The Internet should not be governed like a standard telecom service. It needs it's own set of rules.

The problem is that Comcast, Verizon, and Time Warner all hold the DNS servers which in turn means they can deny anybody from connecting to the greater internet. In some places you only get one of those three and they've already admitted to non-competition clauses.
