Brigantino here. Like I said before, small cities are incredibly overlooked in Portugal. It's like you're automatically considered a ''redneck'' if you're not from Lisbon/Porto when, in fact, those small cities have a great quality of life unless you're incredibly wealthy and looking for that cosmopolitan vibe.
Bragança has evolved drastically in the last 20 years, pretty much all the infrastructure has been revamped. It's now a very tidy, well-run city detached, in a way, from Portugal's social woes. For a city of its size, not many in Portugal score better in quality of life. Despiste being seemingly in the middle of nowhere, there's now 3 or 4 daily flights to Lisbon, Porto is a 2-hour drive away - smooth drive now thanks to the new tunnel - and Madrid is under 4 hours away.
Asturian reporting in. Never been to Portugal but it's like 1h by car so i'll probably give it a try in the future. Stay uncucked.
