Is there such thing as an American Identity anymore, and is there any hope of it either coming back, or being reborn under Trump?
I'm a young fag, I grew up in this multicultural cesspit. I don't feel like there is an American Identity, at least not like there used to be before (((1965))). They've pushed the narrative that this Nation belong to everyone, but in doing so they've made it so that this nation belongs to no one. I feel like I don't have a real national identity, just a label that applies to 320 million others who differ from me in many ways, especially in terms of race and creed. Is there any hope for a national identity in America? Am I alone in this feel?

In thinking about this, I'm trying to draw a link between what traits have traditionally comprised American identity (such as innovation and isolationism) and what signifies Americanism now. It's not easy. Obviously isolationism is a thing of the past, though hope remains that that may change. Its lingering influence is mostly negative, as non-Sup Forumsack Americans are typically pretty ignorant of the rest of the world. There's some great research being done in this country, but only a tiny portion of the population is involved in it and many of them are not even American.
At least we're not Canada. It's like that country is doing everything in its power to be a duller, lamer America.
Daniel Walker
Having something in common with 320 million people is impossible, your perspective is way too wide. Your focus should be on your locality so just move to a place with little to no niggers and spics.
Landon Hughes
My point is that it's impossible to have a common odentity with 320 million people, especially when millions of those people are an entirely different race
Bentley Hernandez
I always wondered how much of Americas greatness is only present because of the hard work of previous White generations? Can America sustain that greatness when whites fade away both in culture and genetics?
Jordan Robinson
What I mean is that I feel like a foreigner in what is supposed to be my country, I see ads in Spanish all the time, whole months dedicated to a specific groups """history""" (Black history month) I feel like I don't belong here. Does that make sense?
Liam Sanchez
No, just look at our cities, crime ridden shit holes. But at least they're diverse:^)
Leo Perez
Civic nationalists think what matters most is the rules and fiscal policy while generally eschewing the importance of ethnicity, I think they are wrong.
Jordan Thompson
Yeah I feel you. May I ask where in America you live? I have had a fairly similar experience to yours, growing up in a New England city (can only imagine what it's like in, say, urban SoCal/honorary Aztlan), but this is a big country. If white identity is important to you, maybe spending some time in places like small-town Maine or Montana would do you good. Unfortunately those areas don't tend to offer a lot of opportunity. You can choose for yourself where to live, but in the process you must decide how important community cohesion and feeling of belonging are to you, when compared to practical considerations like employment.
Evan Sullivan
I firmly believe that a strong cultural and ethnic identity is key for people to care about their society. People who share a somewhat similar life goals can feel safer knowing that nobody wants to destroy the possibilities of those goals being achieved. Feeling safe in that manner I think is crucial for productivity and prosperity.
Bentley Parker
I grew up in NOVA, but I've lived in (((CT))) for the past 3 years. The amount of Poz and Ethno-masochism they shove down your throat here is unreal. I like the south much more, even though NOVA is still cucked, living here makes it look based as fuck. Is there anywhere in the South were there is still Identity?
Adrian Lee
This. We don't have this in America anymore, at least from what I've seen
Jeremiah Ward
>Is there anywhere in the South were there is still Identity? I have barely spent any time in the South; can't help you there. New Orleans has a fairly distinct identity, but something tells me it's not what you're looking for. Condolences about CT. Half "vibrant" hellholes, half well-off little cuckvilles, no middle ground.
Justin Rodriguez
Depends on where you go in the South. I live in NC. Live in a primarily white small town. There's definitely a form of white identity. Unfortunately it's surrounded by countries with huge black populations. I think that's the case for most Southern states, as the majority of black people live in the South. There are white pockets though, but they are being pushed out.
Adam Flores
It's also the reason why I think our socialism-lite actually worked. People were so similar, connected and unafraid to live. We shared similar ideas of life and nobody minded the government because we felt like family, trust was skyhigh and everybody worked hard as fuck.
Now... now I for the first time see genuine fear in the people here. Everyone is more cautious, more disconnected and more afraid to live normally in society. This is clearly a problem caused by the retarded multiculturalism, but it has also spread amongst normal swedes. It's sad I think, we are on our way to stop thinking of ourselves as our own people and more like modern consumer cattle. We will eventually share nothing in common except toilet paper brands.
Isaac Cox
Fuck. Is there any hope for this country, or should I just jump ship to a white country and try to preserve the demographics there?
William Bailey
Bump because this is an interesting question that I fail to see civic nationalists and other groups answer.
Angel Rodriguez
Isolationism is a myth, the US has never been isolationist. Even Jefferson sent the navy and marines to go fight in Africa.

