Now we're talking. Honduras is a crazy place, one story in particular encapsulates how my country is pretty well. There is a small store in the second largest city, San Pedro Sula, called "el bombazo" wich vaguely translates to "the bomb-strike". The reason why is in conmemoration of the attempted assassination the gangs did on the owner. Over there gangs are ridiculously powerful and are very well equipped in terms of the hardware they pack, so wealthy people have their cars outfitted for protection. The guy was extremely wealthy and had a level 5 armor platin or something like that which basically means the car can only be stopped by land mines. The gangs tried to murder him while on a street, after failing to damage the car with their ak's they threw grenades at it and it flipped but the guy survived and his bodyguards repelled the attack. Thus why the car was named as it was. If you want to hear more stories i got plenty.

I am a third Honduran and I can tell you there's nothing good about that country except there aren't any active volcanoes in the country.

After 1990 everything went shit, the president at that time lifted a law that allowed anyone who turned 18 to serve the military this was a big mistake. The government since then has been sizing power and eliminating its competition and or anyone who is against it.

When 1998 came and hurricane Mitch threw the country back to the dark ages it went really to shit. The new president did not know what to do, all the help was only sent to major cities, many outskirt towns were left with little or no help for more than a four months, hell even almost a year.

2000s the same shit again, people trying to size power and corruption has been an everyday thing since 1800s. The country is poor as fuck, the people are partly to blame even within the people corruption is alive, any party gives them 100LPS to anyone to vote for them and they will. People will not listen to anyone with a brain, all the "smart" politicians will just keep quiet is a graveyard for anyone with a change.

If anything that place should be a kingdom to restore order or have a cast system like Singapore its a fucking joke.

No OP, but I was adopted from Honduras when I was 18 months old. I have a Masters degree in Management Information Systems. There are some of us that have managed to make something of ourselves. Also, we are generally fairly white in complexion. Most people assume I am Italian or some type of European.

There definitely are good things in Honduras. Unfortunately they are extremely limited. A good example would be sir Salvador Moncada, which is our only relevant contribution in the scientific field. I'll tell you a secret. A few years ago while in uni i was involved with the guys that did data collection, interpretation, sample gathering and al that shit in both the medical and biological fields. German, and other European scientists would come to our uni. Pay the uni to do all the hard work of collecting and doing the initial processing of the data, and then they would do the rest. End result being German university publishes paper about a new active ingredient that may be useful for treating some disease found in honduran tropical forest, and a European pharmaceutical patenting its use, without acknowledging Honduran contributors.
