20%+ sales tax

>20%+ sales tax
>50% tax on rental of commercial properties
>10% stamp duty on home purchase
>highest income bracket around 100k-150k, in the US that's 400k
>fuel is taxed
>have to pay absurd prices for parking literally everywhere
>pollution tax soon to be introduced on cars
>congestion charge in London and threats to implement it in other cities
>fucking trade unions holding everyone to ransom whenever they're unhappy

This is the situation in Britain, a country that is seen as """capitalist""" and """business friendly""" by European standards. All this is supposed to fund a welfare state yet Switzerland, the European country with the highest life expectancy only beats the US by about 4 years.

Why are Europeans ok with this? We already got the debate started on immigration and national identity and that's a beginning but seriously, why is there not even the slightest sign of a discussion on how much taxes we pay in this shithole of a continent? There is not a single economically liberal party anywhere to be seen in Europe and any politician who tries to argue that we pay too fucking much to the state either makes a u-turn or vanishes into obscurity. See UKIP for example. A few years ago they were pro-capitalism but now their economic policies are starting to look more like Old Labour shit.

Can any European on Sup Forums seriously say they're happy with the amount of taxes we pay? Whenever I bring this up IRL I get the most confused look as if people have completely accepted high taxes are a fact of life that cannot and shouldn't be changed. The absurdity goes as far as people claiming a cut in taxes would make everyone poorer.

Europe has a completely different mentality when it comes to money. They aren't as power hungry and greedy, they appreciate the states ability to support them.

Provide WHAT for them? Healthcare, food for the poor, undergrad stipends, and fuck all else. Don't even have a real millitary. Almost all of the money goes to an unfathomable bureaucracy that makes our swollen mass of a government look like a fucking joke.

That's fucking absurd.... how the fuck do you have a middle class? How the fuck do you have new young entrepreneurs venturing to make money?

>how the fuck do you have a middle class?
We don't. Our "middle class" commutes by public transport and buys IKEA cardboard furniture

>How the fuck do you have new young entrepreneurs venturing to make money?
They don't. Not a single large company in Europe is younger than 60 years. Young entrepreneur in Europe = rapper, activist or both

Sigh.... the moment you step into Europe you will notice better transportation, infrastructure, industrial connections, living standards, more small businesses, happier people. The list can go on.

The people in Europe are less dependent on money, have time for education, and for that reason, are more intellectually capable and frugal.

I personally was born in Germany and visit every year now.

My dad grew up in Germany and now has a PHD in physics, owns a business with me, and makes over $120,000 a year with benefits.

I feel the same way Limey bro, we fought a revolution over 3% tax to some tights wearers over sees, now we pay 30% income tax plus all those other bullshit taxes and we have a 20 trillion dollar debt anyway. 1776

The wealthy and corporations have off-loaded most of their taxes on the middle class since the 1950's. They control the government, so it can never be fixed now.

it's good if you don't work or earn slightly more than average, otherwise it's a very poor lifestyle of high taxes, rents and no discounts on things like prescriptions, eye care, you can' afford to buy property as you need $25K cash for deposit on average and an income or joint income above $50K USD. Hospital treatments can take 6-12 months before a consultation and another few months if surgery or anything is needed, dental care is non existent as the free dentists are rare as it's optional and rates for treatment are fixed so no white fillings or cosmetic work unless major orthodontic problem. Private costs same as USA. also appointments with a doctor are during working hours and you can't book more than a day in advance which makes it hard to get time off. Most people go to emergency centers at the weekend if they work.

So good if you are on benefits, bad up to about $60K USD then good again as you can afford private healthcare and buy somewhere to live which is cheaper than renting.

Check most anywhere with a white majority. I'm in Texas and Mexicans shit up about everything they touch.

Also
>time for education
You mean
>time for goverment propaganda

The only part of that that is actually true is public transportation, which is possible thanks to much higher population density, not taxes

we have a huge welfare state that's only getting bigger, one of the lowest holiday allowances and stagnant wages since the crash. You are full of shit m80

All of it is true for the most part.

Don't forget the BBC network TV tax

Ok I take back England, your place is a shit hole.

It's almost as though that "free" healthcare and university isn't actually free, but you pay the government 1$ to get 10 cents back worth of services.

Soon...

I'm I guess I'm specifically talking about France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, etc.

Of course Germany has great infrastructure, it has the highest trade surplus on the continent... In fact the only country to run a surplus and largely in thanks to EU legislation. That has nothing to do with taxation so the OPs point stands.

How about next time your 'home; venture outside your metropolitan bubble and go see some of the real Germany.

...

All those countries are fairly well off though.

>one of the lowest holiday allowances
Move to North America and see how many days you're entitled to...Canada two weeks...USA nil...

That's not true. We have holidays. So long as you have a reasonable safe job, most people receive holiday hours when they are full time.

>20%+ sales tax
Got me there US doesn't have federal sales tax though it should (gets rid of the people not paying taxes bullshit)
>50% tax on rental of commercial properties
Not sure if US has a tax on this
>10% stamp duty on home purchase
Every home sale is taxed in the US as well as taxed every year after
>highest income bracket around 100k-150k, in the US that's 400k
This is true
>fuel is taxed
Is in the US as well usually by state as well as federal
>have to pay absurd prices for parking literally everywhere
Yeah this too in the US in major cities
>pollution tax soon to be introduced on cars
This is in effect in major cities in the US and has been for like 15 years
>congestion charge in London and threats to implement it in other cities
I do believe some cities in the US do this for driving in certain zones at peak traffic hours
>fucking trade unions holding everyone to ransom whenever they're unhappy
This has been life in the US for the past century

Welcome to crony capitalism my British friend. This is the type capitalism we want to abolish in the US to bring back true capitalism.