Every state in the South is majority white by a huge margin. The Southern state with the most blacks is Louisiana, at 32% (also has the highest murder rate, coincidentally).

I would like to hear your counter arguments against people reiterating the same old "Why are you proud of something you didn't do?" when talking about preserving identity and heritage.
If we disregard the genetic argument for a moment (for normies) then I think the importance of the history and heritage of your own people is super important because it provides a, both personally and for the nation as a whole, psychological guidance and safety buffer. You will always have the one unique prototype that you can refer to; how did my ancestors deal with this problem? In a way a homogenous nation is sort of like an extended family, you look up to your brothers and sisters and they learn you their lessons. Not having that sense of identity is to me horrifying. I shudder at the mere thought of future swedish children never learning about the ancient nordic mythology or stories, not because I think they are inherently superior but because those stories belong to them.

The American identity lies in the state cultures, which the left has been trying to destroy. We are only Americans to those outside of the country, but to those inside we are members of our state and the culture that each one has.
The reason it feels like we have lost our identity is because Democrats are constantly trying to undermine and ignore the importance of the state to the overall union. They view the states as subjects to be ruled, but that is the opposite of how America is suppose to be.
Jason Lee
I admire his works a lot, plus that pic shows how I feel when thinking about this :^(

Americans can never have a true identity when they're country is 57% white and they have blacks destroying their neighborhoods every week.

A lot of American culture and values came from Scots-Irish, Appalachian settlers. Things like independence, resentment of authority, individualism, are American.

There's plenty of American identity in the South and the Midwest. Ignore west coast shitlibs and their antics. They don't represent America.
Matthew Nguyen
In Louisiana we have a very strong sense of community, mainly due to being the only french heritage state in the union. This has had the added benefit of making integrating the large amount of blacks easier. The good parts of our culture are of course originating in white communities, but the entirety of the culture is shared with all the races.
Not perfect of course, as we still have nigs nogging everywhere, but we also have a lot of normal black people who feel a sense of community with whites and the others. The state is also turning into a Republican stronghold since the blacks are starting to wake up. The future is going to be great.
Dominic Reyes
Is it my fault when they teach pic related to me? Fuck you, our Culture, or what's left of it, has been degraded since the (((60s)))

Like I said, it's your own fault you have no culture, also your family's fault that they passed nothing on to you. You're sort of like a culture bastard. Schools an universities don't teach you your culture, those are places where you go to express and spread your culture, not places to get it. I guess that's why you're here though.

What is it?
Tyler Stewart
Nah we are too stubborn of a people to allow our culture to fade forever. Even if it is too far gone to recover, we would just rebuild the culture as well as we remember it to be.
This is why state identity was, and is, so important. Individuality is a key trait of an American, and pride in one's state, as well as representing the culture of said state, ensured that the image of individuality was maintained.
This is all falling apart lately because we have been focusing too much on our national identity while letting our state identity fall to the wayside. Also with the internet and commiefornia controlling all media, we have seen a further degradation of state culture in favor of the Hollywood bullshit. It is no coincidence that California faggots refer to every state as an unimportant flyover state. They started this decay, and the decay will only end when they are shaken up. Good news is that the dumbass riots are going to wake them up faster.
Isaiah Lee
Yes those values are still alive today in much of the white population, many of which have Scots-Irish heritage. I know I do.

I tend to notice that families that move around the country a lot tend to lose the culture of their home state. They never really connect with the locals in places they live because they are so use to having to break those connections to move for work or whatever.
The states that have a really strong culture tend to have the people that get really homesick if they leave for too long. You often hear these types constantly reminiscing of little things that they miss from home. States that have lost their culture tend to have people that feel the opposite, and are desperate to get out.

