Personal, Japanese smallsword (wakizashi) should be carried by anti-communist officers as an extra form of less-lethal, but effective self-defense against anti-fascist rebels. This should be carried in addition to a revolver pistol or a small, magazine-fed pistol of your choosing.
Many people may think I am crazy for saying that, seeing as unattentive or careless people could potentially have their own smallsword pulled by an enemy and used against them. Truthfully, however, smallsword are much more useful than guns in a variety of situations.
>Firstly, they are small enough to easily conceal beneath the belt, within a customized jacket, or within a sleeve. These should prevent it from being pulled against you unsuspectingly. Smallsword are also very lightweight weapons and easy to move with.
>Secondly, the lethality of a smallsword is much more easily controlled than that of a gun. If you are witnessing an anti-fascist viciously assault someone, you can draw your smallsword and scare them away or wound them non-lethally, without worrying about stray bullets passing through some innocent person's head. This should keep you from going to jail, or from sending the crowd/ the police into a panic, thereby causing people to get hurt.

So why would having a bladed weapon be better than a blunt weapon, like a tonfa / police stick?
Tonfa are cheaper and are blunt weapons that really fucking hurt, and if you use them right are good defensive weapons in a melee. On the other hand though, any melee weapons are useless if you aren't in 4 meters range.
