So Trump has pointed out that we should get closer with Russia but how are we going to do that? Letting them annex Ukraine piece by piece? Ignoring every other thing that they do to undermine US influence?
How will we align our interests with them? Only "Deus vult, let's fight against jihadists together" is mentioned here, nothing else. But international relations are not that simple most of the time, how do we align our interests outside Middle East?
>Letting them annex Ukraine piece by piece? That is no their goal or intentions. They are destabilizing Ukraine to prevent it from becoming a Western hold out.
The reason they annexed Crimea is because its of the highest strategic importance for Russia.
>Ignoring every other thing that they do to undermine US influence? What they are doing is that they are defending them self against aggressive USA/NATO expansion.
Or relations with Russia would be fine if it wasn't for us being dicks towards Russia.
Jason Gray
>The reason they annexed Crimea is because its of the highest strategic importance for Russia. I'm sorry I'm not the kind of person that does this usually, I usually prefer to write logical posts. But it's just that it's very suitable here, so please forgive me nothing personal is meant:
Does your mom have this highest strategic importance for Russia too?
Mason Long
Just keep your interests away from our borders and we'll be friends. Thank you.
Jack Morgan
Americans unironically believe in their exceptionalism and feel entitled to intervene all around the globe to spread their virtue signalling. Not gonna happen.
Jose Adams
So, the answer to OP is no, then.
Oliver Phillips
figure out that messing up the world isn't healthy or profitable. Including the part of it next to Russia
it'll go a long way towards good relations with Russia AND America's security and prosperity to 1. stop financing Chechens that train in Georgia to mess with Russia but then that fails go to blow themselves up in NATO countries or lead best ISIS fighting units 2. Stop supporting weak countries by provoking powerful ones, and then bitch about countrylets expecting to ne protected from the countries you provoked at your own expense 3. Stop supporting illegal government change around the world. Your agents become so good at it they're starting to apply some of the same tactics in your own elections. Needless to say, no country is improved by such a transition of power. No country that went through such an illegal transition ends up an American asset, more likely an enemy
so these are the few easy steps that come to mind tyrone
Adrian James
The question you should be asking is what's the point of being friends with Russia in the first place because they contribute exactly jack and shit to the world
William Morgan

Trade relations. They need to buy food, that's it. They have some interesting exports.
And yes, they are economically integrated in the same financial system as us. Just like Japan, now our allies and trade partners.

we're the ones supplying most of the titanium for Boeing aircrsft Russian engines lift like a third of american military satellites into orbit and a 100% of your astronauts we're the country that builds most nuclear power plants worldwide Russian gas supports like a quarter of EU production
we don't do too much, but we sure are a whole lot more useful globally than 90% of NATO members or your Arab allies
in fact, there's like 5 countries in the world that produce anything as technologically advanced as Russia don't let you 70yo senators stuck in cold war alternative reality tell you differently
Jose Lopez
tralled me so hard mate)))) how on earth am I ever gonna recover..

>Afghanistan >Iraq >Syria >Ukraine >Yugoslavia >etc. We could refrain from starting coups and revolutions right on their doorstep. That might help.
Asher Myers
Can you build a nuke plant in NZ? One could power our whole country and open up many industry opportunities.
We will give you credit for our dairy sheep and beef products.

