the problem is conflating America's left-right spectrum with Europe's.
America puts much larger emphasis on economic shit because there's no real precedent of authoritarian types of government or radical social movements here.

The American left and right are not the same as the European left and right. Keep that in mind when discussing politics on an international board.

The American right (conservatives) leans more toward free markets and Libertarianism while the American left (liberals/progressives) lean toward socialism/authoritarianism and big government.
