My parents are both moderate democrats, as in they hate gay marriage, abortion, illegal immigration, and pretty much everything the Democrats stand for at this point but they still vote for them because "muh working class!" and "muh party of the little guy!" even though that's a party image that's like 40 years out of date.
We have a good relationship, but on politics they're butthurt that every one of their 5 kids is a conservative Republican, at family gatherings they often ask how it happened. Just about my entire family had tried to intervene and sway me away from voting Trump, but I come from an intelligent, successful, yet very liberal family, so they wouldn't act so childish to cry or cut ties over something so menial. In fact, economically I have always been and still am very liberal. I just believe in balance and am very traditionalist, so I will speak my mind, even here in Central Florida where half the people are degenerates; Open relationships, trannies with mental illness, SJWs, etc.