>Americans unironically believe in their exceptionalism Just like any other nation in the world with a sense of national pride. Humility is for the vanquished. >and feel entitled to intervene all around the globe to spread their virtue signalling. All to often at the behest of resident expats and diaspora from such contested regions. The average American could give a shit less what happens in such places, and has long wished for less interventionism, as most of the countries we intervene on behalf of aren't worth a single drop of American blood. >Not gonna happen. Time will tell.
Daniel Reed
>titanium
We get way more for way less from China and we have our own reserves in Virginia and Florida
>russian engines
Your space taxi is just used to ferry people up and down to the ISS, almost all our satellites were put up during Cold War and the newest ones only use one part of engine designed by your country, the second stages are American-built. It's like having a four cylinder American car and 2 of the 4 cylinders were manufactured in Russia.
>we're the country that builds most nuclear power plants worldwide
Right now we have the most nuclear power plants, China has the fastest expanding nuclear program. But it's better for you than for the world because it gives you a chance to diversify your energy economy
>Russian gas supports EU
Who cares about the EU
I don't agree with interfering in your neighboring countries but it seems like you guys would be better off being cold and isolated from rest of the world because USA gains nothing significant from your trade besides some rocket technology. And I doubt you want McDonalds everywhere either
Samuel Harris
our interests have automatically always been aligned
we've had a war with all relevant European countries except Russia.
>muh cold """war"""
soviet union != russia
Anthony Edwards
I don't think people realize these things:
>Increased Russian power increases US power With a built up Russian military everyone looks to USA to control and protect Europe. NATO can think they can take on Russia all they want, but they have literally shit canned all their militaries since the 90s. This gives USA more power over countries that wish to be protected.
>Alliance with Russia decreases power of China/North Korea China is very dependent on Russia helping them in a war against the USA, as is North Korea.
>Russia and USA share similar goals and benefits of stabilizing the Middle East Russia and USA are both major oil exporters. Current ME conflicts destabilize global oil markets.
>The Chinese should not be the global superpower With an alliance with Russia, the USA would remain the absolutely world hyperpower. China as a dominate world power is a scary solution for a lot of people.
Aiden Adams
> I doubt you want McDonalds everywhere either now that's just wrong competition is good for our local fast food chains point is, russia's no less useful that many of American allies. That American leaders are interested in Arab oil and not Russian gas is just their preference
Me, i'd favor a russian friend over a fucking arab or a frenchman any day
William Mitchell
What you got against Frenchmen? They are cool guys
Camden Hernandez
well half of tham are arabs so it's like a lottery
Bentley Rodriguez
Frenchies are one of the most obnoxious people you can imagine.

Why the fuck is ukraine always a topic when talking about russia. Russians will not give sevastopol and will never back down. So fuck ukraine. Piece of shit soviet shithole. It's even shittier than russia itself.
Kevin James
ukraine is most important piece of land on whole earth imo. it's impossible to not talk about it
Brandon Gomez
I agree that the land has strategic value, but you yank kikes tried to "landgrab" Ukraine shamelessly after creating unrest for years in Ukraine.
Brayden Harris
>Letting them annex Ukraine piece by piece
You might still be able to find the video, where V. (((Nuland))) reported how many millions the US spend to "open the Ukraine" for western (((investors)))
Ukraine has been 50% Russian for decades, the "revolution" was 100% Soros Psyop
And most of the commies are in the US, Israel by now, Putin is the new tsar, thats why the US kikes hate him so much. Killing millions of orthodox Christians, and stilling loosing...
Jayden Green
>russia's no less useful that many of American allies. This is true >That American leaders are interested in Arab oil This is not true. America is not "interested in Arab oil", as we use very little of it, we are interested in who else uses it and how much they get. We are interested in curbing the power of an often hostile OPEC, and how their policies effect our nation's interests.
>Me, i'd favor a russian friend over a fucking arab or a frenchman any day As would I, but the fucking duplicitous western media has made that all but impossible for the next few years. If Trump softens his position on Russia/Putin, it's because the Russians handed him his election, and he's in their pocket. NATO members piss themselves at America's lack of commitment. If Trump hardens his position on Russia/Putin, it's because he is the fascist warmonger the media promised us he would be, and the Russians will feel a collective sense of betrayal once again. "See.. we never should of trusted America!" in every Russian newspaper.
Asher Perez

Ukraine was only released by Russia to be a buffer state. We broke our treaty with Russia by overthrowing the duly elected government there, and replacing it with some psycho nut-jobs. As far as I'm concerned, Ukraine can become a part of Russia again, along with Crimea. Kiev was the birthplace of Russia anyway.
Eli Baker
Because Europe is not your best friend. Europe is socialist, European politicians back uncontrolled immigration to the US as a moral imperative. The Democratic Party draws their program from Europe.
The EU is a project intended to undermine American hegemony and they want to be an alternative center of world power - Latin America watches Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia as well. Why do you think Mexico behaves so bold? Because the Europeans suggested them to.
At the same time the European project wants to exclude Russia from all-European family and to degrade us. The EU feeds Eastern Europe and give them tons of free money for what purpose exactly? It doesn't make economic sense.
Russia and the US could unite to destroy socialist Europe.
Asher Mitchell
i agree. America hasn't been a geopolitical force for good in a long time while the opposite is true for Russia.
i hope things will change with Trump but who knows
