Now that things have settled down, what's Sup Forums's verdict on The Man in the High Castle?

Now that things have settled down, what's Sup Forums's verdict on The Man in the High Castle?

Is it actually pro-National Socialism or not?

It makes people sympathetic. The only parts are obvious kike shilling
Burn a retard day

Gas chamber in administrative building

Japs just dumping dead bodies by the road

Mandatory euthanasia for people who can be taken care off by relatives without the state support

Great show. I don't know where it will go from here; season 2 wrapped everything up nicely. I fear that s3 will just go full Multi-deminsional

>I fear that s3 will just go full Multi-deminsional
The bits in S2 that just didn't work for me were exactly the multi-dimensional bits.

I don't see the point of them.

Read the book, couldn't get through the first season. Can you give me the basic Gestalt on the multi-dimensional stuff?

definitely not.

tempts right-minded people in and subtly attempts to convert at every chance. will only get worse

The films come from other dimensions in which the war turned out differently, and some people can hop dimensions but they don't explain how or why them.

They get the films just by going to a library and checking the history section and stealing the film, hopping back to the MHC dimension then "analyzing" them

...

>Is it actually pro-National Socialism or not?
The book is excellent; it implies we'll always have shit to deal with in any timeline, so we might as well deal with it gracefully.

The TV series starts off meh, and gets breddy gud. Obergruppenführer Smith is probably the only father on TV that isn't a complete idiot. Rufus Sewell steals every scene, communicates extremely well through body language.

Is it a Nazi show? The first few episodes are anti-Nazi, but then it settles, becomes character focused, and feels neutral. The aesthetics are nice.

It's a good show but I'm worried it will go the Vikings route where it's full SJW bullshit after the 2nd season

desu I just want to watch julianna and Joe make qt aryan babies

>seen this thread a hundred times already

>julianna and Joe
Those are the two most retarded characters in the show though.

Joe doesn't have any motivation at all.
And Julianna is literally a Mary Sue.

she slices his throat open and lets him bleed to death in the book

>Now that things have settled down
>Now that the dust has settled
Why do so many people here start threads like this? What's settled down? What dust? What the fuck?

It happens so often I don't understand. Usually it's Breivik threads.

It's a perfect example of how to take a PKD book, then make it boring and slow as molasses

The premise of Japanese men subjugating white women is spicy and kekworthy, however. The last episode of season 1 was the only redeeming part of the entire series.

Someone convince me to watch the second season, first two episodes have been terrible

It's not trying to be, but it is. In trying to create the ultimate MUH EBIL NAZIS show, (((Hollywood))) managed to inadvertently create some of the best pro-NatSoc propaganda since Goebbels.

It boils down to the disconnect between the exposition and characterization of the different protagonists and antagonists in the story. We're TOLD "these guys are the good guys, these guys are the bad guys", but that doesn't come across as clearly in the arcs and development the characters go through. Just look at our main "hero" and "villain":

Juliana Crain's reasons for getting involved in the main plot at the beginning of the first season (wanting to see her sister's mission through) make sense, but her motivations become more and more nebulous, vague, and inconsistent as the series goes on. She's also clinically retarded and constantly makes stupid decisions that get her friends and loved ones hurt or killed, and is often fully aware of that fact and does things anyways in spite of their well-being. She emotionally cheats on Frank at every turn and continues to exploit and blackmail him for help despite getting his entire family killed.

John Smith's motivations, by comparison, are clear and understandable - he is a man who fought valiantly for the losing side in a war and is now driven solely by a desire to protect and preserve the family and country he has left - at any costs. Every action he takes, no matter how outwardly cruel or heartless, is ultimately rooted in this simple, and sympathetic motivation. And as a result he's a far more compelling character to watch, and the internal and external conflicts he faces are, therefore, more interesting.

Go back to Sup Forums slant eyes and suck the bum of your new chinky overlords.

