Epiphany Thread

What are the biggest realization you've had abut humanity as a whole? Any interesting patterns youve noticed happening throughout history?

Here are two of mine:

1. Human society mimics microscopic biology. For instance we specialize in roles and join corporations like the cells in a multicellular organism.

2.Humans have always used tools to build more complex tools. Complexity continuously grows. Throughout history we have essentially been building a womb around ourselves to nurture us.

Every technological achievement in history is just a human mating display.

we're currently undergoing a shift from pack-based social structures to hive-mind based social structures, which is why the ideologies of today are much more virulent and effective at brainwashing than the ideologies of yesteryear.

>westworld

Humans are inherently violent and a nuclear apocalypse *will* happen eventually as long as there are nations with overkill nuke arsenal's

The development of agriculture (aka society as we know it) has been a net loss on humanity, in terms of happiness versus suffering.

In otherwords, humanity has been (and arguably will forever be) a zero-sum game.

That we will reach singularity in a near future, some of it become another species, others will be left back. It is inevitable. Ray Kurzweil.

one of the most ultimate truths is that we as humans are giant, and extremely complicated positive and negative feedback loops.

Thoughts can shape your actions, and in turn, thanks to bio evolutionary principles, your actions may shape your thoughts. Because reality feeds back into your brain through your senses.

Some may find themselves to be surrounded by desirable variables. But most do not, and most get depressed, fat, or otherwise unhealthy.

Religious /x/ophile thinking is part of the brain regions and lore that are more or less sometimes correct, but its only correct inside of our brain, it does not always apply to reality as reality is immutable and unyielding to us.

But the cycles of reincarnation, time loops, cycles of society, mathematical principles...etc. They are all real but they are only real inside of our brain most of the time.

We are a product of this reality and we only hold a small slice of that reality inside of our brains.

Once you realize this you could hold up this feedback loop like a horse to your carriage and try to change it, so you could change yourself.

WE NEED TO BREAK THE WALL OF KNOWLEDGE

“Barbarianism is the natural state of mankind. Civilization is unnatural. It is the whim of circumstance. And barbarianism must ultimately triumph”

I realized that THEY'RE OPENLY ADMITTING IT, IT'S IN THEIR OWN WHITE PAPERS

Barbarians were roughly civilized, even back then basic bitch

The overkill has nothing to do with it, fool, Russia and USA have enought nukes to wipe each other out 10 times over. What's stopping them is that if the opponent manages to proceed with at least a single volley of retaliation launces before getting hit, it will still irreversibly fuck up the initiator.

The real shtf will occur when someone comes up with a 100% effective countermeasures against nukes. My bet is that DARPA will realize anti-icbm laser turrets and then the shadow government will nuke China and Russia and maybe Europe if it will still be around and not turned into Eurabia, then they, when they don't need to worry that someone will interfere with the civil war if it happens, they will come out of the shadow, take away all the civil rights and finally announce the one world government with ultimate fascism, total observation and controlled depopulation programs.

I've come to similar realization but still continue being a depressed NEET because I can't see any direction I'd want to go. Potential for change means very little when you can't decide how to change or whether you even want to change in the first place.

go home nebuch

Not really worth it at this point. The world's going to shit, even if you manage to get a good life you won't enjoy it for too long. Will surely suck loosing much after just getting it.

well, I imagine that life is still struggle, and evolution means that you are supposed to adapt to the environment. If you dont, then only the people who did adapt to the environment will create kids, and your DNA will die out.

Do you want to lament the loss of your previous environment, or do you want to change this current environment so it would be more favorable to you?

if your leg is broken, you limp away out of danger. If you are blind in one eye, you use your remaining eye to the fullest. Adapt or die.

1. there is no reality, only perception.

2. anything and everything we do eventually will not matter because its impact in history will fade away eventually regardless of its size. existence is ultimately futile and it's our instinct to survive that makes us feel like there's a meaning to everything.

The world has been going to shit for eons and people have managed to live happy lives nevertheless.

