The United States Tennis Association (USTA) issued an apology to the German Fed Cup team and fans on Saturday following an embarrassing anthem mix-up.
At the opening ceremony preceding the tie between the two nations in Hawaii, the abolished first verse of the visitors' national anthem — no longer used due to its association with Nazi Germany — was sung.
The USTA was quick to say sorry for the incident, releasing a statement via its official Twitter account.
It read: "The USTA extends a sincere apology to the German Fed Cup team and fans 4 [sic] the outdated National Anthem. This mistake will not occur again."
The fact that these people actually believe that singing "Deutschland Deutschland ueber alles" is a Nazi thing quite clearly shows they don't know any pre WWII history of their own country. Shameful.

Yes, someone pls explain why the song got those looks of astonishment from the Germans? Some looked bemused, others angry.

wiki says
Germany, Germany above all else, Above all else in the world, when, for protection and defense, it always stands brotherly together. From the Meuse to the Memel, From the Adige to the Belt, |: Germany, Germany above all else, Above all else in the world! :|
you see the decades of brainwashing mean that any reference to making germany great again is seen as bad, therefore the anthem banned these parts.
Jose Thompson
It mentions germans being nationalist, so it's obviously Nazi
Aaron Russell
Deutschland Deutschland uber alles uber alles in die Welt and so on. It's about German superiority but we have to be nice little cucks and point our heinies in the air for nice Herr. Muhammad von Shitfuckistan.

The """Nazi""" anthem existed way before the Nazis ever existed, the entire controversy is around the "uber alles" line, which means "above all else", but it was not meant to be a phrase indicating German supremacy or anything it was meant to be a rallying call for the German people to unite under the banner of the German nation-state. There is literally nothing Nazi-like or even controversial about the anthem besides the fact that it is old and apparently old things are evil.
Blake Perez
Since when has 'Deutschland Deutschland über alles' been Nazi?! I honestly thought it would have been at least Horst-Wessel-Lied.
Brandon Butler
Here's a German youtuber saying you shouldn't say Deuthchland Uber alles. youtu.be/4FhEmEUshso
can't ignore these trips >Aren't most anthems about their country being above the others? yes but germans still have a superiority complex which shifted from racial supremacism to moral supremacism
Sebastian Price
That's a Jew just making fun of people isn't it? Fuck you.
Das Lied der Deutschen has nothing to do with Nazi Germany. It was written to encourage German unity, before Germany as a state existed. More a whole century before WWII.
"Germany above all" does not express the wish of world domination, but of coming together as a nation.

edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/europe/10/04/europe.terror.plot/index.html It also reminds me of some happenings in the last weeks INSIDE airplanes. 29th January 2017, Germanwings flight from Hamburg to Stockholm: 6 people got medical attention after some strange "gas leak" inside an airplane. 3 of them had to go to the hospital. Until now they don't know the reason for this.
30th January 2017, Germanwings flight from Hamburg to Paris: Again passanger could notice some chemical smell inside the plane. The pilots had to wear gas-masks in order to not pass out.
First Februrary, again Germanwings flight: Pilots had to wear gas-masks again.
Media is not reporting about this and I just found out about this when searching for the current happening in Hamburg. I fear that something is going on.
But it also mentions Germany's pre-World Wars territorial boundaries, which are no more, so it is kinda cringeworthy now

Want a redpill from a real german? I was taught in school that national socialists were all vile, dumb and hateful as well as primitive and uncultured. I was taught that by leftist teachers with alcoholism and yellow teeth and neither taste nor style. When I finished highschool (I had History as my Leistungskurs subject) I read up on all that literature, I tried to get my hands on as many "banned" books as possible to get a full picture of what was going on. Turns out all the third reich literature on art, media and music are very thoughtful and make REALLY good points about the connection between aesthetics and the importance of a non degenerate public art to improve the mental health of the general public. Factoring in what a cesspool weimar was it all clicked. The "hatred" for degenerate art in the third reich was not "fear" of something "new and foreign" it was just a the conclusion of seeing degenerate weimar and american culture and drawing sensible thoughts on how to prevent people becomming degenerate nigger tier subhumans from being culturally desolate. Blew my mind.

They didn't just queue up the wrong track downloaded from the internet. The guy had to learn the words ( and presumably the pronounciation and meanings ) of what he was singing. And the players sang along.
This is awesome.

Brandon Edwards
The hymn is the same as always they just skip the first part (Deutschland uber alles) because the Nazi used it (not that the rest was unused). It's the same in Italy except we took out the last verse, which talks about the kids of Italy being called Balilla (Balilla was a kid who started the first street fight against Austrian troops in the XVIII century, sparking the revolution which would push them out of the city of Genoa; but also the name of Italy's equivalent of the Nazi Youths)
Robert Gray
Banning the original version is probably one of the greatest atrocities commited by Germany against its own people and land. Literally the 2nd best anthem there ever was, makes me all emotional and I'm not even a >white southerner.
