Why did this particular year (and 2007) feel so different?

Why did this particular year (and 2007) feel so different?

Something changed, and I'm not just talking about social media either.
Reality itself felt different

dont really remember 2006-2007 desu lad

This

Most of Sup Forums was only a toddler or not even born then, go to bed grandpa

I'd say late '05 through early '08 felt off, then everything went straight to hell.

trump winning was a victory against PC culture

we won, we resisted

I was in Iraq. I wouldn't be able to tell.

Dunno about '06 but I defiantly agree that '07 felt like the beginning of something, it felt "modern" to me. However, that feeling has since faded away with time, 2007 feels like the beginning of something that has already ended. 2013/2014 felt the same way in some regard, there was a shift somewhere but feels more subtle.

Because that's when democrats started taking over and everything started going to shit

switchover year. It usually takes 2 years after switchover for it to become apparent to society.

07 release of iphone

Thus beginning the modern smartphone era and the reworking of the internet

really? for me things only started to "feel different" in like 2012

/thread

06 and 07 were still before the housing bubble burst and the economy took a gigantic shit. Social media was pretty much in its infancy unless you really liked MySpace. The iPhone didn't come out until summer 2007 so mobile connectivity was extremely limited. It is interesting how much we have changed in that regard, and not for the better, in my opinion.

Seeing as i was only 8-9 years old at the time that makes sense

the only thing i remember from 08 is that fuck ton of good video games came out that year.

This

2006 was the peak of the housing bubble before the recession

Playing runescape when 666 happened truly a year that changed everything.

Because the economy hadn't shit the bed and more importantly, Chanologyfags hadn't infiltrated Sup Forums.

Causefags deserve a fucking bullet.

iPhone.

I think it's all of these factors. Movies felt more modern, and pop culture in general did too. I clearly remember the rise of indie stuff, also remember the rise of Lady gaga for some reason. I don't know how to describe it really.

For me, it was 2010...I don't know wtf happened that year, but everything started to feel different.

I only remember the shitshows that were Brawl and Spore.

I agree

2010 was culture really shifted to a heavy internet focus

It was no longer this thing that your parents and grandparents were afraid of, everybody used it by this point

I'd say 2008. That's when electropop, thanks to Lady Gaga, started its grasp on pop culture, and then when Obama won the election.

2006/2007 saw a skyrocket in the number of people using high speed internet and social media. While it was nothing compared to the boost in 2009/2010, the sheer volume in proportional terms was unprecedented and it resulted in a shift not seen since the eternal summer.

s a g e d

2017 will be the new 1968

Year of assassinations? Nice.

Hell yeah brother. When's Altamont coming? Can't fuckin' wait.

2006/07 was the last good years of my childhood. Didnt have a good year again untill 2010. But it did seem different somehow.

>Selling rune pl8 40k ea

smartphone fever

2008

Explosion of the iPhone and Facebook.

Social media became normie soon after this explosion.

I was killing many a gook in 'Nam. We called them hooks to dehumanize the enemy.

Let me guess, you that fag pretending to be born in 45?

>fag
leave our vets alone cuck. Even if they're LARP cucks you cuck

i moved in 2006 and my life went in the garbage. You might be on to something op. 2006 might have been a dimensional shift. Or im just larping about why im a 24 year old kissless virgin neet.

>leave our vets alone cuck. Even if they're LARP cucks you cuck

t. cuck.

ah yes. The Falador Massacre

2006 is the year when I went from almost being a beta virgin, like playing runescape all day and watching furrie porn, to a complete normie. Wtf I might actually believe this.

didn't get here til' 08'.
no comment.

I don't remember 2006 at all. Maybe it's when we all shifted to the best timeline. Maybe we've been good boys.

This.

I want to go back to the earlier times when social media was unheard of and the primary ways you interacted were using an IM service or playing an MMORPG like Ragnarok Online.

Holy shit guys. 2007 was the year my parents separated in an awful, violent divorce, and I got really quiet and stopped going outside.

What a strange couple of coincidences..

>Maybe it's when we all shifted to the best timeline

Have you literally forgot the last decade? Worst timeline, with a good timeline shift in 2014.

18+ board faggot go do homework

2006 is the year I joined the Air Force, the consequences were never the same again.

> 2001: 9/11 happened
> 2001: Bush said to shop, or the terrorists win
> People piled into real estate
> low introductory mortgages of 2%
> zero down payment plans
> HELOCs turned home equity into ATMs
> People buying HUMVEES en masse
> mortgage brokers got greedy, mortgage application had 1 question "can u fog a mirror"

Then the turning point came.

In 2006, a mexican illegal immigrant (Pedro) in Indio, California, was able to afford a $650,000 home on a strawberry picker's wage because his mortgage broker didnt verify his income.

The mortgage was a Reset mortgage that jumps from 2% to 7%.

When I saw this story, I knew that perceptions were way out of line with reality.

