I have come to believe that Islam needs a widespread movement to follow only the Koran and just dump the Hadiths all together.
It seems as though the Hadiths are more important than anything else today and that is directly contradictory to what Mohammed said about how he was just a man and not some divine being to be revered. Like Christians treat Jesus as the Holiest of beings but Christians do not memorize little stories about His life and treat those with more importance than the message written in the New Testament.

I think if Muslims want to be a respectable and modern religion, they should admit that the Quran wasn't literally written by God, and that it's merely "divinely inspired" in the same way the Bible is. Then they can admit that there's some horrible stuff written in the Quran (like the Bible), and learn to be a little more discerning about what values they really want to embrace.
If a religion can't stand on its own merits without claiming to be the "True Holy Infallible Word of God", then it has no place in the 21st century.

The difficult thing with Islam is anytime anyone proposes a new idea even if it's not that big, they get a fatwa put on them and a death sentence.
In some ways Islam might be "too revealed" like the source text is way too specific so it's difficult to interpret and follow without reverting to a 7th century desert mindset.
We take for granted that Christianity coexists so well with ancient Roman and Greek philosophy and logical reason because people spent the entire Rennaisance reconciling the classics with the Bible.
That never happened with Islam and is unlikely to ever happen while current interpretation remains so rigid.

DO you know how the Quran is written? All the stuff about them being decent folks is at the beginning, all the stuff about them being total cunts is at the end.
When reading a book you usually make your final judgement based on the ending. The Quran has a major plot twist in it that causes bullshit everywhere. And that's a simplified explanation when comparing the two. Anyone going into great detail can easily discern which of the two is loaded with more bullshit.
