Greetings traveler. Feeling weary? I have a variety of libations on hand to cure what ails you... if you have the coin, that is.

Oh, it's all fucked. Labour too. Strictly it's Labour's shift that threw the whole thing off balance, I suppose. (Though there's also a case that the blame is with Cameron for following the lead.)

Liam White
Have you ever had a job?
James Hughes
It's glorious lads
Christopher Murphy
Not really. The majority of those were imposed under Tory governments directly, with Labour accountability being more restricted to "Why the fuck didn't you roll it back?"
Tories set up the Halsbury Committee which reported in favour in 1963, Labour accepted in 1966 and legislated in 1969, and Conservatives implemented in 1971.
So Callaghan accepted and legislated, but presumably the Tories wanted to do the same. (Otherwise the committee would doubtless have found against.)

>The greatest enemy that we have—to slightly adapt Roosevelt’s slogan about fear, that there’s nothing to be afraid of except fear itself—the greatest enemy we have is raised in our own mind. The grammar of self-intolerance is what we have imposed and allowed others to impose upon us. Political correctness is a white European grammar, which we’ve been taught, and we’ve stumbled through the early phases of, and yet we’ve learned this grammar and the methodology that lies behind it very well.
>And we’ve learned it to such a degree that we can’t have an incorrect thought now, without a spasm of guilt that associates with it and goes along with it. Every time we think of a self-affirmative statement, it’s undercut immediately by the idea that there’s something wrong, or something queasy, or something quasi-genocidal, or something not quite right, or something morally ill about us if we have that thought. And this extends out beyond racial and ethnic questions to all other questions. To questions of gender, to questions of group identity and belonging, to questions of cultural affirmation, to questions of history.
Liam Gomez
There's a 'care in the community' house a few doors down from me. Pretty sure the shoeless black guy who stands in the road shouting "BUS DRIVER" all day doesn't have anxiety.

>Think about what it will be like when white Americans are 10% of the population of the United States—or 12%—15%—or even 25%. Political correctness will not save you from the marginalization of your history and traditions, which will occur because it’s not much fun being a minority. Which is why all minorities seek through their vanguards to take majorities down. And they seem to take them down physically, conceptually, actually, legally, philosophically, and in other ways. And they form alliances with like-minded groups that wish to do to majorities what minorities feel that they ought to, because it’s a question of survival. Everyone’s interested in surviving, and even getting along with each other in a relatively quiescent and “PC” way is just another way of surviving. Maybe in the current circumstances it’s the only way in which multiple group-based societies can survive.
Nathan Roberts
>The Bill Clinton metaphysic is that everyone should mind their own business, and everyone should get along with each other. But it denies the crucial harbinger of identity, which is the heart of all existence and becoming—in Nietzschean terms, or in neo-pagan terms. All real identity is underpinned by what existed before you. The societies that are being created are tabula rasa societies, where you’ve got essentially a blank piece of paper, and what an American is, is written upon this piece of paper, the way you ask a child to do a diagram or an image and they do a face with a smile. And that’s your new American: your new American is straight off the boat, he’s a face with a smile and two dots for the eyes.
On the most lefty of all the large outlets too. Has been this way for at least a couple of years too.

>Where is the history of what it means to be an American? Where is the historical trajectory which relates to what you are now and to what you have achieved? And if that tabula rasa is such that everything that you have ever achieved in the past is smoothed-down and removed, what will it mean to be an American? What will it mean to be an American—a de-hyphenated American, deconstructed to the degree that doesn’t even occur—because that is all that will exist in the future. “Americans” will be those that wish to be American.

