Yes, I remember that too. But that was an obvious pragmatic sentiment. It could be a good solution to plug the waves of immigration, since that's the only thing the left and the immigrants have in common.
He touched on racial differences somewhere but he doesn't have a solution to that. He said "Then what. What are you going to do with that information" Can't remember the source on that so take it with a grain of salt. But I think since he values the individual more than anything he refuses to judge whole demogaphic to be "inferior" and secondly he probably thinks the offered solutions are totalitarian.

These people are upset because he will only refer to them as "he" or "she", "him" or "her".
These are typically 2nd or 3rd person pronouns, meaning you wouldn't use them in the presence of that individual anyhow.
I don't refer to my friend, standing beside me, as "him". I say his name, if I'm not speaking directly to him but he's in my presence.
So basically, they're trying to police how he refers to someone in the second or third person, when they're not even FUCKING PRESENT.