Well, that being said, I'm not bringing kids to this world. I would just like to serve my time relatively peacefully and without collecting too many regrets. My only fear is that life on Earth is some kind of test at which I'm failing miserably.

>Do you want to lament the loss of your previous environment, or do you want to change this current environment so it would be more favorable to you?

I feel no strong feelings either way. As to what changing my surroundings and situation for the better would even entail, I have no idea. I just feel like there's nothing I want out of existence. Everything apart from cultivating pure awareness feels like a distraction on your way to the grave. Life and death are not that different from each other, merely two sides of the same coin. And I would fucking love to flip that coin already.

if you enter nihilism you are offered two choices, life or death.

I guess I chose life, and out of that my choices were made.

Destruction is as important to human progress as construction. Wars and conflicts are form expressions of change. Rapid societal evolution that ultimately leads us to be stronger and smarter.

>We are in a state of slavery lasting thousands of years.
>Humans have a non-physical part.

your first point is pretty much the Hermetic principle of as above, so below, as below, so above.

My friend what you lack is purpose, get fit, learn a language, read, try to learn how the world truly works, master something. Those are the objectives i have given myself.

it'll be some flavor of this. I too believe we are destined to succumb to a totalitarian/fascist one world government whose icy grip humanity will never escape. There is no other outcome. When the known world was just a small country, we applied this. When the known wolrld was just a continent, we applied this. Seeing the known world today, you see it happening, I see it, most people are actively pushing for it. Those people are fools of course, the same types of fool who supported communist take overs, who envisioned their family would be party members and not simply executed or at best working the fields.

Glad it works out for you.

What's funny is that mutual destruction with humanity getting knocked out back to the dark ages would be preferable, cause it'll be a temporar setback, while the one world government global fascism is forever. Such systems don't fall on their own, they stagnate, but remain stable. The demographics are best in totalitarian states, humans breed better in captivity than anywhere else and they learn to become conformist real well. The Nazi Germany and USSR only fell cause they had outside enemies and you can look the examples of the North Korea what happens when nobody touches them - they can exist in their infobubble forever.

Life is the product of the environment. I know it's simple but I thought a lot about free will, religion, the grand scope of reality and the universe. I came to the conclusion that none of this really matters, and that the only reason we are here is because the environment shaped us out like this.

>USSR fell because they had outside enemies

I thought economic decline and internal divisions caused the USSR to collapse? Please explain.

what is the practical application of this design decision?

I'm not a nihilist, just utterly lost and confused as to what to do with my self. I try to maintain faith in the Christian God, but faith in itself doesn't give the earthly existence much content or purpose (if anything, most religions seem to view physical existence as a glorified mandatory prison sentence).

Wrong humans have been chimping like a hive mind out since day, It just takes an alpha leader to born and spew some enough indoctrinating bullshit that his tongue becomes the law of the land and the strength of people. That is when you will see each man blinding drawing arms and dying for another man's dream.

Humans are biological machines, eventually they will be replaced by more efficient machines, and those efficient machines will eventually build more efficient machines until we build an omnipotent and omniscient machine which will understand the futility of life itself and destroy itself.
Thus placing the universe in step 1 once again and another species will once again spawn upon a planet and begin the cycle all over again.

Nothing is permanent, the state of the universe is that of chaos, but eventually when the universe reaches the highest point of chaos possible it will find itself incapable of producing more chaos, as such order will be found once again in the universe in the form of nothingness. This will lead to the universe once again shrinking into a single point one more time and leading to the big bang, again.

we dont know if the universe is infinite, or a simulation, or something else.

If we get to a certain point we may choose to flee it, we may choose to pervert it, or do something else. There is even a chance that our feeling of existentialism is only a social construct.

The universe itself could be immutable and hard. The heat death may be a lie, or may not be.

But what does it matter? The place outside of the world is still the vast unknown, and we can fuck with it, we can most likely find things to kill, be they aliens or gods, and it could be fun.

the point is, you dont know until you get there and try.

maybe we will be in for a thousand year galactic war with ayyy lmaos, wouldnt that be awesome?

