I grew up in a heavily Jewish community and we were fed the holocaust BS hard. Even as a kid, I found myself asking "Why do they try so hard to drive home just how horrible this all was? What are they hiding, and why can't they just let the facts speak for themselves?"

I also got in trouble with the Jewish kids in 6th grade after I said that I thought the Nazi's weren't as bad as everyone made them out to be, and they did some really cool things in terms of scientific and technological advancement.

Too bad I repressed all those thoughts for nearly 20 years to fit in and not be a pariah. Finding Sup Forums was incredibly liberating for me.

The difference between post-WW1 Germany and post-WW2 Germany is the method of defeat.

In WW1, actual German territory was untouched by 1918, they lost very few battles and the general population were under the impression that victory was imminent. Of course, they didn't know about the untenability of Germany's position with the entrance of the US into the war and the collapse of the Salonican front and imminent collapse of Austria Hungary.

So the revolution happened and Germany surrendered. The Treaty of Versailles was just the right amount of bullshit to damage a country (but not irreperably) while pissing off the largest possible amount of people across Europe with it's arbitrariness. Wilson's policies (most importantly self-determination) were disregarded and this, with increasing isolationism, got America to GTFO the League of Nations.

After Versailles, the Germans were down but not out for the count, a lot of them were really pissed off about the "stab in the back", and the economic reprecussions of Versailles damages payments served to only further piss people off - setting the stage for Hitler to appear and win power easily.

No one with the slightest bit of working brain power believes the holocaust didn't happen. The problem with the holocaust is that it has been completely blown out of proportion to other atrocities, exaggerated, lied about, and used as a guilt trip against whites. So you cant claim it was "REALLY" the Allies who started WW2 because they pushed Hitler into a corner, especially when Britain went out of its way to give Germany disputed territory. Territory that was never even part of the German Empire to begin with
