I grew up out of the concept you couldn't be racist, because in-group preference is innate, and every effort you make to block it out will force you to become more and more racist. If you're trying to avoid being racist towards other groups, you will become an uncle tom. You will meet exceptions, but a large percentage of a racial group tend to act a certain way or have certain abilities (ie Asians good at math and collectivist attitude, Jews are penny pinchers, Blacks are athletic but not the brightest). Also we know that cultures and societies across the world are vastly different from each other and they may not always be compatible with one another.

I talked to other people. When you talk to people instead of bitching about them online you realize that there are good people and bad people in every ethnicity. We all just want the same things out of life. To have a family, a safe home, provide for our kids, have a meaningful job and contribute to our community/country. Alot of the people around me are drug addicts and welfare recipients. Some are non-whites but the majority are whites. I can be frustrated when I see black people acting up on television but I could never hate anyone without getting to know them first.

I grew up with great people of all colours. Hell, the first black person I ever met was in grade 1 and he helped me to the office after getting a bleeding nose. People aren't racist from birth, the conditions in which they grow determine if they are or not.