If there was a credible alternative, they could probably actually win given a bit of time to build support and a bit of luck with FPTP.
UKIP is all we have and they're not fit for purpose.
Ayden Evans
The Conservatives implemented the real movement which abolishes the resent state of things? (Jesus Christ, that's a hell of a description. I mean you could probably argue that they have done - in total abrogation of their job of Conserving - still, their record is ropey.)
But I mean if we're being a bit more freehand with the definition of socialist, sure why not. (Though their record on the minimum wage historically, infrastructure spending and even the military leaves much to be desired.)
Liam Lewis
>East Germany is now a state that no longer exists. It’s been agglomerated into Western and greater Germany. The Wall has come down, the Stasi have demobilized and are no longer evident, yet in a strange way a spirit of Marxism is abroad in the West. A spirit of Marxism is abroad in the United States, unbelievably so! The number of American Marxist-Leninists you could have gotten in a few taxis to a certain extent, and yet this element of cultural Marxism is abroad in the United States, as it is in Western Europe, as it is in Northern and to a certain extent Southern Europe, as it is much less evidently so in post-communist Eastern Europe, where there’s been an enormous reaction against it.
Ian Hernandez

Unfortunately he'll be gone after the next general election and someone like Andy Burnham will come in and shore up Labour support in their heartlands which might otherwise have gone to UKIP if they'd got their act together.

its happening all over mate, i still know a couple of people on the tools and they all tell me that site work is 75% eastern european now and that even back in the workshop the majority of natives are getting replaced with these robotic poles that work their bollocks off 6 days a week for 6 quid an hour
Jaxon Williams
You don't really get this do you? British Conservativism was never about conserving literally everything pre-1700. It's not progressive or socialist to implement changes the society wants and is clearly not going to stop until it does. It's 19th Century Victorian paternalism. Sometimes things change, sorry but National service was wrong and entirely pointless. And why would anyone even want Imperial standard shilling and sixpence now? Snap out of this shit, even the GOP don't want to bring back lynchmobs
Ryder Gray
Isn't that illegal? Shouldn't they be paid proper wages?
Sebastian Flores
That's a lot to draw from my post.
If you want to implement changes society wants, renationalise the fucking trains already Tory-boy.

I meant your comment in general, Tories and labour offer the same pandering policy Rather than alternatives to each other.

Oh, right. Yeah, I think Hitchens mentioned this in "The Cameron Delusion", the whole thing is designed to be an adversarial system which is farcical since both parties agree on more than they disagree on.
Why would an Irishman have to go to Iraq to become a terrorist anyway? Couldn't he just go to the local council?
Samuel Long
For a while there was a site that scraped and put up all the removed comments from the Guardian. Was pretty eye opening the type of stuff they remove - very mild criticism of any of their party lines. Gives you an idea of where their audience really are if the comments on that are what's survived.

I think its just the natural evolution of democracy.
If both sides are honest and principled they have to admit undesirable truths.
The Tories have to admit that low taxes equal low public spending and Labour the opposite,
But if one party promises both low taxes and high public spending then it puts the other parties at a disadvantage regardless of ability to deliver.
Jeremiah Brooks
Great game of rugby so far
Cameron Taylor
There's nothing "natural" or "evolving" about democracy. Thinking about it in the way you would an organism is extremely unhelpful.
It was a series of conscious decisions and concerted elite effort that has led us to the "managed democracy" that we live in now.
Both parties have been promising low taxes and high spending for decades now. And using ever more ridiculous and ruinous types of financial engineering to achieve that. Now they are rushing to build a police state before the economy collapses.
Hunter Torres

Okay then. It the natural course of human behavior.

>More than eight months after the EU referendum, my neighbour continues to drape a huge “Vote Leave” Brexit banner across the front of his house. I see it every morning and find it very annoying. Can I do anything to stop him?
I've been here for years and had a folder full of OC's and reaction images etc i'd put hours and hours of time into, and it just clicked one day, why the hell am I doing this, why do I invest so much time into an anonymous and temporary image board, why do I invest time into arguing with strangers who could well be children, why do I try to 1-up people with pictures of varying expressions etc.
So I deleted the whole lot, still find myself going to go to my folder but remember it's gone now and I feel a little better for it, it becomes obsessive and it's not healthy for the mind.