As soon as his mortgage re-set, it was the first dominoe of many that would send shockwaves throughout the economy.

The full impact of Pedro's mortgage would not fully manifest until a year later. In 2007, it all changed.

>i remember that a fuck ton of good games came out that year
Yeah, me too. (((They))) probably did this to distract us.

The only reason 2006 sticks out in my mind is because the 8th-seed Oilers went all the way to the cup final. It was some of the best days in Edmonton sports history.

I was in grade 11 and went down to Whyte ave five or six times to hang out during the drunken riots. It was awesome!

They climbed all the way back to force game 7. It was Monday, 19 June 2006. I wrote my physics 20 final that day, then a bunch of us watched the game at my friend's house. After the loss, we drove around the city miserable. Whyte Ave was a ghost town. My one friend got drunk anyway and I remember having to pull over for him to piss in a public park.

Then a decade of horrible hockey followed. We're only just coming out of it now with the help of Connor McDavid.

Fuckin shit cunt you're right. Life started sucking back then I'm starting to remember. I started wathing porn when I was like 9. Fucked me up for a good long while. Even to this day.... Only now am I beginning to emerge...

Analog finally died. Graphics in games went up, things became digital, big tvs etc Felt like there was a bit of hang over from that 90s vibe that finally died around then.

The creation of Facebook, Youtube and eventually Twitter.

We lived in a different world with Myspace and AIM messenger.

I would give anything to go back to the days of AIM messenger

2006 was the year they started using very high altitude mega stealth planes to pollute the atmosphere with a substance that would dumb down the entire population. There is actual evidence of this.

Ten years passed, then jews took their plans to the next level. You also changed, you were red pilled.

Wanna do something cool? Watch series and movies from the 80's and the 90's and try to identify parts of jewish schemes in it, like forcing dindus down your throat and strong weemens, you'll be surprised.

Yes, I'm talking bout murican movies and stuff, you guys play cool on Sup Forums but are the word largest source of cultural marxism ever.

Do you think this has something to do with the Large Hadron Collider?

What could cause a dimensional shift in 2006-7 era? We need to try to remember what was going on that got us into this timeline.

The Butterfly Effect came out in 2004, maybe by 2006 everyone saw it and somehow became a memed reality?

Brainstorm yall

Something jewish is amuck.

Agreed.

The twin towers were built as a kind of tuning fork. Bringing them down was a means of producing a shockwave of scared, anxious energy that would last for years to come. '05-'07 could have been the first substantial aftershock

Obama.

Halo 3

2006 was the year that SJWs suddenly became prominent in the US, through a series of media-driven "scandals." Those included:

-The Duke lacrosse team rape allegations

-The "Jena six" incident in Louisiana involving black school students being charged with attempted murder for assaulting white students

-The Michael Richards comedy club incident where he used the word "nigger" several times

-The Don Imus (radio host) incident where he referred to a women's basketball team as a group of "nappy-headed hos"

-The Virginia Senator George Allen incident where he called an Indian guy a "macaca"

-The "flying imams" incident in which a group of Muslims were removed from a plane for praying loudly

2006 was basically the birth of modern outrage-leftism in the US, driven in part by social media platforms of that era like Myspace, Facebook, and Digg.

The "singularity" is expected to happen by 2040-2050 almost unanimously... quite obvious its gonna have ripple effects 25-30 etc years before

>there is actual evidence of this
you seemed to have forgotten to attach said evidence to your post.

i graduated college, was playing oblivion on my xbox 360, watching The wire on my tube tv, enjoying Planet Earth documentaries, not getting laid and looking for jobs

These threads are ((them)), they want to know where they fucked up and is asking you about the years to pinpoint when. You are giving them valuable research so that they can switch the timeline to something that favors them.

Don Imus happened in 2007, but point taken.

Show your evidence.

2007 was a good year for me

all the stupid people got portable access to the internet, then people got poor, then King Kong II of Kenya won twice and they turned the cultural marxism up to 112%

In Mexico and other countries in Latin America we used Live Messenger instead, but yeah those were simpler times, the only instance of social media as we know it was MySpace and Hi5

No mate. The power lies in us. (((you))) are (((them))). The more cognizant one becomes of timelines, the more one realizes that it's you who took you to the best timeline. And it's us who will take us to the greatest timeline. Proud to be here with you brothers. Infinite awaits.

Edmonton was a lot whiter back then too.

Fishing lvls?

The 2006-2007 years were the beginning of the end of the Bush administration and neo-conservatism in general. In 2006, the Democrats took control of both the House and the Senate.

The reason was that the public turned against the Iraq war. People realized that Bush lied about the reasons for going to war, that it was a quagmire, and attempting to bring democracy to a country like Iraq was a pointless endeavor.

The year you found masturbation?

Class of 2007 High School here.

It really was the explosive spread of internet and broadband. Then MySpace exploded in popularity etc. It was also around this time people that went to my high school actually died in Afghanistan and Iraq so that was shocking.
