They are no different then every other white supremicist movement in history. I don't get why everyone is treating them any differently then every other time they have popped up in history. It's a cycle and it's obvious to anyone who looks at history.
White supremecy has been around, in some form forever. The belief that a certain ethnic group of people from some concentration or definition in either European, West Asian, or Scandanavia movements has been prevalent for as long as those ethno groups have self identified. Those who believe their ethno group, however they choose to define it, have some inherent superiority have always argued for tighter in groups as well as cultural soveriegnty when faced with an out group.
The problem is, the ideology has never been that popular, in the sense that their long term goals of convincing large populations of people into cultural and ethnic isolationism never takes hold in the population at large. They are always seen as a fringe group, desperately clawing to get more members over to their side. Their message is usually offensive and unconvincing, and they are always at a constant risk of dying off. And when they do get new members, new believers, they are usually "soft" believers, willing to express their beliefs passively instead of acting toward a goal.
So White Supremiscsts do what theyve always done: attach themselves to a far more popular ideological or cultural movement. They show up when the movement gains any level of traction, swinging their arms and wagging their fingers saying "No, no, no. this was about us the whole time. Look at ME." It's blatant and obvious at this point. They distort the message of the movement they attempt to co-opt until it becomes unpopular and unrecognizable.