The fact that women can be funny and are usually much funnier than men but society is set up to discourage such things.

>until we build an omnipotent and omniscient machine which will understand the futility of life itself and destroy itself.
>thinking you know what an omniscient machine will think

Kek

ehhh, i dont think that war is awsome, specially with a super advanced civilization that developed the capability to traverse the absolutely MASSIVE amounts of nothingness that there is in space.
In other words they probably have weapons so lethal they could just simply snap us out of existance

>women can be funny
Agreed

>usually much funnier than men
user pls

if such a thing as an omniscient machine is even possible to bring to existance then it would be fair to say that it can think every single thing, at the same time.

well how would you know that they have that or not have that? You dont know where their evolution took them. They may be entirely peaceful and prone to deception. You dont know, I dont know, but I know that overcoming them, stealing their shit and raping their ayy lmao women will be awesome.

ayo spotnaynaise

>T. nut and berry scrubland hunter gatherer
Farmers won the neolithic revolution for a reason.

chaos is merely a human construct. what seems to be chaos to us is just the natural flow of the universe.

and there is no such thing as order. what we call order is just a form of chaos that we can understand.

how do you know they breed like we do?
maybe they breed like fish, lmao, how do we rape that?
what if they dont have shit to steal becouse they are space hippies?
What if they are all hermaphrodites and woman dont exist?

I suppose you are right however i think it is very likely that if any species is capable of surviving for long enough so as to research and build space worthy vessels they probably have some aggresive in them, much like we humans faced the natural predators on earth when we still lived in caves, they probably faced the predators of their own world.
Just a thought after all it is entirely possible their world doesnt have any predators at all.
So yeah, at this point it's just wild theorizing

What about entropy? are you ignoring that?

The USSR had to spend itself into oblivion to keep up with Reagan era American military programs

like i said, order is just another form of chaos. since it's simple enough for our minds, we are able to understand and describe it. and when it gets corrupted or ceases to be, we call it chaos because we're no longer able to understand it.

Humans are obsessed with getting to a 'higher' level. Literally and spiritually. None are happy with the cards they are dealt and it's the thriving force behind everything human.

>how do we rape that?
WE WILL TRY

>space hippies
WE WILL MAKE THEM ADDICTED TO OUR STUFF AND THEN MAKE US SELL GOLD OR SOMETHING LIKE WE DID WITH THE CHINKS AND OPIUM

>What if they are all hermaphrodites and woman dont exist?

WE WILL TRY TO RAPE THEM STILL

ALL YOUR POINTS ARE MOOT. I AM ALIVE, I WANT TO LIVE, AND I WANT TO GO INTO SPACE TO KILL AYYYLMAO'S, TO RAPE THEIR WOMEN, AND TO STEAL THEIR STUFF

AND THERE ARE OTHERS LIKE ME. YOU CAN CHOOSE TO DIE AS A KEK HERE OR YOU CAN FOLLOW OUR GRANDE PATH OF GALACTIC PLUNDER

Like, everything is pretty much the same, but different at the same time man.

Definition of entropy
plural entropies
1
: a measure of the unavailable energy in a closed thermodynamic system that is also usually considered to be a measure of the system's disorder, that is a property of the system's state, and that varies directly with any reversible change in heat in the system and inversely with the temperature of the system; broadly : the degree of disorder or uncertainty in a system
2
a : the degradation of the matter and energy in the universe to an ultimate state of inert uniformity
b : a process of degradation or running down or a trend to disorder
3
: chaos, disorganization, randomness

See definition 2a and 2b.
i just simply want to point out there is nowhere else to go, we humans have already evolved to the peak of evolution, there is literally nowhere else to go, based on that, how exactly are you planning to understand a chaos which as you claim, is just simply too complex for our simple minds.
So based on that, how do you think we should proceed? should we accept our futileness in the universe, bow to fate and die?

I UNDERSTAND, I WILL JOIN YOU IN YOUR GALACTIC QUEST FOR RAPING, KILLING AND LOOTING.

