Pretty much the same thing. And they were treated like a slave class in Ireland by the land owning Protestant class under British rule anyway, even disregarding the treatment in America. Native Catholics had no rights.

They were slaves and if anyone has the time to Google and read eye witness accounts of the Irish who were taken from Ireland to the new world, they will see that for themselves. After the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland a war in which we lost half our population (600,000 ppl) the widows and children of the dead Irish soldiers were taken and sold into slavery as we're 10s of 1000s of prisoners of war.
