I think you look at attractiveness ratings differently than I do. Top 20% of men is just beating 4/5 guys in attractiveness. Those aren't long odds considering 1/3 men are obese and 3/4 men are overweight or obese. I would consider an 8 to be a very attractive man or woman.
If you look at the 1-10 scale as a normal distribution with a standard deviation of 1, then 68% of all people will be a 4,5, or 6. 95% of all people will be a 3-7/10. If this is the case, then to be in the top 20% of attractiveness, you really only have to be a 5.84 or higher. This is not really unattainable for any 4 or 5 who puts some effort into their appearance through grooming, clothing, and exercise.
It's still a concept that was formulated by a Western philosopher and has only been utilized in Western ideologies