It's literally the opposite. As long as most nations have nukes we have peace.

There has never been and never will be a "perfect" system where everyone is happy and has their needs addressed. The human condition will never allow it. There will always be predators who rise to the top in capitalism, socialism, anarchism etc and abuse whatever system is in place because they are free from the fetters of morality and empathy. And then there will always be those who allow these predators to rise to positions of power because they never see these predators coming - because they believe that everyone follows the same rules.

>See definition 2a and 2b.
i'm not an illiterate. thanks though. you made me laugh.

i never said anything about what we should do or what is likely to happen with our species next. we may or may not evolve to the point where we're able to understand more complex forms of chaos. bowing to fate and ending our existence would be against our instincts to survive though so as much as i accept the futulity of existence, it doesn't mean we should straight up end it.

One of our greatest strengths, but also possibly the most tragic aspect of humanity

was she named by Goscinny?

>i'm not an illiterate. thanks though. you made me laugh.
i didnt mean to insult you. my apologies.
>i never said anything about what we should do or what is likely to happen with our species next.
it was a question, not a refutation. i just simply wanted to hear your thoughts.

I personally am inclined to believe that our next step if we dont want to be replaced by robots is integrating with them, as such we would be able to perhaps reach higher understanding with the amplified capabilities that comes with computers.
It may very well be impossible, but i dont know what other option exists for us to be able to keep up with machines.

I don't have anything to contribute to the thread so I'll just leave a Pepe.

Oh that's a cool pic

>I personally am inclined to believe that our next step if we dont want to be replaced by robots is integrating with them

even the mere thought of it terrifies and upsets me because i believe, if we are to develop, to evolve, to reach a higher point of understanding of the universe, it should happen all naturally instead of forcedfully.

even as a technology enthusiast (have a long history in web development and game developrment), i don't want it to happen this way. take vr for example. it's just a small step of integrating ourselves with the techy stuff we invent. we are flesh machines and we should keep being that and if we are to evolve, it should all be by natural means.

tldr: giving up what makes us human to reach a higher level of understanding is a high price to pay in my opinion.

The common man is just a legal slave to the rich.

Illuminati is just a front, there are much more powerful men that control even the illuminated.

Black projects are/will be unthinkable AI/drone/nanotechnology war machines, that will be used in the next world war.

There's shit going on that none of us will understand.

I understand your point, if we integrate with machines we may very well stop being human.
I suppose there is no way of telling what such a thing would lead to, so it is quite scary. I guess that all we can do is hope for the best

your picture is stupid. is that supposed to be a river at high altitude? because that would evaporate in minutes
>women can be funny
MUH VAGINA

The common man is a slave to his desires and needs, this makes him a slave to whatever or whoever sates his needs/desires as such this is not a flaw within human society, but rather a flaw within human nature itself, it just simply is being exploited by the rich to control the poor and middle classes.
I believe that what this comes down to in the end is simple and pure human greed, the rich want to get richer and fatter and the powerful want to have more power and influence.
To be fair if anyone was in that position they would probably act the same way

>how do we rape that?
oh ill find a way

Biggest realizations:

-Everybody is incompetent
-We all think we are important, but are not
-We have no control over anything but our own actions
-We are all hairless monkeys who suck
-The primary motivator for everyone is fear of death

pretty much that. all we can do is give our lives more meaning by trying to give our lives meaning. it's basically a paradox but it's my understanding of perfection.

Human empathy is a finite resource

>The Hypothesis:
>1: Stars constitute a genus of organism.
>2: The stellar life cycle includes a larval phase.
>3: Biological life constitutes the larval phase of the stellar life cycle.

