reposting my diatribe to continue eu discussion The problem, as I see it, is Europe is acting uppity again and needs to be reminded of their place.
The entire EU economy, including Britain, is still significantly smaller than the American economy, despite having 2x the amount of citizens.
The EU has no military.
The EU has no ability to project power or act as a world power. Instead, it entirely relies upon the American military. The British-French intervention in Libya and the French intervention in Mali are perfect examples of this - in both scenarios, their militaries lasted less than two weeks before running out of jp2 and munitions and had to rely on US stocks and logistics.
On top of that, the EU is currently falling apart.
Yet, they have the gall to ban POTUS from the EU Parliament and various national parliaments.
And they believe we're going to let them create an EU army, thereby eroding the role of the US, using free American surplus. To be fair, this last point can be entirely blamed on Obama and his hard on for weakening the US.
The solution? Once Brexit happens and NAFTA is renegotiated, Trump needs to bring Britain into NAFTA.
Also, fortunately, Merkel is out on her ass come the next elections. Unfortunately, her replacement (likely SDU) is just as bad if not worse, he just doesn't have the same political acumen and command she does.

another info from the supposed soldier in al bab:
about a month ago (9th of january to be exact) he said they are bombing aqil mt. and hospital for 1 month now (which means since december 2016) and the only reason for this is because they are planing to capture of al bab using the hospital/mt. as a starting position. its 2 months now they are shelling the place and our guys seem to capture hospital and some of the surrounding area.
this guy really looks like he knows some shit, he may actually be a soldier over there.
turkish sources are 90% shills. people claim so many shit all around and its really hard to find actual true info.

i cant really talk about these stuff much due to project secrecies etc. (i know you guys dont believe me but whatever) but i can say some stuff for sure, if turkey manages to elect a proper leader in the upcoming decade for a change, its going to be extremely interesting in ME and possibly world.
people generally disregard turkey due to many reasons, most of the time they are right as well, but turkey also has a lot of power to project its influence, to caucaus (ruskies know this as well), to ME, to balkans (even though most hate us) etc.

your analysis is confused
EU, Europe, NATO are used interchangeably. But they are different.
Europe is a a continent with 720 million people. The EU is 27 of those countries on the continent, comprising some 300 million people. One of those, the UK will leave the EU, but not Europe, and not NATO. EU is a trade bloc at present. Therefore it has no army, except those that it is comprised of via it's member states. EU projects market power. It tries not to play the 18th and 19th century games of military power. It is trying something new. Free american surplus...have u seen your debts boy? Once brexit happens....what do u mean by this...because it's not clear if u are talking about in two years or more. Renegotiate nafta ...how long is that going to take? Now I get the general sense of USA IS OK emanating from your nice bait. But I find the rest of your nonsense quite difficult to understand. Could u perhaps clarify what you are saying?

>A lot of voices in here say that Americans want europe to be weak so they can control it.
This is honestly true, to an extent, but Europe has also welcomed this arrangement. America has been Western Europe's hegemon for 80 years. In return for our military guarding the continent, you get to decrease military spending and instead blow that money on creating a social utopia.
Only in the last decade or so has their been a real push for the EU to break with the US and this has been encouraged by Obama for whatever reason. We now have somewhat integrated European militaries and Merkel is pushing for a replacement of national militaries with a European Army and Obama saw fit to provide surplus US military equipment to supply it.
This is objectively bad for the US. It erodes our military and economic position. The EU would be able to guard itself and potentially project force and this would lead to the erosion of the petrodollar.
>Do you think that US will benefit if EU was stronger?
Strong politically and militarily? No. The US would benefit from stronger independent nations.

Both the question and the answer are interesting. The answer is wrong however.
Obviously a larger entity in alliance and in a free trade association with america would benefit america more than smaller less integrated but more 'independent' states.
This is obvious when you think of seamless trade and seamless integration of interests.

it's true tho. u probably do not understand trade and what exactly it entails across the supply and service chain. the eu is integrating towards something more than a trade block. it is for this purpose that it will create an army within it's members. for much the same reasons a s nations create militaries, to protect its trade interests and routes and prevent aggression against it.
William Russell

How does it benefit the US to go from the hegemon of Europe to its partner? It doesn't - it erodes our geopolitical position.
>seamless integration of interests.
This is an idyllic fantasy that doesn't actually happen in reality. The current state of politics in the West is all the proof you need.
Owen Sanders

The EU was created because Western Europe wanted to oppose the Eastern Bloc. The individual countries on their own were too weak to have a say on their own.
If the US hadn't started going to Vietnam and intervening in far-flung areas, the EU would never have become a reality in a geopolitical sense because Western Europe would not have a reason to discern its interests apart from those of the US. (i.e., France was having too many economic complications to be interested in gaining influence in Asia through costly force).
After the reunification of Germany, the EU became dominated by its economy and its hegemony (when Germany is united, it tends to dominate). France, long opposed to German unification from Richileu in the 1600s to the 1800s, did not oppose the absolution of Germany from the Eastern Bloc due to the principle of both Germany and France being too weak on their own to have a voice in a world faced with the rising power of South Korea and China and the continued domination of the US.
The EU is another iteration of the German Empire, and does not represent the interests of the US though it may be used against Russia and Asia.
The US needs to decide whether its effectiveness in checking these rising powers is more acceptable than a German-dominated continental Europe (Britain is attempting to return to its steadfast tradition of estrangement toward the continent through Brexit).

hegemon? really? hegemon?
it obviously sees benefit in unified collectives because otherwise there would be no nato.
the idea of independent nations is yesterdays game, last centuries game. no individual states will be able to compete at any level with the chinese. nor will they be able to comprehensively provide the usa with anything other than a headache. a divided europe would require americas continual attention, whereas a unified one will be able to add actual meat to anthing it chooses to do.
Your argument is that a man with many children in his care, is a more formidable opponent than that same man would be if he was walking around with his navysealspecialforcesbodybuilderkungfumaster buddy.
if u think like a twelve year old, what you say makes absolute sense. but in a world where all the other children are getting bigger, if all you can do is try and keep your friends small so u can be big, it's a losing strategy. it's negative, it's psychopathic and it completely fails to deal with the facts on the ground.
Liam Murphy
Nice digits, but you're objectively wrong.
>the eu is integrating towards something more than a trade block.
The EU /has/ integrated into something more than a trade bloc. It is now a political bloc domianted by Germany, seeking greater integration. There's a reason nations are wanting out.
>it is for this purpose that it will create an army within it's members.
This is already happening. There already exist partially integrated militaries - the Eurocorps, Franco-German Brigade, German-Netherlands Corps, etc. The EU established a coast guard 3 months ago and had been receiving surplus US military equipment from Obama.
>and prevent aggression against it.
You mean as the US has been doing for nearly a century?
An EU Army is a logical step in the direction of complete integration, with the purpose of replacing the US's European role.
