I was thinking along those lines. There's an illusion of transparency and choice, but at least in an aristocracy or monarchy, it's more honest about who actually pulls the strings and how much the interests of the citizenry influence politics.

Under a true democracy Hillary Clinton would have been elected and USA would have been finished. Even with a Republic he still only won by a few thousand votes in key states. And then you have the cuckservatives.
Democracy is a popularity contest. The average person (especially women) is more likely to vote on personal reason rather than based on sound logic.
Does you family work with everybody getting an equal say? No. The father knows best and instills the children with discipline and cares more about their wellbeing than their feelings.