Sales tax is the worst kind of tax. It's a direct tax on the poor that harms business.

it's like that in vast majority of euro countries if we count out pocket-sized ones
as a wageslave I was left with effectively 35% of my gross yearly earnings after taxes (government ponzi schemes+income tax+property tax+VAT+fuel levies+taxes on utility bills), now it's somewhat better but still a far cry from what our ancestors had to deal with
either lrn2optimize/evade or live with it

>tfw income tax was a temporary to fund the Napoleonic war

Feels bad man

im literally working 3 out of 5 days a week as a slave to the state. more then 6 months of the year i make 0 money for my hard labor. the government robs me of half my life and then piss it all away on fancy soviet union prestige projects that any retard can see are doomed to fail from the start. i dont undertand how this can be legal

>>fuel is taxed
>Is in the US as well usually by state as well as federal
duty is fixed at $3.20 a US gallon and reviewed each year, the total is $5.47 , fuel is cheap $2.27 US gallon before fixed duty but including 20% tax.

exactly, poor people, need to spend most, if not all of their income to survive, if you have to pay sales taxes/vat on most of it, then yeah, it is effectively taxing a bigger portion of their income.

As someone who is the boss of their own company last year all I paid in tax was 4% of my earnings, not bad going as I took home about 50k last year.

And I tell you what the best thing i ever did was start my own company and become freelance.
>I choose my own hours
>can take holidays when i want.
>I can put pretty much put eveything through the books and not have to pay 20%.
>I dont have a boss to deal with.
>I can disolve the company and walk away at any point.
>my acountant does 99% of the paper work.
>I can use every tax avoidance trick that is within the law.
>corporation tax is going down to 17%.

Why are you still a wageslave cog in a machine working for the benifit of superiors who make money off your hard work?

>"Holiday hours"
Meanwhile in Europe they get holiday months

I meant replacing the income tax with sales taxes. The entire reason the poor stay poor is they are taxed contrary to their spending in the economy. They often don't even get tax refunds at the end of the year for their unsustainable taxes. Not to mention they often live off of food stamps and such. So if they are taxed mostly on the food they consume and their food is paid for by taxes instead of their own money it gives them more chances to dig themselves out of that hole since the rest of their income wont be taxed. It encourages saving money because the only part of their income that will be taxed is how much they spend and the food stamps limit even that so if they don't purchase a lot of unneeded goods they are actually taxed LESS than people in the middle class. This has been researched for a long time.

test

>don't even have a real military that's because a lot of these socialist countries depend on the US to protect them (while whining about US being the world police). Let's see how long their socialist utopias last with even more taxes to fund a military

>mfw an american near me complains that boo hoo his state increased sales tax from 1,25% to 1,6% how will I survive, when I have to pay 25% or more

How are we going to pay benefits to imported niggers and Muslims so they can pay our pensions unless we're taxed so much that we can't afford to pay in to a pension?

How are we going to pay for the NHS unless we're taxed to pay immigrant doctors to treat all of the immigrants that are overwhelming the NHS?

I think they should tax us more to be honest.

>seen as """capitalist""" and """business friendly""" by European standards.

Nah, that's just the City.

Maybe the lower brackets shouldn't be taxed at all?

It sucks even more when taking account of their median wages compared to ours...

You still can't evade business rates.

>I can put pretty much put eveything through the books and not have to pay 20%.
You know in the first few months of my company I would add 20% VAT in every expenses I had just to claim back the difference as the product I sell has a 0% rate. I'd get some pretty fat cheques from HMRC no questions asked, but I stopped doing this out of fear they may do an audit. How safe is VAT evasion? Aren't you afraid they will eventually take a closer look at your books?

free university is only for the scottish

You know what we did when we were tired of your bullshit taxes.

Just sayin

On average you pay almost as much, it's just a lot of taxation in the US is indirect, hidden, and built into the cost of goods. Probably about 70-80% of your paid labor gets lost somewhere to tax, whereas a Brit it's probably 80-90%. It's absolutely unbelievable we all put up with this. The average Westerner is a slave to the state that's given an allowance. Overall progress has covered this up but the fact of the matter is at this point people should barely have to work relative to what they do now to have the same standard of living. This is proven by economists thinking even a couple generations ago 15 hour work weeks and shit like that would become normal.

But rising up is against the law ;_;

>not financing your nation's expenses through a combination of 30% flat and 30% progressive tax and nothing else

They need to have skin in the game. It's absolutely unfair that the wealthy have to pay others bills. absolutely immoral.

Ofc it should be limited to a small amount, my point is, everyone should have the right to have a portion of untaxed money that is enough to at least not starve and that is based on cost of life.

Idk about the us, but the brackets affect everyone, meaning, if the first bracket is, lets say 1000$ (random) year, everyone's first grand is untaxed.

Tax avoidance also if you start a business and filter everything through it you can get away with a lot of the bullshit.

But it is completely ridiculous if you dont do this.

I beat England on hard on that game (had to turn off assisinations, 100% innate socialism and liberalism, 200% difficulty). Went full socialist to get the debt problem under control. Everything done by the state, max on benefits, social housing, care, elderly, and max on taxes to pay for it all. All surplus into everything to kickstart the industry, wire tapping and community policing to combat crime. Full on import tariffs, and nearly anything that put employment up.

Got brain drain, rampant debt, but crime was down and socialism and equality was up, so bitches were happy. Got re-elected. Debt paid off, dropped taxes after having a few hundred billion in the bank.

Then did the slow conversion to all privatisation and capitalism, put in policies that reduced people being socialists.

What is this game?

>Sigh....
kys reddit

Nvm got the game

government is a great mechanism to leverage my interests

>20%+ sales tax
Holy fuck, that can't be true. I think 6% I pay is high, that's why I like buying stuff at the Air Force Base.
