The social virtue signaling to them that their imitation of marriage should be honored and culturally accepted the same as the real thing is more important to them than what they are convinced are a tiny minority of muslims.
If you've ever spoken with a gay, you know that they are mentally ill, while a chemical imbalance is probably the main culprit, they often have a history of some sort of abuse in their childhood. So receiving positive attention from people in positions of authority is extremely important to them as it fills in the void of a healthy parent/child relationship they are longing for.
As for ignorance about muslims killing people, the mental gymnastics aren't limited to the gays, straight liberals also do the same thing of ignoring evidence even as the killers insist and justify that their every action is islamically inspired and part of their religion. Liberals as a rule hate white men because they view them as successful and have envy for what they can never be, so they hate themselves and white men, and love any demographic that wants to destroy white men.
