The space programs of the world, are a complete hoax.

shut the fuck up you goddamn schizo

>they have to pay the ruskies to get to the ISS now
They're capitalist now though. Something went right.

>they have to pay the ruskies to get to the ISS now

You shut the fuck up, you brain dead fan-boy!

IT'S ALL A HOAX!!!

american scientists are lucky russians didn't go full butthurt and let them fly to space tbqh

>believingin nasa lies

Bet you all think moon landing was real too

This.

>originally intended to shuttle personnel to a large space station
>originally intended as an SSTO
>space station was canceled
>NASA kept the shuttle project because reasons
>now they had to find something to do with it
>decide to use it to launch satellites
>using a manned spacecraft to launch satellites GENIUS!
>need to add enormous cargo bay for satellites
>so large and heavy they have to add an disposable external tank
>there goes reusability
>external tank is larger than shuttle
>so heavy they have to add solid fuel boosters, full Kerbal ahead!
>end up being more expensive to use than single use rockets
>also more dangerous since you have to risk the lives of astronauts for every shit satellite you launch
>unmanned satellite launch was already a thing before the shuttle was invented
>unlike normal rockets the shuttle doesnt have a launch escape system
>the Challenger crew could have been saved by a LES

As much as the Shuttle was a financial sinkhole compared to the Soyuz(the space equivalent of that fucking beat-up jalopy you pray will squeeze out one more trip to the supermarket) it did work as intended; mainly it was a craft that could return safely to Earth and be reused... a needed step for ANY kind of Space Program that extends beyond our atmosphere.

The problem was NASA was basically neutered at virtually every level, especially after the Soviet Space program went Tits-Up and the Space Race ceased to exist.

hey but don't worry dude we repaired the hubble space telescope, the one that coincidentally was outmatched by NRO spy satellites that the government didn't tell us about

This. US Gov't haven't legitimately used combustion engines to go to space in 30 years, only private companies and satellites, they're like the horses of the space travel world

IT'S A COMPLET HOAX!!

We can't leave the earth.

ARACOM PLEE-TOKES

Your brain is weird dude.

The funniest part is that despite having a much superior spacecraft, the Russians decided to copy the shuttle anyway.

I see their bullshit lies. WHY CAN"T YOU?

How do you consider the space program a failure? Was its mission not to collect information that we could not get here on earth? It was successful in completing that goal.

The space shuttle was cool as fuck though.

>it did work as intended
it was intended to be cheaper to operate than single use rockets
>that could return safely to Earth and be reused
the soyuz pod is reused, and is cheaper and safer than the shuttle

OMG WE CAN'T ALLOW NASA TO GET AHOLD OF THE NUCLEAR TOADS

>NASA loses the only Moon dust collected from Apollo 11 mission

They aren't even pretending to care. How you guys eat it up. Sad!

Just think of where we would be in space if niggers never existed. That always blows my mind.

NASA has never sent anything into space. The Space Shuttle is a rigid Airship.

They copied it because they thought if the US was doing it it must've been something really good.

The truly amusing thing was that due to the Buran being developed after the STS was already flying, the Soviets managed to make a much better concept. The launcher (Energia) was more capable and could lift other payloads (even if it was only used twice, Polyus and Buran), the orbiter itself could (and did) fly unmanned, and it was lighter so could reach higher orbit. The unused stuff that was never finished was even more impressive, they were going to put jet engines on the orbiter to increase its range when coming in to land or for abort situations (which it also had a couple of ejector seats but so did the first STS), and Energia was planned to have recoverable/reusable boosters.

Whether any of its advantages would've gotten taken advantage of is anyones guess since the USSR collapsed and the whole thing was left to rot, except for the boosters for the launcher which are still flying as Zenits, with the engine having gotten several successful derivatives.

>The problem was NASA was basically neutered at virtually every level
no, the problem was some autist decided to keep the shuttle project despite being unnecessary instead of making more useful spacecrafts

niggers are a really good motivation to abandon the planet

this.

Just imagine how far NASA would be if we didn't have niggers.

well, all we got is time, till we aint got no more. and remember that time it stopped that giant asteroid.

yet they happen to be largest monetary expenditure of all western society. Between the welfare state of our respective countries and all the aid that goes to africa, we would have a colony on mars.

Oh shit I just got an idea, prison colonies on mars or the moon for nigger space colonists. We dont tell them its a prison we tell them they are explorers and shiiieet. They get to be columbus now.

WE WUZ COLUMBUS N SHEEIT

>turning mars into space australia

imagine the shitposting
even more ping than regular australia

>they have to pay the ruskies to get to the ISS now
Pretty sure the huge payload of the shuttle was needed to build the ISS in the 1st place.
also:
>we
When Americans impound Argentinian ships due to unpaid debts do you also try to take the credit?

>failure
I don't know mate.
The hubble servicing missions were pretty awesome. You should look it up.

>Pretty sure the huge payload of the shuttle
The Russians lifted large segments of the station with their rockets

>When Americans impound Argentinian ships due to unpaid debts do you also try to
Not taking credit for their achievements, but their advancement has been advancement for all mankind

>The hubble servicing missions were pretty awesome.
If NASA had properly built that satellite it wouldn't have needed those missions