>starlarvae.org/Star_Larvae_Astral_Religion.html
>So far as can be determined, humankind's earliest religious conceptions cast the universe in the role of living organism

>Nature expresses its animate character through every occurrence, from the metamorphosis of an insect to the cycle of the seasons. In this vitalistic understanding, the stars enjoy a special status: they are more than merely alive; they are divine. Those twinkles that dot the night sky are nearer to God than we. Nonetheless, the stars take an interest in human affairs, the ancients held

>Although contemporary thought regards the situation very differently, the star larvae hypothesis defends the old conception. It regards the prevalence and persistence of astral themes in the world's religions as not only an echo of the shamanic roots of religion per se, but also as a portent of (post)human destiny. The hypothesis asserts that stars constitute the human imago

This reminds me of space elevator threads

Does space elevator still live ?

>americunts believe this

Why do we need anti nuke weapons when we can just deactivate the atoms in the nuke?

That's a hard argument. Social aspects brainwash the masses to have the best of the best.

As a teenager, you want cars, college application's and sex, and why? Every cartoon, meme, and people with shitty advice pound it into your head. By the time you're 22,23 you have so much debt, from things you were told you needed, that the banks own you.

And that's just one synario.. think of the poor bastards that spend 100s of thousands on medical bills.

We are all slaves, maybe one in twenty go live a minimalist lifestyle out of their van. But for most, tomorrow is another day of work, to get money, to pay for something that we already bought.... at an 8% interest rate.

i did not think of it that way, i guess this is why jewish bankers are hated, they profit off the misery of others
The world is truly a dark place

My baseline baseline axiom/assumption is that I am experiencing/existung, and every living thing around me is doing the same. I think therefore I am is making that point, however I take it to the next step. I experience and that is all I know.

Most people just want to be left alone to take care of their families and mind their own business.
Politicians and governments cannot allow this if they are to stay in power.
At some point, you must stop them from doing evil things, in disguise, "for the children", even if it makes you a bad guy.

just catch it mid air then freeze it to 0 kelvin

We live in the shadow of a very long human history and it's hubris to think we can overcome human nature

That humans /are/ the Singularity.

That globalism makes sense in a world where travel distance isn't a (large) factor.

It made me realize how nationalism doesn't deal with technology very well.

>evaporate in minutes
My first thought, also

Someone pls post the screencap for this guy.

That is his point you stupid nigger, up until this point we have needed a pack leader. The left is trying to manipulate identities to reach the same goal. Creating the illusion of independent thought.

It is in our nature to follow a strong leader, the pack mentality that people are clinging to with nationalism. Its not in our nature to pretend the entire fucking world is our family, and that they all think the same as us. They just manipulate a bunch of smaller packs based on identity, creating the "hive mind"

Humans will never colonize space until my grandsons grandsons are born

How the fuck are people on top of that faggoty bridge supposed to breathe?

why do we need people if we can deactivate their brains?

...

of course civilisation is natural. how do you think we got here? I think what you are referring to is something called genome lag

humanity's original sin is xenophobia - our instinctive drive to put everyone and everything into groups, and then make hasty generalizations about them based on their group identities.

It was essential to our survival to make these judgements in the past, and it will be essential to our progress to discard these judgements in the future.

Human nature is inherently impulsive and thoughtless, ruled by emotion and immediate gratification. Attempts at gaining control over your impulsive side is the basis of what forms civilization (in that we don't act like reckless animals in order to create collective stability), yet we live in a culture that encourages the "liberation" of these potentially destructive impulsions.

That's a horrifying omen for what's to come.

Humans fight. We fight for any reason, or no reason at all. I think it's our worst attribute, leftover from our most primitive form on the evolutionary ladder. Our capacity for violence is almost limitless and sadly, is going to always be with us.

Everything in history is a series of cycles. the birth and death of civilizations. technology being invented, lossed and rediscovered. the cycle is the engine that drives us forward while progress is the layering of human achievements and understanding. We're caught in a never ending series of cycles. from the beginning of time to now and eternity. in short

The ride never ends

Get in here, faggots

The dream is still alive if we want it to be. Technology will ensure humanity's long-run survival and fill the galaxy with life.

>1. Human society mimics microscopic biology. For instance we specialize in roles and join corporations like the cells in a multicellular organism.

Like a virus.

maybe we should drop a colony on Australia
