The same thing is happening to pretty much every other social network. Youtube is losing money, facebook is losing money, spotify is losing money.
The difference here, I'm guessing is that their ESTIMATED WORTH is continually growing due to the constantly increasing user base and potential. So companies keep investing money into them and their stocks keep growing, even though the company isn't earning that much compared to its cost.
