandfather was in Chetnkiks and got killed byGermans via grenade

I fucking hate British.

>Grandfather fought in WWII
>helped liberate Norwegian royalty
>got personal letter from the King of Norway
>thanked him and the others for their help

Always felt allegiance to scandinavian countries after learning that, especially Norway..

Love you Nor-bros

Grandpa fought in the republican's side in the civil war because his best friend was split in half by an italian plane. Later was dispatched in the Blue Division and came back home, he later met my grandma and got married. He died in 2007 being 87 years old, he was a pretty funny guy and I remember how he told me the same joke everytime I visited him because he was senile and I just laughed to make him feel good. I still miss him.

Your dad is a badass.

French here

>Grandpa volunteered for the Algerian war because he was in conflict with his father
>18, got into paratroopers
>He lived through so much shit he never talks about it
>Doesn't even want to watch war movies or gets angry when he sees us playing war vidyas
>He's always been a bit racist, especially towards Arabs, and it's getting worse with years to the point a part of my family doesn't really want to see him anymore
>Two years ago he gave me family medals (1870, 1914, his owns), saying I'm the only one of his 6 grandchildren worthy of it
>This Christmas I'm the only one with him
>He drinks a bit, we talk about muslims, niggers, and how I'll have a dark future in the upcoming race war
>He tells me he has a hidden .45 from Algerian war
>"I took it on a dead fellagha I drove over. You'll have it after I'm dead."

Maybe one day he will tell me his kebab removing stories.

Your grandfather is based and you too for staying with him.

Snowden why are you using an american proxy?

not a war story but sort of related

>be treasure hunting with my bro man moons ago with our metal detectors in a forest
>big signal bro
>FOR YOU
>start digging
>looks a slightly rotted away soviet heltmet!
>da
>keep digging
>pull out
>underneath a ruski skull
>no body found
>only a fully laid out ammunition belt nearby

My father worked in the Immigration office in the 1980s and is responsible for approving tens of thousands of requests for our new friends and lovers from Muslim countries to join us in Sweden.

He's the bravest soldier I've ever known.

Holy shit my sides, you almost made me fired from my law class

>that image
kek

>>all males of my family died fighting for Austrians

what a waste

Autism

...

...

>great uncle at the battle of Dunkirk
>fleeing from Germans
>scrambling onto the boats
>falls into water in the process
>tries to climb out of water, a German soldier kicks him in the face
>English soldier kills German, helps my great uncle onto a boat
>for the rest of his life he had a scar on his face from the German's jackboot

I vaguely recall being told that he was wounded at the time too, either by a bullet passing through his shoulder or by shrapnel.
