If you're gonna go to school to make video games you should learn programming. Pick up an autodesk educational license and learn Maya or 3Ds Max in your spare time if you want to be an artist, there's 0 value from taking classes in 3D- or 2D-art. Use Unity or UE4 to get experience with engines. You will be a lot more valuable of an artist if you know how to program.