It depends entirely on the individuals opinions, just like with real world politics. The show doesn't really go out of it's way to make nazis look good or bad. I've only seen the first season, so this doesn't apply to the second because I can't really say if that changed or not.

Only character that pisses me off more than Juliana is Frank. He's the posterboy for a patsy. I'm glad he killed himself. Wish Julianna and Joe would follow suit then the show can just be John Smith vs The World

Fiction of a dystopian future based on the fiction that the Holocaust was real. Not interested.

This is further reflected in the way the stories of the two sides are structured.

The 'protagonist' stories are all structured as your typical, run-of-the-mill character dramas with a dash of love triangle and an uninteresting freedom fighting plotline. The "Resistance" are all unsympathetic terrorists and most of the protagonists are either boring, spineless, or just plain psychotic.

Meanwhile, the antagonist storylines are all part of a big, exciting political thriller with a dash of conspiracy to it. You've got spies, assassins, investigations, interrogations, coups, cat-and-mouse games. It's engaging and well written and keeps the audience wanting to see what happens next.

(((Hollywood))) fell for one of the classic blunders. The most famous of which is 'never get involved in a land war in Asia' - but only slightly less well known is this: 'never make your villains more interesting than the heroes'.

>then the show can just be John Smith vs The World

>tfw no love for Inspector Kido

If it is something produced by Hollywood and/or contains Hollywood actors, it will contain some form of far-leftist propaganda of one form or another. It would surprise no one to see Hollywood glamorize or romanticize socialism. However, Hollywood represents a small minority of disjointed misfits and not the mainstream of America. The United States is the land of the free. Most Americans do not want a massive government. Most Americans do not want a nanny state where a small group of unelected bureaucrats decides what is best for an entire nation. Most Americans want to live without big brother monitoring our every action.

Most Americans despise socialism in all of its forms because socialism, including national socialism, is a far left form of govt.

season ended on a high note

Frank is, simultaneously, the world's biggest pushover and the world's most unlucky man. Everything that happens to his character is either a result of him being too big of a pussy to tell anyone "no" or man up and make the difficult decisions or else is the result of him literally stumbling into a horrible situation by sheer dumb happenstance.

All of Frank's bad life started happening simply because he didn't tell the Pons where his gf went off to despite hours earlier he wanting to take her to the police station. Funnily enough when she turns herself in nothing bad happens to her at all so he basically killed his sister and her kids for no reason. Also Julianna is a giant slut.

more like on a heil note

Frank is a veiled warning on the dangers of being a cuck, basically.

The Nazis are clearly the most competent and most interesting side in the show, at least in S1. Haven't seen S2. Beyond the retarded shit like burning mental patients, I didn't give much of a fuck about any other side.

But it was hilarious to see the Nazis foil every plot of the resistance and other misfits when not hampered by plot induced stupidity. I was rooting for them desu. It was nice to see competent people in action.

Smith is obviously going to turn to the revolution because they killed his son. I don't know how you guys could possibly think this will turn out pro-nazi.

A lot of us are holding out hope that Smith will eventually go full American Reich mode - still wiping out the Resistance but also cutting himself off from the decaying European Reich.

This is what I am expecting too. It's blatantly obvious as well that these dimension teleporting things are a result of the Philadelphia Experiment, too many hints to go unnoticed to those who pay attention. I don't think this show was ever "pro natsoc" but that's just an unexpected side effect of the modern era. Do people legibly think this is something that would be allowed on T.V. today if it was purposely designed to convert people? Come on son. That's just retarded.

I've seen your dad's dick a hundred times already, faggot.

>It's blatantly obvious

1 throwaway reference

everyday
sigh
Good show, not really pro anything

joes dead though
at least in the main dimension

JOE IS TO HOT TO DIE

too fucking confusing.

its the common demonized view of national socialism and they still make the america reich look more appealing

great fiction, but nothing else

>american education

nice get tho