Noice. Yes it's true. You have to respect the Left, in that they are very good at unifying. The different ethnic groups want the same thing so they should work together, or the Left will continue to tear the nations apart.

>"Why are you proud of something you didn't do?"

The kraut Americans settled much further west than where that user is from. The Midwest is krautland, mostly west of the Mississippi and east of the mountains. A lot settled in Texas and Louisiana too, though they more than likely got absorbed by the local culture. Hell, we have local sausage traditions that come directly from the german immigrants.
Jacob Bailey
There's only like 15 % of German-Americans left. Or at least those who identify like that.
Landon Lee
I don't consider recent immigrants to be "real" Americans yet and they never really will be that to me, but maybe over generations they will be to me. I only see the "nativist Americans" to be real Americans. They can be of whatever race they are and be American, but only if their ancestors have been here for generations, and especially people whose ancestors have been here since the beginning, since the first contact in America. That's just my opinion. I feel like everybody wants to come immigrate here and reap the benefits of all our ancestors' (all the nativist Americans of various races) history here, after the fact and they didn't have any input into making America like we did.
Well there it is.
Blake Phillips

The german heritage was repressed during the war era, so it kind of just morphed into various American traditions. It wasn't really destroyed or subverted, it merely just changed to accommodate the sensibilities of the era.
You can still see the german heritage, but you just have to look a lot harder than before to realize it is really german heritage.

Brandon Reyes
>Supposed to be my country Yes you fucking faggot my great grandparents came in through the quota system, they built the sub ways of NYC, They mined coal in Pennsylvania, They built this country
Carson Turner
You don't have to be white to be an American. It helps, but it's not required. In the same sense, just because someone has US citizenship does not mean they are a true American. Our culture is meant to be spread as such, as being an American requires integration.
This is also why our very American traditions (the flag, the 4th, etc) are extremely important. They are meant to be easily adopted by immigrants so that they can better integrate into society, and hopefully through that integration adopt our social norms and culture.
It is very much a fact that we are a nation built of immigrants, but do remember that we are built of the best immigrants the world has to offer. The lowering of this bar is what has caused the degradation of our cultural fabric, not so much the non-white issue.
James King
>You keep saying "we" as if you put any effort into nation building. My ancestors did. That's what makes me a real American. All my ancestors have been here since the first contacts with Native Americans and the colonization, they all had input on making America. And I will contribute to the culture of it.
Hence my definition of nativist American. See: That's how I define my "American identity."
Noah Young
Yep pretty much. It just became shameful to be associated with germany, so most tried to keep their heritage as vague as possible. They still remember it, of course, it is just not advertised, and mostly just melded with the overall American culture.
Isaac Taylor
Again, understand the nativist American definition. See:
Nathan King
But you didn't. You were just born here. That's it. >made of the best immigrants No we weren't at all. We are descendants of the poorest and hungriest of our homelands. Arguably the bravest however. It takes balls to upend your entire life ( even if it is shitty) to move across the world to work for Peanuts.
Benjamin Perry
But non whites don't integrate as well sometimes not at all, they can't truly be American
Anthony Miller
I think you're trolling. And you're probably not American in my view. I think you're one of those recent immigrants, maybe your grandparents immigrated here a few generations ago, reaping the benefits of my ancestors who colonized and lived on the frontier, in the wilderness at first, while your ancestors were living comfy in cities in Europe.
Adrian Russell
The poorest do not have the means to make the journey to America, but I get your point. I still would argue that the middle class immigrants from the European nations count as "the best", simply because they were the most abundant. Often times they were economic migrants, seeking a new life when times are tough.
Aiden Reed
Yeah fuck your arbitrary definition. "REAL Americans are only the group of people who conveniently include my heritage." Coming from a line that fought in the revolutionary war, fuck your nativist mindset. If you met these ancestors of yours, would you call them not true Americans because they don't have roots here? America is not Europe. We don't give a fuck about your line or your ancestors or how much they did. Put in the work here and now and you are my brother. You just want special snowflake designation for something you didn't do at all so you can look down on certain people. Fuck you, that's just unamerican
