The guy has literally made more money than he gave by doing absolutely nothing and is now richer than ever. He started giving incredibly late in life and all his donations have not only not affected his ability to do anything in the slightest but they haven't even brought down his net worth. On the cynical side his foundation now also gives him power over people that he never had before, particularly after it gets heavily involved.
It's good that he actually gives but a regular person sacrifices more by donating old cloths to the Salvation Army. The Bible even has a passage that talks about this kind of giving when Jesus himself tells everyone to stop fellating the rich guy.
