Sign says "It could happen here"

It means there's money to be made selling you naive fantasies you are changing the world by reading.

Good. Let Drumpf hating hippies get some education

It means mr shekelstein needs more money so buy his books which cost 1 dollar to make for 39.99.

FUCK this makes me mad
>record sales of the book "1984" under muh big bad rayciss drumpfler

I HAVE READ THE BOOK. I was inspired to read it by Obama's abuse of the NSA and government surveillance

Republicans (Trump) favor smaller government and therefore less spying

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Don't get my fucking hopes up

Its not 1984 you have to worry about. It's the fact the Brave New World has come to full realisation.

This. This is a business and cashing in on what's popular is smart regardless of the company's views.

>liberals call President Trump Hitler and Drumpf for the billionth time these past months

Where was this? I need to know who to boycott (if not a small, local business).

Looks like a Barnes and Noble.

They only care about how it depicts a dystopia, not why it depicts one.

>media asks you to believe that 2+2=5 every day
>leftists encourage MORE people to read 1984

Never stops amazing me how little self-awareness they have.

I thoroughly enjoyed 1984 and Brave New World.

1984 is about a socialist dystopia.

The handmaid's tale is a stupid fucking book. Literally just liberal female garbage. Don't fucking ever read that bullshit.

the road was a good book imo

>What did they mean by this?

The person who chose the books for the display knows good literature.

>a chain bookstore staffed only by failed lib arts majors is super shitlibby
SHOCKING DISCOVERY

It means you can probably expect more brick-and-mortar bookstores to close soon.

Fahrenheit 451 is already here

this. it's just liberal butthurt manifesting itself in small, passive aggressive ways.

This.

Half of reading is understanding why something was written, not just being told a story. However, due to mass consumption of shallow media, people expect less and end up not reading between the lines.

makes u thnk about the world and stuff doesn't it huh like this is rly happening now

>Fahrenheit 451

Great, more global warming propaganda...

kek
cmon user

AYO HOL UP

How come lefties are suddenly concerned over the gubament control when they're the ones who have been making fun of paranoid gun nuts, demanding safe spaces, demanding abolishment of free speech etc.???
I don't care who's in the white house, or who's pulling the strings, because I'm not going to bend over and take globalist cock up in my ass no matter what.

At least they didn't put To Kill A Mockingbird in there.

>republicans favor small government

wew lad

kek. fahrenheit 451 is all about SJWs burning books that upset people.

>Bookstore
>in 2017

What backwards-ass place do you live in, OP?

1984, Fahrenheit 451, and the road are all pretty good tho.

>I HAVE READ THE BOOK. I was inspired to read it by Obama's abuse of the NSA and government surveillance

>Republicans (Trump) favor smaller government and therefore less spying

This is what trumpanzees unironically believe, trump ran a campaign on expanding the powers of the NSA because muh terrorism, harassed Apple about not letting the government have backdoors built into their devices, thinks snowden is a traitor, among other things, at no point he has said anything about limiting or reducing spying

Not that trumpanzees would care if you knew the facts, your cult of personality surpasses any measure of critical thought you may have left

>books about censorship and commie dystopias full of listless people

So are we celebrating Hillary losing?

Libshit propaganda to make Based Authoritarism look badly.
Do not pay attention. These books are destructive and generally a poison.

nice work, bookseller.
you forgot to put out some copies of "camp of the saints" and "submission", though.

...

...

read 2 seen movie adaptation of one.

>putting Atwood with those books
I like that book but it's pretty juvenile compared to Orwell or Huxley. Anyone read Snow Falling On Cedars? It's impossible to not find five copies of it in every second hand store and I always wondered if it was any good.

I'm worried that they'll read those books and get the WRONG idea.

It's already happening via activism and protests.

I think I'm going to open a book & survival gear store and market it to liberals. I'd like to take their money.

Fahrenheit 451 is the temperature at which Mr Trump prefers his steak.

the road couldve been a god-tier movie if it wasnt for that fucking annoying kid

Well there was that "learn how to fight" antifa stuff a coup[le weeks ago so go for it. Most liberals already have gardens they fertilize with their own shit and maintain their own bikes at community cycling co-ops.

>Half of reading is understanding why something was written, not just being told a story.
??
You don't need to know Blair's life story to enjoy and understand 1984. That's why it's considered such a good book.

Stupid liberals should read this shit. Orwell's work in particular is directed at communism lol.

Lol he doesn't know it's about biological disease/warfare

I'm talking about context of the content. What was happening in the world during the writing of the story. This further rounds out the settings, the character, and the themes of the novel. Do you just consume what you read without considering why it was written?

>Do you just consume what you read without considering why it was written?
Yes. A good novel has to have a good story and be *readable*. It should not be work, it should inspire you to want to understand the things you are talking about including it's original context but also why and how it's still read and discussed.

Barnes and Noble

I'm surprised they didn't add Art of the Deal in the middle.
Too subtle for your average mouth breather.

>intellectual property costing 1 dollar to "make"

You're fucking retarded.

A state that voted for Clinton

Barnes and Noble trying really hard to stay afloat by pandering to the politically conscious demographic in light of today's current events and topics. I give them a few years until they go the way of Borders Books and Music.

>snow falling on cedars
>the first part of the book some guy dies on a fishing boat by falling into the water and the author depicts the dead guy's big dick in poetic description
>some white boy falls in love with some jap girl and they fuck in a tree stump in during rain
>she runs away with her pussy bleeding and the white boy keeps looking over her through the windows
>she goes with some jap doctor
>the white guy does odd jobs and weeps for the jap bitch
>the author is obsessed with white cocks

fucking gay ass corny trash book

>but the scapegoat is a Jew so it's obviously about the Nazis :^) English Socialism, just like National Socialism :^)

So liberals are really trying to deflect 1984 and Brave New World and make them anti right-wing books?

Wouldn't it be better to find their own books?

>neo-cohens
>republicans
Technically I'm using no true scotsman but I don't care

Problem with that organization:
1. Man in the high castle is almost pro-Nazi if you actually read it. It's neutral at worst.
2. 1984 is clearly about Communism admittedly
3. Brave new world is definitely a critique of liberal "utopias"

It just doesn't fit to say Nazis were the same but this is America after all and (((they))) would like you to believe that way.

>It should not be work

You're putting words in my mouth. We basically agree. However, how can you answer yes to my question and then make the argument you made?

Libs suck at writing, actually most people today suck. They take too long dancing around the point with flowery prose and it's so goddamn boring. Their heads are firmly planted up their own asses.

What did he mean by this?

Er ist wieder da did a weird job at trying to make Hitler look bad, especially the film. I kinda got what they were trying to do but man they sure made Hitler look like the good guy. Probably my bias and utter indifferance about the Jews.

>the road

kek

>However, how can you answer yes to my question and then make the argument you made?
When I pick up a highly rated book (modern or classic) that I've never read I always skip the foreword. I want to enjoy it without thinking "I should be enjoying this". Like how the Iliad is supposed to be funny and gory and a tearjerker like a cheesy TV series but classics professors turn it into a sexless slog.
